Focus Specialist to level 2 for Healing
3 skill points to increase Healing to level 2 (since Specialist grants Heal I think this is allowed).
Level 1 of Specialist grants you any skill. Level 2 of Specialist does not grant you any skills or skill points.
Don't assume that taking a Focus means you also get 3 more skill points. It's only when you take a new Focus at Level 1, and it grants a bonus skill, that you can think of it as granting you 3 skill points in that skill.
If you were already at Heal-1, you can use the 3 skill points you get for leveling up from 1 to 2 to move to Heal-2.
Heal was already at level 1.
I think we're good here. You're using the 3 skill points you get from leveling up to raise Heal from 1 to 2.
I got nervous because you said "since Specialist grants Heal I think this is allowed" and I wanted to make sure you didn't think raising Specialist from 1 to 2 gave you any skill points because it does not.

Sorry, forgot how HP worked in this system:
L2 HP: [2d6+4]=8+4=12
+2 for Con = 14 HP

Folks: my personal life is changing, and I'm finding that RPG's don't hold the appeal they always have. I'm taking a hiatus for a while. I don't know when or if I'll be back. The game has been a lot of fun, and I've enjoyed the friendship.
If anyone is wondering; Mom is improving slowly, and will be heading home soon.
Good luck to you all!

Glad to hear about your mom, Urson.
If the game is still running if/when you decide to come back, your spot will be open!

I have one new player lined up, and I've reached out to a couple other folks. We will get started again soon.
If there is anything else that the current players want to do in Ket during this downtime, now is the time to post about it.

Best of luck, Urson! I enjoyed your RP here. I am glad your mom is improving; always focus on life first. If you ever want to come back, play-by-post is the most forgiving medium for busy old people.

I am up for whatever the players want to do. If you would rather go back out into the wilderness now, we can have the new player(s) find you wherever you are.

It doesn't mater to me. My post was just to give us an option to pick them up there.

Since it's going to be a while until our new players get up to speed, let's restart the game with you three. Figure out your next steps and let's keep moving.

So, to be clear, you are returning to the sandstone, then heading toward the noise of rushing water, then when you find the water you are going to follow up toward the swamp (presumably N-NW)?
And this means you are not going to Ket at all?

I think everyone took a few days off for the 4th of July holiday. I am going to fire things up now that we're back to "normal".
New IC thread is up!

I was nervous about setting you against a 5 HD Large Solitary Predator so I decided to use a 2 HD Bull Pig instead. I really need to stop pulling my punches, especially now that you're all 2nd level.
That's supposing we all hit and it misses!
We're all 2HD creatures now and we're focused on a heavy-hitter, crowd control, and a fighting healer. An even fight against three Bull Pigs would be interesting (allowing Lavin to do an "I get in the middle and hit EVERYONE" move). We're a total of 6 HD, so I expect we could've handled a 5HD foe - especially if we get three attacks and it gets one.
We can put out a LOT of damage (since we skewed so heavily to combat during the world-building conversations), but we're still a little squishy. The main advice from Kevin Crawford is that 1st level characters should know better than to ever fight... they must remember how squishy they are, with single hits killing them. At second level we CAN fight, as long as the dice are in our favor. When they're not we are still squishy and we must mind that risk. I expect we're still going to be a bit cautious.

I just added The Wanderer to the Forum so he should be jumping in soon and creating a PC. ybn1187 is also due to make a PC soon.
The kid gloves are off! Time to see what this fully operational battle station can do.

I am loathe to reveal metadata to the players but you are the first party to have stumbled across a dungeon in this game!
I may use published modules in the future but, for this one, I am going to give WWN's procedural generation rules for Ruins a spin and see how they work.
Bear with me as there may be some fits and starts.

This is my first WWN dungeon, so I'm excited to see how it plays out!

Should be interesting at least. New to the system so will see how they did with the random generator part.
