Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!

Mort stands there facing east reloads his crossbow and stands at ease but keeping his eyes and ears at attention while he just stands as a look out.

Kormak however stands at attention hands firmly on the pommel of his two handed sword like a statue but well on his guard.

Maya nods in agreement Idonea, a small smile on her face.

Victor however, sighs obnoxiously, "But where is the fun in that? Soldiers go to war for the spoils in said war after all."

[Pulpatoon]

Idonea: "Spoils come after the war, not before and not during."

Dungeon Master:

As the party was debating, they happened to see Lutha looking like he was going to go ahead & go back eastward.

Then the party notices that wolfram is nowhere to be seen!

[Pulpatoon]

Idonea, with an exaggerated sigh: "And now the ducklings are wandering off. Or should I say magpies? Can't resist something shiny."

She collects her arrows from Ewat, and says, "Shall we go collect them?"

[MonkeyWrench]

Victor, "Yes!"

Maya, "This is how units get taken out... Let's find them quickly and move on."

Dungeon Master:

Ok, the Party goes eastward to find Wolfram & they see flickering light coming from the easterly passage of the 'Y-Intersection'.

Does the party head down that way?

my two aren't going to do much other than follow along with whomever is acting as a leader for now.

[Nordbo]

Wolfram and Lutha

emerge together from the easterly shadows, coming back to the group.

Lutha guffaws: "Both of our dreams glimmer! Accept passion!"

Wolfram clarifies: "What my uncle means, roughly, is 'If you follow your hunch as we two did, chances are it might pay off'. We went straight over there", points eastwards down the passage, "and within minutes, without seeing any hostiles, found a chest, in a dead-end room where the goblin said. As my aerodynamic weapon skills are not so applicable when searching for traps etc, I didn't touch it. Any more nimble-fingered comrade is welcome to try. Who will that be ?"

Mort bows "I accept the challenge."

[Nordbo]

Wolfram

to Mort: "Very productive of you, sir. Now, come on, uncle - we're going back again"

Lutha: "Count Buckingham ? Where?"

Mort follows Wolfram to the location of the challenge.

[Nordbo]

Wolfram

together with Lutha, attempts to lead Mort and anyone else who wants to come along, to the eastern room where they saw a chest just recently. Lit torch in left hand, mace in right, shield hangs on back

Lutha, out loud: "Where's this Buckingham ? Never heard of a goblin called Buckingham"
Spotting concealed door without actively searching 1 in 6: [1d6] = 2

Wolfram waves 'quiet!' to his uncle

Idonea and Ewat follow, but hang back and post themselves as guard in the corridor, to make sure the party doesn't get pinned into this dead end. Arrows are nocked and ready.

Kormak follows the group going to the chest in the eastern side of the cave.

Mort shrugs at the question from Wolfram and Lutha. Then sets to work checking the chest for traps, then checking the lock and attempting to pick it.

"I'm not entirely sure the chest is safe to open but I am confident that I can open the lock."

Will Mort proceed with opening the lock & then opening the lid?

Lutha Spotted no concealed doors.

Is it Wolfram & Kormak by the chest?

The rest at the 'Y-Intersection' ?

The way I understood it Wulfram, Lutha C, Idonea, Ewat, Mort Kormak all went to the chest.
Mort does not proceed further with the opening of the chest. He looks to the others gathered with them at the chest "Will someone do me a favor and fetch Mr. Choe or Wexley to come and try and check and remove locks on the chest here since I fear it might be trapped still even with my abilities. I'd like to be safe rather than injure the lot of us."

Idonea and Ewat had stationed themselves at the Y, arrows ready. If the others are also staying at that juncture, Idonea will ask them to spread out a bit, as far back as the intersection that leads to the entrance, and be on the lookout for anything that might come along.

Idonea and Ewat keep their attention focused down the unexplored corridor to the Southeast.

Kormak goes back to see if Choe or Wexley will come help with the chest.

while waiting, is unwittingly hypnotized by how the flames of his torch are affected by subtle air movements in a curved room. Low-speed, thermally-driven flow can be fascinating
