Jervis who stopped when Burly said he heard a noise stands wondering what to do as danny and the othersl run upstairs,there is a noise behind the door, and sounds of a fight coming form the other room.

Gripping TRU TEMPER tighter he decides it is best if he goes to defend the small group upstairs and charges up full speed.

Vhing sees the kitchen crew suddenly all run out the kitchen making for...fleeing for the front door?"hey guys, you got spider trouble too?"Thinking perhaps of a nest of eight-legged freaks coming crawling out of the sink plughole to assault us, he raises himself to his feet in the doorframe. Turning to the guys in the room. "Quick guys, can't let the poison flow around Ben's leg too much, we might need to get him to Jervis. Use his axe 'true temptress' to chop his leg off. Grab that spare table leg Jonas. We can fix it up into nice stump for him as a battle memento. Don't worry Ben, we won't leave most of you behind."

Im assuming that the kitchen group went up the back stairs. The ones in the kitchen, not in the front of the house.

No Longer Laughing Spider Attack

Ben drops to his knees as the spider jumps in Keilif's direction, who reacts by swacking at it with his mallet. He sends the thing flying through the air just as Jonas was moving in for another poke.

Alec turns back towards the action and hops over the prone Vhing into the room just as the spider is flying straight for his head. He swings his goblin killer at it and hits it so hard, it splats against the back wall. The dead carcass slowly slides down the ruined moldy wallpaper, leaving a trail of goo, until it hits the rotten floor.

Ben is still alive so far but, he is looking a bit green in the gills. He sits on the floor listening to Vhing ramble on and on, getting more worried by the second.

The kitchen group of Burly, Jervis, and Doubtful quickly ascend the back stairs to follow after the disappearing Danny. (please check your private threads for upstairs action)

Vhing points to the carcass of the spider. "Perhaps Doubtful can identify its type. Know what sort of poison it uses. Some spiders drag you off to eat later. Some just feast and lay eggs in your dead body. Might be harmless and he was just pissed cus Jonas was torching his lair?" Vhing hopes for the best.

"We could make a stretcher using an old door and carry Ben back to Saltmarsh if needed but two hours plus is a long time if he is poisoned. Perhaps we had better search around for a medicine cabinet or some lotions the old chemist might have stashed away."

Vhing will use his penknife to cut away the back of the armchair upholstery and search through for any products hidden away.

Keilif casts a concerned look at Ben, and speaks to Vhing in a hushed tone so as not to cause the poisoned man to panic, "You are right, two hours travel could mean the man's life. Perhaps we can find something to neutralize the poison." He then speaks to Ben, "Ben you need to be as calm as possible. We will find something to help." Keilif then walks over to the box that was found in the fireplace and opens it, hoping to find something to assist his companion.

"Wait!" Jónas stops Keilif, then reaches in with the 10' pole and tries to swipe the box out from its compartment and the fireplace.

Jonas digs around up the chimney with his pole but isn't able to retrieve the small box from the void in the bricks. Keilif isn't going to let that stop him from getting that presumed treasure. He pops back inside and quickly retrieves the box, unmolested this time.

The little wooden box is very ornate, with beautiful carvings on the top and sides. It is about the size of a child's fist. You can hear something rattling around inside but can't tell how the thing opens. There is a tiny hole through one side but otherwise, no other obvious opening mechanisms.

Vhings chair upholstery search fails to turn up any poison antidote.

The group begins to hear some shuffling noises coming from somewhere above them.

Ben turning more green vomits all over the floor. "Is this what's it like to be sea sick...?,"he utters meekly. A minute passes and he's heaving forward again spilling his guts with seemingly little patience for where it ends up...

Keilif:

Keilif offers Ben some water from his waterskin, and tries to give what little comfort he can to the young man. He then sits down to further examine the intricate box. He gently rattles it, tries to blow in the small opening, and looks for any seams in its construction.

If Keilif's tinkering with the box is ineffective, he will ask Vhing and Jonas if they have any suggestions on getting it open.

May I de box look at? Alec will mentally compare the box to the pocketful of gadgets and toys that his buddy Snowflake always seems to have around.

Which stairs did the run up, I though Danny followed the dust trail?

"we should search the kitchens, most likely place for lotions and antidotes.Vhing says, looking at Ben.we'll need to take the poison out Ben, have to slash open the wound. Either me or Alec should give you a little love bite and drain it out. Unless puking up has made you better?"

If Ben faints, Vhing will carry him in a firemans' lift style over his shoulder. Vhing if needed, will suck the poison out in snakebite fashion. Otherwise he'll head off to search the kitchen.

If he is given the box, he tries to push the 10' pole a needle (he might have one with himself, as he works with textile and leather often!) into the small hole. He also tries to move the box to check if the thing rattling inside can fall out through the hole.

"Let's search the kitchen, then go upstairs with the others," he agrees with Vhing.

Ben shakes his head "Hasn't made me feel better but I don't know if I want a slimy kiss from you to clean it out!," he finishes with a smirk. "Let's move on for now... hey! - don't us wounded get a greater share of the treasure?! I head that somewhere I am sure of it!"

He pukes.

Vhing Cranepool

With Ben puking up the remains of breakfast rather than 'giving up the ghost', Vhing feels the immediacy of antidote searching is not required. Ignoring the mess in the kitchen of Doubtfuls' pot snare equipment and the cupboards, Vhing will try the door. "Washing up sinks and cooking all foreign to us bro's. Ma ruled her kitchen like a castle, never allowed in...the pantry though, we kids raided that all the time!"

Vhing figures that the goblin room with a large table was maybe a dining room, this obviously a kitchen, so perhaps the door leads to a storeroom. In anticipation of finding some hidden goodies (wine bottle, tin of old chocolate...).

Ben feels bad. Ben pukes a lot. But, so far, Ben still seems functional. Vhing offers his lip services to the wound but the hardy sailor distastefully declines.

Nobody really seems concerned that over a third of the party has already disappeared up the back stairs of the house. The main focus seems to be on the contents of the little box, despite Vhings sudden urge to see the kitchen.

The box is examined closely but no means of opening it are discovered. Jonas pokes a large sewing needle into the tiny hole and can feel a small spherical object inside, but it is far to big to get through the tiny hole. Blowing into the hole also does nothing. Alec has never seen another trinket like it in his friend Snowflake's eclectic collection. (Feel free to keep trying different things. A hard Int check might reveal a tiny hint)

Ermulf stays in the dining room, quietly practicing archery against the wall with his new crude goblin bow.

Vhing gets restless and goes to investigate the door in the kitchen. He finds that the knob turns freely, indicating that the room beyond is not locked. The others eventually follow.

On the way to following Vhing into the kitchen, Keilif continues to attempt to find out how to open the tiny, ornate box, but it's mysteries remain locked to him. He then passes it off for someone else to try.
