Part 2: The Roads ahead
Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Brother Wilken - HalfOrc Cleric (AC 2. HP 22/22)
Since no other character expressed an interest in the healing berries, Wilken eats 6 and heals to full.
He offers the other 2 points of healing to the paladin if he wants them (or discards them if no one is interested in them).
At the campsite, Brother Wilken cubes and braises the meat, heads to the waterfall to gather some clean water, adds some potatoes, onions, carrots and water to the Ale and set's the whole thing to simmer ... the stew comes out perfect.
The meat cuts with a fork and some fresh herbs gathered in the forest make the flavor pop.
He offers to share with anyone who wants a hot meal rather than dried rations, but has ho high expectations ... half-orcs learn to expect rejection (which is why he can cook in the wilderness in the first place).
Wilken finishes supper, cleans up, heads to bed and agrees to take last watch.

Arastor will take third watch.
Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Krakus- Pheras, I would be glad to have your company during watch. As for your question about magic my people have great fear of magic. When I first left my homeland I feared magic because that's how was I raised. But since I have been away from my homeland. I have seen magic used many times since departure. I would say it mostly helps those in need. I've also seen it used for evil.

Pheras "Magic can indeed be a dangerous thing, holding a great power within one's hand can drive the most sane insane. That's why one of the most basic lessons is to learn self restrain, control magic, don't let it control you. Or at least thats what my mentor used to say, well not say, ummm......just what he conveyed to me", Pheras is surprised at his ability to make a conversation going, he always thought it to be much harder than this.

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Random encounters will be rolled by me as follows.
1D6 for the 1st Watch
1D6 for the 2nd Watch
1D6 for the 3rd Watch
1D6 for the 4th Watch (if There is one)
If a roll of a 1 or a 2 there will be a random encounter. If a roll of 6 the I may decide to force an encounter based on my whims. The rest are a clear and easy watch no encounters.
First Watch [1d6] = 3
The first watch goes peacefully and the second watch begins.
Second Watch [1d6] = 4
The second watch also goes peacefully nothing unusual is heard or seen. Third watch starts.
Third Watch [1d6] = 4
Third watch is as uneventful as the first two watch shifts. Rethor awakens to take 4th watch with whomever wishes to join him.
Last Watch [1d6] = 1
About one hour left in the last watch as the sun is starting to peak through the forest Rethor and whomever is on watch with him hears something coming through the trees in the forest near camp from the sounds of it, it is something bigger than a gnoll.
Rethor does not wake anyone else unless the other watch person thinks it is wise. They don't know what it is that is in the forest it may be just a bear.

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Brother Wilken notices what looks like an oversized bear with an odd looking non-bear head romping through the woods nearby the party's camping spot. Rethor too spots the beast. I looks like this. Rethor to Wilken "Shh don't make any sudden movements. I think that's an owlbear." he says in a very low tone trying not to grab the beasts attention.

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Brother Wilken slowly withdraws to quietly wake the others and inform them of the large beaked bear approaching the camp.

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
The owlbear now notices the party and heads towards the camp. Rethor backs away fearing for the horse and mule. As the owlbear thrashes into the camp from the woods heading at the closest party member presently Brother Wilken.

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Pheras takes his sling and shoots a regular bullet at the owlbear
Attack: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3, Damage: [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5
crit......bad crit

Brother Wilken - HalfOrc Cleric (AC 2. HP 22/22)
Obeys his first instinct and does what any respectable thief does when confronted by a charging bear ... runs up a tree and slings rocks at the creature.
Sling+1 (stone) = Hit: [1d20+2] = 11+2 = 13 ; Dam S/M/L: [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4; ROF=1 Range=4/8/16
(although slinging might be a 'round 2' action)

Re: Part 2: The Roads ahead
Pheras looses his grip on the staff and it slips from his hands apparently they were a little sweaty this morning. Luckily a mage does not require a weapon in hand to do damage to a foe.
