Growler-
With Silencer’s statement confirmed by the Inertial Locator, Growler will stop and let out a deep breath!

”well then, let’s take our time. How’s about we stop and shop our way to the ship? Metz, do you and I want to go back and throw some psi energy at the blank panels to see if there is a reaction, then catch up? I suspect the others are dead or inactive. Want to confirm?”

"I want to, but the boss said we stay together, and I think that is a stellar idea. We can come back if nothing else interferes. I have to confess I want to see the control room, though. It might be the only way to get back out of here with our ship and at least taking a pee will perhaps give us some information."

William nods. "No splitting up yet until we have been through the whole place once let's check what appears to be the control room and in the room with the big globes while we head to the ship."

I wanted to mention the ravine floor earlier but got caught up in the excitement

The globe chamber is entirely empty other than a plinth in the center. When anyone approaches, a holographic display of the moon appears, rotating around the gas giant real time with a sea of stars around it. Metz will be curious and play with the controls a little. He is able to zoom in on the crater and even see your hidden grav bikes. It is possible to zoom inside the moon and deep under the crust.

He can also zoom out and locate the Imperial ship. It is a destroyer escort and orbiting the gas giant behind the moon. It looks normal for a ship in space.

Even as far as Aki, he can zoom to the planet and see events in orbit or on the surface in seeming real time. Other stars are possible, but a look at Glisten shows no habitation. It must be recorded data from a long time ago.

"This is amazing, but not something we can haul off with us," he said regretfully. "Madam Treegarden will be pleased, though. Shall we check the control room and then the ship?"

I figured someone would see it. I'm not that subtle. ;)

Growler-
Let me get this straight. This projection shows real-time in-system imagery. Out of system...at least Glisten...is recorded data? That's gonna be a cool find as to how that works.

Can we zoom in on the ship a minute? Anything to see there? Zoom around the moon a little to see if there are any other facilities here. Anything there?

If not, Growler will go with the group to the next stop.

It doesn't zoom inside the base. Just shows black. Maybe it's a security feature.

He does look around the moon, but nothing pops.

With Growler leading the way, you bypass the shafts going up and down and all make your way into the control area.

This large circular chamber has a raised dais in its very center, with a smaller dais above it. Statues, mostly of Droyne, are scattered about the chamber, with a shelf-like structure around the outside. The dais has a staff stabbed into the stone. It's obvious from the cracks around it that it wasn't meant to be there.

The bright silver staff comes to about to shoulder height on a human, is carved with intricate scrollwork, and is capped by a milky globe of crystal or something like it. The light deep inside it swirls slowly and Growler feels a PSI resonance from it. A strong one.

They open the suit and re3veal that the late wearer was human. "Appears so, yes. He's probably the oldest human any of us has ever seen." She records what data she can gather, but doesn't take anything.

That done, Jaelah continues to trail the group.

Garvin says "The only other explanation was that someone somehow transported our ship somewhere else. The problem with the logical deduction there is currently that's a perfectly reasonable possibility! Let's take it steady. Loads of data capture after we've 'alf inched stuff o' course! He smirks as he asides to Jaelah "Pardon my "French" there, miss! I think that used to be quite the insultin' term - I think in proper Imperial they're called "realtors" now". He smiles and goes on to amuse himself in the redundancy "That's the folk 'oo sell gaffs to other folk - realtors. The... er... other kind of folk - they're just still called... Well, would you look at that! Nice architecture an' no crusty old dead folk - charmin'!"

Growler-
"Well, well, what have we here? It's calling to me. Metz? I'm curious, can you reach out to it? Will it respond?

If no response to Doc, Growler will reach out to the staff Telepathically.

Metz tried, but nothing happened, and he shook his head. "No. It must want the real deal, not the technical version."
Thumper wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 2:58 am If no response to Doc, Growler will reach out to the staff Telepathically.
The globe brightened and the swirling sped up. Growler--and everyone else--hears a voice responding to him. "At last, it is time. May you and your associates fare better than my Master. Use the gifts he grants wisely and well. Do not let them corrupt or set you apart from your people as they did my Master's father, brothers and sisters, children, nieces and nephews. Remember the name Azoyusakuno--who left this life by his own choice--and the power he has bestowed upon you. Be worthy of it."

The orb on the staff flashes as bright as a flashbulb, momentarily blinding each of you. The strobe seems to go right through your skulls and light everything inside you. And then it is gone, leaving you disoriented. This is quickly followed by a loss of balance, blurred vision, hearing loss, and a sharp headache. Oddly, even Roscoe isn't immune. It combines to give you a thoroughly unpleasant few minutes before it fades away.

Once it passes, you see the orb has disintegrated, turned to dust, or simply vanished. You don't know which. The silver metal is in the process of melting like wax, quickly turning into a puddle on the floor and evaporating into nothingness. Within a few more seconds, only the cracked floor that had held it up for uncounted millennia remains.

He finally pushed a button he can't walk back or run away from. ;)

If I'm understanding you correctly Garvin absolutely has the "front" to (quite openly and honestly) attempt to "chat up" Ms Treegarden (for only the most straightforward of reasons). He's a classy criminal and she's most definitely a classy agent. Mind you he also has the skills to attempt to sell her a bridge... but she'd know... which, of course, is both the challenge and the point.

It's more than a flash. I updated it so read the post again. You are somewhat dibilitated. All of you are. Let's see for how long...

Two minutes of some pretty rough moments.

"Why do I feel sick?" Roscoe asked. "I'm not biological. At least not at the moment." He's going to sit on the floor as his balance is shot. "This sucks."

Metz will join him, saying nothing.

"I'll seriously consider it," he said as you helped him up. "Thanks. What the bleeping hell was that? What was it?"

Then he shook his head. "No. Medical care first. We need to get to the ship and make sure that it didn't do something awful."

<insert other in character recriminations here>

Getting to the bay you saw on the feed is simple enough as more than half of you would have the grav skill or would likely have loaded it. (I'll have to ask for a skill list next time you go out.) Holding onto others, you go up the shaft and down the indicated corridor. There in a large bay is your ship.

Or is it? It looks...different somehow. Is it bigger? No. Longer. And maybe a bit wider in engineering.

"The ship is different," Roscoe said. "I have reconnected with my onboard program, and it seems there have been some changes. It's safe to go in, but don't be shocked that there has been some...redecorating. It seems the base decided some upgrades and changes were in order, like making our ship twice the size it was a few hours ago.

"Bilis says she will explain, but I think we need to get to the medical bay first and do some scans to be sure we aren't in danger. We can explore what happened as soon as we start that. I think our lives just got significantly more complicated."

Boarding goes easily enough, but the interior layout has changed. A lot. Back to you.

See the new deck plans for details.
