Domus Maximitus: Interrupting Dinner?
Maximitus about to reply is cut short by the apparently inebriated Elemaledai as she starts casting a spell Diocletian tries to stop the sorceress but she gets the spell off and a bolt of magical light shoots out towards the the group and nearly strikes Mustafa but his guards yank him out of the way in the last minute. Elemaledai starts laughing hysterically why nobody really can tell she clearly is nuts or has sampled her own drugs. She shows signs of zzonga effects laughing like a looney. Though she is laughing nobody knows why she doesn't appear to be overly ambitious to keep attacking. Maximitus and Diocletian give eachother a look that tells they have no idea what is wrong with the sorceress. The room is light now by a magical globe of light and the sorceress stares at her spell as if confused but continues laughing.
Maximitus speaks up "It appears Elemaledai has been drugged with the very drug you claim she is making." he says in a matter of fact like tone. Elemaledai laughs eerily, near hysteria, as if it was all a bizarrely funny joke, and not quite real. Maximitus continues to say "I suspect Helenites is onto us, and he may well have drugged her to stop us from finding any connection back to him. I am as surprised as you are to find that my own guest is at all involved in what I hired you to seek out."
Elemaledai attempts a spell again at the group and manages to produce a fire ball. It is miscast, however; the fiery missile weaves, spluttering, up out of the domus, through the open roof above the peristyle. It explodes spectacularly, but with no practical effect except for the dazzling noise and pyrotechnics in the night sky.
A guard is quickly summoned and they restrain the laughing sorceress. "Perhaps we should take the rat there and interrogate him further." Mustafa squirms and tries to break free but the two guards grab him stopping him yet again.

Gildor
Gildor adds, "It seems unlikely that the witch would drink the same concoction she used on the gladiators if she new the effects. The warehouse contact said he just gives the stuff to the Rat here and Mustafa says he just delivers it to the Witch. She just tried to kill the Rat and then all of us. There is more to this than meets the eye."
"We should interrogate them both."

Rician's hunch, is that Elemaledai, was likely just protecting herself, so after she is restrained from casting any more spells by the guards, he turns to Mustafa,
"Mustafa, is there more to this story you have not told us yet?"
"Domus Maximitus, I sure do hope, you were not simply trying to frame Helenites, for the druggings, and playing everyone else for a fool."

Re: Part 2: Gladiator Initiations
The roguish Mustafa refrains from speaking and tries to slip away again.
Maximitus looks pissed at the accusation "Why would I hire you to investigate Helenties if I were the one doing the drugging? You'd best watch what you say further or I'll have no choice but to remove you from my employ."

Re: Part 2: Gladiator Initiations
To Helenaties Domus!
Taking tactful actions and careful words the group manages to leave their employer's domus with no further battling the dwarf and half-orc relinquish Mustafa into the hands of the group of gladiator adventurers. No further spells are cast at anyone as they leave the guards let them go as well. The night is getting darker and street lamps and torches are being lit most all the shops are closing as are the markets. The only places still open appear to be the local taverns. The trip to the senator's domus goes fairly well until the group is stopped at the gates by the guards. "What business do you have at this hour? Begone the senator doesn't allow unexpected guests at this hour."

"We need to speak to him to clear the matter, civilly. This way you still have a boss and income."

Re: Part 2: Gladiator Initiations
The guards don't heed your words and before anything further can happen the town guards come marching up to the group. The town guard sargent addresses the group. "You are all hereby to be removed from the city. Please come with us and we shall escort you all from the city. One mustafa is hereby under arrest for supplying the city with Zzonga a terrible drug. He is to be taken into our custody immediately. Do not resist or fight or else the charges will be worse."

Rician says, "Well, this is interesting, is this order by decree of the King himself? Or is it from Helenaties or Maximitus?"
"Your men and you have been ordered to interfere with justice, which I am sure is against your oath to protect this city and it's citizens."
"I was looking to resolve this peacefully without anyone being thrown into a dungeon or tossed from the city, and thus were I now stand
as Gladiator of Thyatis, liege of St. Cuthbert, in the Order of Sands, for which I serve Emperor Thincol, I must refuse to be removed from the city
least it be the will of St. Cuthbert, for the greater good of all."

Re: Part 2: Gladiator Initiations
Canis looks between the two groups a little nervously (and a little confused about what's going on) "Guys, blessed is the Light and all, but we are in a pickle! Maybe we should go with the town watch and get to the bottom of this"
