"I can "Jump" across the pit but don't have anyway to deal with the mud. Any ideas?"
Would Pass without Trace allow me to move freely through the mud?

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Pass without trace says "When this spell is cast, the recipient can move through any type of terrain - mud, snow, dust, etc. -and leave neither footprint nor scent"
If this is normal mud 100% yes.
If this is magical mud (likely) it would depend if there was something to counter act your spell.
So I have to turn it back to your good judgement.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Hex will ask for a couple of coils of rope, and hand Raffihis backpack, once the halfling has helped Androgost get back to our side of the corridor out of the pit.
He will cast his Alter Self spell, and grow into a sylph. Once his quasi transformation is complete he will try and retain the spell (which he fails)
He will fly across the pit and the mud and check out what’s on the other side. Once he sees an area of tunnel that looks sturdy he will check it for illusions whilst that spell still holds, and then prod it carefully with his staff whilst he hovers to check it’s actually solid before landing.
If he can assist Nah Olos across in some way too he will try.
If he can find some holds to tie the ropes to near the wall passed all the obstacles, so the others can walk across bracing against the wall he will, one to stand on and one above as a hand hold to make it a little sturdier.
We mean no harm guys, we are just passing through in search of the cause of the Earth tremors. We will be gone in a jiffy if you would let us. he says whilst he works.
(This is lpossibky more than one rounds worth of actions.)

Thanks. If need be she will give it a try but only as a last option.

The Highway -
Moonday, 17th day of Planting, 597
12th day since leaving Loftwick
Qleceec (AC 1, HP 62/63)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Boff (AC 5, HP 61/61)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 48/48) (Continual Light rock)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 60/65, Armor 25/26) (Glowing Sword)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 49/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 8/8) (Continual Light coin)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8) (Glowing Dagger)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)
Hex asks for two coils of rope (I will volunteer Raffi's rope and one coil from Garrant) and then leave his backpack with Raffi. Hex then casts Alter Self and transforms into his now familiar sylph. It was not stated, but implied that Hex will leave one end of the each of the ropes with the party and uncoil the ropes as (s)he flies over the dangerous terrain. (S)he crosses the 10' pit and makes it to the location of the secret door, looking closely at the door and then continuing on. The mud area is 40' across and then it is obvious that there is a 10' pit at the other end of the mud. This means that there are 60' of dangerous terrain not counting what you would need to secure it and since the rope is 50' long there will need to be something done. Looking ahead there is going to be a need for something to secure the rope on the upper half, but there is a stalagmite that could be used for the lower rope on the southern side of the tunnel.
Hex does not make it all the way over the mud (much less the second pit) as he is still holding on to the rope.

It was unclear to me which way Nah Olos wanted to head.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Boff standsby ready to help if he can though at this point if it's not pulling someone in on a rope he isn't really sure what else to do.

Can I go and locate the first voice. To see physically who or what is speaking to us.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
If you can cross the pit and half the mud that can take you to where the secret door is labelled and if you can open it the voice was about that place.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Androgost also thinks vainly of an option to cross the mud. "Is this some sorcery that will dispel after some amount time? Or do we need to make some type of rope bridge or something to scale across?"

"Not sure we have enough rope for a bridge, but we could get people across the pit easy enough with what we have, the mud is the issue. It is clearly magical, does anyone have the ability to dispel it?"

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Hex calls back along the corridor. There’s a seven foot tall wizard dressed in blue robes here where the secret door looks to be. The door isn’t real. There looks to be a passageway beyond him. The mud runs to the end of this passage until you come upon another pit that ends at the wall.

Garrant calls out
"A wizard you say? Perhaps we can call a temporary truce and they are willing to speak to me, a cleric of Boccob, in good faith"

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Hex statins his ear to catch the wizard/priests words.
I am about to stick my finger up his nose. So we shall find out!
Raffi sighs loudly and leans in to Frannie. He’s always doing that! he says with a shake of his head.

Hex calls back. Sadly not. So far only the secret door is. But he looks to be concentrating very hard
