It looks like it might be, just Ferd and Robin. That'll give you two a chance to horn in on Daisy's Adventure if it extends into the next day. Vesper and crew will be still partying hard for another day or two and then recovering, so if Daisy uncovers something 'interesting' they won't be available to assist, but Ferd and Robin would.

That's what Vesper gets for putting the girl with 6 Charisma on the spot!

Introducing you to "Vesper plans"... sometimes they are so brilliantly hastily compiled they eliminate a lot of those (unnecessary, clearly redundant and time consuming P's) in the 6 P process. Sometimes just leaving the "sleek planning" result P's...

Elizabeth doesn't need Charisma - she has Va va voom!

Just smile dammit! :P

Alas, with the inevitability of gravity the need for "stage Charisma" will soon come pressing in but Vesper's striving to hold back that awful moment!

Hey, hold back a cohort of orcs - big deal!

Work with Elizabeth on stage - meh, yeah you did that... :P

Ooh, I missed this over the weekend! Another bittersweet reminder of DM Spearmint and his defunct Barrowmaze 1e game, where that was a favoured nickname. πŸ˜„

Metagaming slightly: if I remember correctly, one of the established parties (The Shadow Cats?) have already encountered Kobolds. Now I know they didn't mention that to the newbies "on-screen," but is it possible something was said about it during meet-up and carousing at either the Trident & Shield or (I think?) The Pig's Whistle before we left for the warehouses? (I'm speaking of three newbies: Da, Trawets, and Vurna).

Metagaming a bit more: because it seems to me that Kobolds are what we're dealing with.
Eris wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 10:20 pmExamining the tracks that go through the southern exit, Trawets sees three toes, each with distinct claw marks at the end of each toe, no evidence of front paws touching the floor, so bipedal...not large, by the distance between steps, but not light as the marks are deep. His guess is maybe four or five feet tall, bipedal creatures...he is at a loss on what creatures like that have 3 toes with claws, though.

I believe the party with Kobold knowledge is the original Fred/Tinu group (the non un/Shadow Cats).

That is correct. It was the Ferd/Tinu/Morvith group that escorted Mazie to Jesselton that encountered the Kobolds (and the Barklings, too for that matter).

I'm going to rule that the "newbies" haven't heard Ferd's tales of the trip to Jesselton. IIRC, that whole group was playing the events of that trip very close to the vest...nothing about "The Gash", "the Gnome cave" or the Kobolds. They have mentioned the halfling village of Jesselton as where Robin came from and the Barklings, though, so everyone has heard of something about those subjects now.

OTOH, everyone has heard of Kobolds as mythical creatures populating scary stories told to little children to keep them from running wild in the woods. Some know such creatures do exist and exist specifically here in the Western Lands. So, for everyone in the Daisy's Little Night Business you can roll a d6 and on 3+ will know enough about things to guess Kobolds or something like them made the prints in the tunnel. I'll post this over there, too.

I made a level, I have a question.

The guy with head bumps, is he of devil blood?

There is a spell that makes fey demons and devils not see the one the spell is on. ash, oak, thorn.

Likewise!

Alas, we needed to max out all dice rolls to level up so we had a good go! :)

Fortunately we are now only a "heavy lunchtime session" from levelling up! ;) :P

@Eris: can I mark Gaurbal fully healed?

General question: How much did this cost in the end? Just trying to work out how much he has left from the haul.

Well done, y'all!

I feel Vesper was cheated by the d8 considering she was the MC for the whole affair. Tinu too. On the other hand... I'm not gonna feel sorry for anyone that made half a level with almost no risk!

Speaking of which, it could have gone a LOT worse for Elizabeth. I was kinda cringing until about halfway through the story. πŸ˜… As for Galreth he gets an open-ended favor: depending how you use it, that could be a LOT more valuable than a +1 dagger!

Alas, the rule says we have to go back and do something hazardous before carousing again. I'd say if things go bad at the Warehouse, Zberač could fly back to ask you guys to help, but you won't be available for another couple of days. πŸ˜„ If there's something to follow up on, you could join us in the future.

YOU were cringing? Imagine how I was feeling! As soon as I saw she got a max 16 I was like "Oh no. Oh no no no no." Really though, it's the lord's own fault. Who puts a secret door into your treasure vault inside the bathhouse? Really, he deserved to lose that dagger!

But hey! 6/10 XP, and a magic item and all I had to do was have Elizabeth be a lost puppy at Vesper. I'll take it. :D

I envisioned a combined bathroom/alchemy lab like in Howl's Moving Castle, which would explain the potions but not the dagger. Anyway Elizabeth was drunk, so it's all unreliable narration. There is no telling how she actually got there!

Thank you Tiglath, I know I saw this somewhere before. It looks like a good candidate for one of Eris' spiffy spreadsheet tables. πŸ˜‰

Question: do the new crossbows have the same reload rule as the normal one? Can rangers use the heavy X-bow and recurve bow? What classes can use the hand crossbow?

Comment: the Dart may be a bit OP considering it's essentially a one-handed Shortbow (Far, 1d4) and not all classes use the shortbow.
For comparison, here's the dart in Unnatural Selection (also found on Shadowdarklings):
Ranged, Near, 1d2, 2sp each (1-5 per gear slot), Thrown.

But as a witch player, I'm really not complaining πŸ˜‡

I think the big thing Shortbow has over darts is it's massively more efficient use of gear slots. It takes about 7 gear slots to have as many Darts as you get with two for a shortbow (shortbow + arrows). So I think darts make sense for characters who mostly just hide during combat, but want something to harry with every now and then (*cough* spellcasters *cough*) but anyone whose going to be shooting frequently is going to either run out of darts really fast, or not be able to carry anything else (and probably both).
