Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
How much of a delay do we see between the arrival of the recon team and everyone else?
Frank is very nervous about getting his family safe ASAP and will need to be there when we pick them up.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Are we heading out almost immediately?
I probably won't have time to bring any new guys in but can give it a go.
I'd like to issue the Snub SMGs we just acquired to my squad, good firepower for both shipboard and urban environments.

Jess'll order some "regular" ammo for those. Frank won't want you spraying the SuSAG Specials around his homeworlddongriffiths wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 12:36 pm Are we heading out almost immediately?

There was some special ammo? I had no idea , I hope that's being properly taken care of.
As Klaus quietly makes sure his pack is out of view.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
SnubSMGs and standard ammo available via your local dodgy arms dealer Mr Solomons. He can supply suppressors but not the integrally suppressed SuSAG "special" weapons or the HEAP(S) ammo. Jess also has another SnubSMG in stores.dongriffiths wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 1:26 pmThe Bindoner wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 1:11 pm

While Jess' QSM's twitch is being aggravated by both "non standard" and "non issue" gear. She will recall the above SnubSMG also came with non standard rounds which will we redesignate HEAP(Z). I'm sure much innocent fun could be had with both varieties... saves 'em sitting on a stores shelf gathering non regulation dust...

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
With those skills and the flexibility they bring I think they're worth it.
One is a Tarsan , but the other worked for SuSAG, which could be really good... or bad.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Ok, so the skills spreadsheet is still missing the skills for a few NPCs, but the following N/PCs have the recon skill:
Frank, 1
Prerna, 1
Kit, 0
Klaus, 1
Walls, 1 (also has stealth 1)

Don't forget sensors and remote ops.
Looking in person is one thing
Long term observation remotely (i.e. Cameras, bugs, radio-mappers, satellites, drones, etc) have turned out to be useful too.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Absolutely, but we'll need people too, partly to help get these things in place.
Frank is going to want Freya to do some work to check out his family for any sign of electronic spyery while he looks out for physical surveillance.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
The Essor Recon Drone is likely to become Freya's new best buddy and, as per the description, just look at how much trouble it can get you in by riding around in it!BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 7:52 pm Don't forget sensors and remote ops.

Against a TL-14 group armed with anti-shipping lasers, I'll let the robot pilot!

I remembered that they were good - I hadn't remembered exactly how good!
Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
I thought I'd bring the discussion of the two offers above over here so we can discuss them OOC as it's probably quicker than IC.Tiglath wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:28 pm
Frank receives two propositions over his breakfast briefing:
Nukkin' Futz Media offer 5MCr to "embed" two reporters with SEMC to harvest both "combat footage" and "sentient interest issues". The company is politically neutral, produces distinctly average journalistic content and would qualify (if that were an appropriate term) in Collace parlance as a media resource for "Lads". There are obvious downsides to media intrusion but the (near sector wide) "free advertising" would be a significant bonus and a business asset.
Lady Hildegarde von Blingin' (who Voss describes as "Collace... ahem... nobility") offers 2MCr apiece to purchase Second Lieutenant commissions in the SEMC for family members. The wily old dowager also offers access to the family right of "Warranted Transfer" useable for (as per Voss' deadpan "the young un's luggage and that"). "Warranted Transfer" is an "ancient right" in District 268 (Voss: "She pronounced a comma after "ancient", sir"). This allows the nobility to send small amounts of cargo in the equivalent of a "diplomatic bag" respected by most if not all Starport authorities within the District and quite possibly into the Imperium.
Nukkin' Futz Media: My vote is no, I can't see this ending well and they will get in the way and put people in danger.
Lady Hildegarde: Again, my immediate response is no, we don't need any Ruperts in the SEMC. The only way I'd accept this is if we get to see the resume and interview first and get the option to reject at this point. We'd also need in writing that they will be treated as any other junior officer, we get the money up front and if they are kicked out in the first year then it would be paid back pro-rata per month they survived. Even with all this I's still need convincing, as they are likely to be entitled idiots who are going to put our people in danger.
Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Prerna agrees with Frank on both counts. "We could accidentally get a worthwhile officer out of the deal, but not while we're operating on your home world."shaidar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 3:17 pmI thought I'd bring the discussion of the two offers above over here so we can discuss them OOC as it's probably quicker than IC.Tiglath wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:28 pm

I don't like the idea of embeds.
The officers I can see a use for.
Jess will find the Luggage Allowance irresistible
The goodwill of a "noble" is not nothing.
The boys can be kept safe in the rear, with no opportunity to cause trouble, if they prove as useless as needing to buy a commission suggests. In fact, even if they are decent officers we ought to keep them out of the firing line - we wouldn't want our income stream injured

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Assuming that her ladyship will agree for us to vet them first, it might at least be worth going that far to see what's on offer. I suppose there is a chance that with a little shaping they might become useful.
I do see joes point about not wanting them on Tarsus though.

Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
We don't need to deploy them at all. They'll be profitably safe at HQ.
Of course, their baggage allowance might be vital... one could stay on the ship in orbit. As Liaison?
I'll generate some of the new recruits over the weekend.
Already got a new driver for the Firefly

Quiet in the cheap seats!
Oh, the filthy minded riff raff they let in here...
Always a rather outré icebreaker to simply present the QSM with an "art pamphlet / grumble mag" but they say fortune favours the brave!
Having vented my puerile spleen I hope to get you landed/established on Tarsus tomorrow...
Re: Collace: Expansion, Promotion, Logistics
Guess what Duran wants to talk about... ?
You will need to take them with the unit for the current job if you take them on and there is of course a no "garrison duty" clause and personal injury waiver.
