Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
Hey everyone,
I'm traveling and will be offline for a week.
We'll pause the game after Chubby Pixie posts, and then resume the action when I return on Friday, September 16th. See you then!

It looks to me like the trapdoor in the ceiling and the grand stairway in the main hall lead to the same place. This may be important later.

If we're trying the two-pronged attack, we need to make sure that both groups can defend themselves until the others arrive.

If Faron can't get the hatch open, we have been saved from our own cleverness.

Faron came back through the trapdoor, down the rope, and is running to rejoin the party.

I'm back. Thanks for you patience, everyone. New DM post is up.
Minor clarification: As per my posts in the IC thread, Faron didn't have time to secure the rope before he was menaced by gigantic rats. So he climbed down the wall instead.

Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
Question for the group re our current situation/strategy. Should we try to leave the Dreamlands now? It looks like we stopped the killer (Arthur). When the undead horde returns, we need to be somewhere else, right?
I'm worried that if we run upstairs or whatever, we might not be able to return and/or run into something even worse.
What do you think?

How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

Its always a gamble, but I don't think we're done.

I think that we need to see what is upstairs.

Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
It could be that the big pack of giant rats that Faron saw at the trap door are at the top of the stairs.
But as was mentioned, we may have already killed the Ripper (Arthur).

Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
The pack of giant rats are on the ground floor (where the PCs are now). Faron climbed through the ceiling of the cellar to find them.
Sorry that having the cellar visible on the same map as the ground floor is confusing things.

Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
We are still alive, so I don't think we are done in here yet either.
Securing the door with spikes will not hold them long, and it will create quite a noise.
If we can cast spells, Bo can probably seal them inside the cellar with his last 3rd level spell. But maybe it would be better to open the front doors to make it look like we escaped, then go look around upstairs instead?
Just spit-balling here.

Re: Eyes at the Threshold (ooc and questions IX)
That's a clever idea! If we can seal the undead below, I propose we do that. A horde that large, even if they think we escaped, is trouble.
That's my take, anyway. Happy to be convinced otherwise.
