Re: 003: On the Road to Aki
He stopped right there in the entrance area.

On the left-hand route of the two on the left side of the room, the chamber has no furnishings but is filled with neatly stacked machinery and components that seem to have been moved from somewhere else. It is stored in a lightweight framework of tubes and rods resembling a modular shelving system. Most of the machinery is large and bulky, and its function is not obvious. It resembles the machinery on the chamber you found that had been partly dismantled. Most of this equipment is bulky and at least partially dismantled. The spybots can see a lot of it, but if you want to really know what is in the pile, you'd have to spend time digging into it.
On the right-hand route of the two on the left side of the room, looks to have a central dais and machinery in the walls around it. It's purpose isn't immediately clear.

Jaelah trails the main group, gathering data and watching behind them.

So far, just stuff. Oh, and a long-dead person in some kind of battledress.

Re: 003: On the Road to Aki
I forgot to mention something in the room with the dead body. There is a closet with things hanging in them there as well. Suits that look to be sized for Drone, Human, and Vargr. Roughly a dozen each. All look alike, other than being made for a different species. They look like some kind of vacc suit.
They look like this.
A light, flexible coverall with what appear to be thick shoulder guards, and a waist-length cape attached at the shoulders. The helmet is flexible, but very light. The suit uses a belt powerpack rather than a backpack. In addition to the usual tool holders the belt also has a cylinder of greyish metal.

William will call Jaelah over to the dead body in the armor. "Do you think this is human?" He will try to remove the armor to see who or what is inside.

I suggest we come back here and collect that combat armor and these suits before we finish here. Just as a contingency, someone want to take and carry a suit with us? Shall we proceed to the pile of machinery and sift through it?”

The shape is right. Removing the helmet is a process, but you figure it out. Inside is a mummified male human corpse. When you roll him over, it looks like something melted the front of the suit and boiled him inside. His rifle matches one recovered from Mad Dog's ship.

"We have no idea how big this base is," Metz said. "We need to look through the equipment, but maybe do a walkthrough first. After all, the suits only have so much air. Unless, of course, we want to strip them off. Once we have a map of everything and what guesses we have at a rooms purpose, we can come back to look at things more closely. This is already an amazing find and likely more than Madam Treegarden ever dreamed of landing in her lap. We're getting good records and that will be enough to take back to her. If we take something, we're rerecord the area with it missing. What she doesn't know won't hurst us."

"I agree with you Growler. I think taking the suit in the body back with us for further examination would be a good idea. Doctor Metz I think your plan is appropriate. Let's do a thorough recon first. I don't want anything to do with those creepy statues."terrymixon wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 1:33 am"We have no idea how big this base is," Metz said. Garvin agrees "Your're not wrong there. Portable high value gear - meat an' potatoes of the trade. Might seem petty since were actually lookin' to flog this as real estate but profitable nonetheless. We should take the Vargr suits too - niche market there but they'll surely pay well to for once "out tech" the guys chasin' 'em an' all the competition at a stroke. Call me romantically old fashioned or maybe I'm just underdog prejudiced but I don't mind levellin' the playin' field. In my experience it tends to make folk more... diplomatic".

Arkar will take the rifle and anything else interesting.terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 10:08 pm Your best guess is that it is some kind of battledress. Not Imperial, though. Looks advanced. There is a rifle under the body that matches one that Mad Dog looted, likely confirming this person was from the crashed ship.

As described, the room has a featureless counter runs around the walls everywhere there is not a door, with a raised dais in the center. Having seen the eating table do things, Metz walks around and places a hand on the counter to no effect. He takes another step, and a holographic display pops up over the counter, making him stop. It shows holographic images of various objects and devices, which can be manipulated by moving hands in the hologram. Metz quickly figures out how to zoom in by expanding the image.helvorn wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 1:46 am"Let's take the right-hand route and come back later and take the other fork."terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 11:51 pm

"This seems like a way to put devices together," he said. "Maybe it's a workshop."
He touches part of the hologram several times and someone behind him sees a small part of a device appear on the dais.
While he is doing that, Roscoe sends the spybots down the corridor and straight ahead, revealing three rooms ahead of you and a side corridor.

The first room is a large chamber has four panels on the wall made of what looks like pure silver, and several devices stand neatly in recesses on the walls. The devices have two handles at the top of an impossibly fragile
looking – but very strong – frame which ends in a short projection.
The second room is similar to the first, but only has two silver panels.
The final room is an oval chamber with exits in its long faces that has depressions in the floor at each end.

You can grab the rifle and one of the alien vacc suits, if you like.ateno wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 2:02 amArkar will take the rifle and anything else interesting.terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 10:08 pm Your best guess is that it is some kind of battledress. ”Groovy Garvy…Great thinking.
By any chance, does that dead guy’s gun match my new rifle? Does it have a charge still?
***Edited***
He’ll grab a human suit and stuff them into his suit pouch and ask someone to do the same with a Vargr suit. Growler tosses a human suit over his left shoulder and ties one of his suit’s tethers to the Ancient suit.

Silencer, how about you and I take point?”

Re: 003: On the Road to Aki
The suits are fabric, but not compressible to fit in a pouch. The rifle is one of the other kinds and dead as a doornail. You probably don't need it since you can fabricate more at need once you figure out how they work.
And where are you going? One of the rooms past the possible workshop Metz is fooling around in?
Also, are you still sans helmet or have you suited back up?
Re: 003: On the Road to Aki
Edited my previous to take one human suit. Even though amazing tech is still at work here, it is a 300,000 year old facility. Something could pop at any time. He’ll have put the helmet back on.
Let’s push past Metz and continue exploring that vein.

Re: 003: On the Road to Aki
You are in the first of the three linked rooms. As described, it is a large chamber with four panels on the wall made of what looks like pure silver. Each are shaped like an oval on its side, three meters tall and six wide. There are several devices standing neatly in recesses on the walls. Each have two handles at the top of an impossibly fragile looking – but very strong – frame which ends in a short projection.
Unlike the spybots, you can feel something from the silver panels. Well, one of them, anyway. Three seem inert, but one feels like it could be controlled psionically from close range. That would be the farthest one on the right side. It even has a little surface shimmer that you can't quite decide is real. Your reflection is almost like looking in a mirror.
