Let us be clear here of the situation. There is a 10' pit, 40' of mud and a 10' pit. The corridor keeps going to extent of your light source after that. There is no end of the corridor.

Ahhh sorry. My mistake. It looks like it was the end of the corridor on the map after the second pit

By my count there at 5 50' coils in the groups possession. (Qleceec, Raffi (now with Hex) and Garrant x3 (one with Hex))

The problem isn't crossing the pit, that is easy. The problem is the mud/quick sand on the other side.

The Highway -
Moonday, 17th day of Planting, 597
12th day since leaving Loftwick

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 62/63)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Boff (AC 5, HP 61/61)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 48/48) (Continual Light rock)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 60/65, Armor 25/26) (Glowing Sword)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 49/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 6/8) (Continual Light coin) (Detect Illusion: 16)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8) (Glowing Dagger)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)

Nah Olos is moving down the hall slowly (9' per round because it is slippery) with this round and last round makes it almost to the location of the secret door that Hex has been letting the party know about. Hex calls back about a wizard dresses in blue and that he is concentrating very hard and that he is going to stick his finger up his nose. As Hex moves forward to do that the wizard takes a few steps back, and when he does the illusion of the of secret door disappears. Hex can see another corridor with lots of loose rock on the ground and the corridor opens up into a room. Before you have much of a chance to see what is inside the Blue Wizard and says a single word, "Now." when suddenly a Wall of Fire appears between Hex and the Blue Wizard. I have included the blue wizard's last known position on the map.

Hex's armor absorbs the 2 HP of damage and Nah Olos is protected by being around the corner, but can feel the heat.

Parties action.

Nah Olos waits for the heat to subside before stepping into the corridor. "What did you do?"

Garrant makes his way to the edge of the first pit and calls out.

"Greetings, sir wizard. I am Garrant, priest of Boccob. We mean you no harm and simply wish to pass by. Is there some way we can pause the situation for a discussion on how we might persuade you to let us pass. I give you my word as a priest of the lord of all magics that there will be no treachery done while we talk."

Just loud enough for Garrant, "That doesn't seem to be working, it may be time to cast dispel magic on the mud since no one is in it right now."

Siouxsie

Familiar with wilderness 'Hallucinatory Terrain', would I get the suspicion after seeing much of the mud and dramatics, that a similar effect is in place here?

I will not discount another similar magic, I would not allow this effect for the exact Hallucinatory Terrain spell.

Hex flies away towards Nah Olos, around the corner from the wall and away from the fiery damage. He concentrates again on his detect illusion spell and glances at the newly revealed hallway, trying to detect any Phantasmal presence once again.

am not sure whether once cast detection spells just work for the duration or need concentration, so let’s try and see.

I added the Detect Illusion remaining time to the main post (16 more rounds). And no you do not think the Wall of Fire is an illusion

Garrant (AC 8, HP 49/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 6/8) (Continual Light coin) (Alter Self: 14 + 3d4, Detect Illusion: 15)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8) (Glowing Dagger)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)

Hex retreats so that the plate mail wearing sylph is "around the corner" from the Wall of Fire. He confirms that it is not an illusion

Qleceec, Boff and Androgost give various queries asking what is going on.

Nah Olos decides to wait out the Wall of Fire and is just hanging out on the wall, but answers to the group "A lot of sudden heat just came out of a side passage."

Garrant pushes himself to the front of the line and calls out "Greetings, sir wizard. I am Garrant, priest of Boccob. We mean you no harm and simply wish to pass by. Is there some way we can pause the situation for a discussion on how we might persuade you to let us pass. I give you my word as a priest of the lord of all magics that there will be no treachery done while we talk."

The voice that Hex described as the Blue Wizard calls back from behind the Wall of Fire and harder to hear but says, "We politely asked you to retreat to the previous work passage and go around. Your lights and noise have summoned the killer flying serpents, only your luck resulted in them moving to the Ethereal plane. You Primers talk of no treachery, but that is all we have seen from you is you are trying to steal our treasure. In my first reply I have given you how to get around, retreat now to the previous work passage and all will be forgiven."

For Nah Olos and Hex only
There is an additional very quiet whisper, "Come on hurry up!"
Parties action.

Nah Olos "You still do not identify yourselves. AT this point, would it not be easier to just let us pass, before we attract something else to your doorstep? Or perhaps you secretly desire a confrontation, like the dragon in the woods we recently killed."

Hex snorts. We clearly know those snakes were not real. Illusions not withstanding, we don’t want your treasure, and we are NOT going back. So get over it. Let us pass peacefully, and we will continue on without looting any of your treasures. We aren’t interested in those besides. We have a job to do, and this moral quandary hand ringing is getting right on my last nerve. the gnome says testily.

Reinforcements are coming. They are up to something behind the wall of flames that appeared in the side passageway. the illusionist call back to his waiting companions.

Raffi nudges Suzie. (I can’t spell the other version sorry). Could you craft a ledge along the wall with a stone shape spell. It needn’t be that wide even and might run quite far across the mud patch as well as the pit.
