Space Combat Round 4 Resolved
Bogie 1 released two more missiles in your direction, Vampire 4 & Vampire 5! Then fires lasers at the Merchant ship hitting it again. It looks like it took out a fuel tank.
In quick succession three flashes hit Bogie1 as the SDB's close range and their targeting begins to take effect. Up on the Bridge, and in the turrets, the readings you are getting say it took two hull hits, but one appeared to penetrate to do damage inside. It is still powered and pursuing you...and has fired two more missiles at you.
Suddenly, the "Pirate" ship glows from bow to stern and in a flash disappears!
In Turret2, Sigrun fires at Vampire 1 and this time hits it squarely. The missile explodes!
The shot from Turret1, manned by Donovan, misses Vampire3 badly, but suddenly ship sensors pick up a sudden massive increase in radiation and go dark as your ship shudders! It appears your hull has protected you and all internal systems, but this blast takes an effect on your surface sensors and comm system. They are both now working at only about 30%, and now both turrets are having difficulty locking onto targets. Vampire 3 is not there anymore, it must have exploded and from the burst of radiation you can guess at what kind of explosion it was!
Vampire 4 & 5 continue to close on you fast!
Space Combat Round 5 Begins
Bottom Line for Round 5:
Sigrun needs 12 to hit the either Vampire 4 or Vampire 5.
Donovan needs 12 to hit the either Vampire 4 or Vampire 5.
As soon as the explosion happens and the ship shudders,
Flighty sees Red lights flash on his console. There is a hull breech in the cargo area. Sensors are down to 32% and Comm down to 28%. Avionics and other controls are still Green.
Flighty sees that the ship will reach his new calculated Jump Point in a little under 10 more minutes, and doesn't think either of those missiles can get into range before then, but if they are nuclear armed? He's not sure he has 10 more minutes now.
Doug has gotten the systems prepared to switch to Jump at a moment's notice, turned off the fuel purifier, and depressurized the ship. Back in Engineering
Doug feels the ship shudder and sees the readings on his controls and its effect on the ship's external systems. This shouldn't affect the ship's ability to enter jump space, but it will have an effect on things when she emerges in the Regina system and repairs are going to be impossible while the ship is actually in jump.
Karcsi has the fire-control supplies ready and is prepared to deal with any damage from a hit on the ship...as best as can be done. Red lights flash on
Karcsi's console, a minor hull breech in the cargo hold. The ship is depressurized, so there's no explosive decompression, but that hole needs seeing to, and doing it now before the ship enters jump makes it impossible is a priority.
Zaki is still in the Computer Room, having just swapped Maneuver for Maneuver/Evade when she feels the ship shudder...something has hit, but it doesn't appear to have done a lot of damage. That's all she knows at the moment.
Sigrun feels personally affronted at the misses as she fires on Vampire 1, exulting in killing it and sending threats to the Bogie which never make it outside the ship. Then her screens go black, and the ship shudders from what feels to her like a minor hull strike. The screens come back up, but greatly degraded. She can see two missiles in bound, but they aren't in the same places as before, new missiles. Two more at very long range. Where is the Bogie ship? Gone?
Donovan feels much better after splashing one of the missiles. He thinks the ship will have jumped for sure before Vampire 3 can get to them, but he fires on it and misses. Then his screens go black, and the ship shudders. The sensors flicker and come back online, but...Drat! He can't see anything! There are big gaps of nothing on his monitor, slowly, they begin to close as adjacent sensors readjust to expand coverage to areas now blown away or burned out, but that gives a very, very grainy view of the space around them in the direction where the missiles were coming in from. Sweat again trickling down his back, Donovan picks up signals from the ships in the area and then two more signatures, two more missiles in bound...but no Bogie. It should be among the blobs that are the other ships, but it doesn't appear to be there.
