Maskelyn
Maskelyn sees the shapes rising and casts Audible Glamer, placing it opposite where his friends are. Sonitus Falsum! He's not doing anything fancy with it- just a bunch of people yelling.

Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Ko-Nan clutches his axe in a death grip, he curses and spits as the forms rise from the slime, "I fuken TOLD you! More cowardess from the Wizard!!" He stands still yet exudes rage.
Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Finver sprints around the corner and spots the outline of stairs in his peripheral vision in a mad dash to avoid becoming infected again.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery: “If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”
Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Mungo views the celestial pool of stars. He's pretty sure that he's in the Nagual, the realm that is within and the other side of the physical world. He's quite enjoying it, but something is nagging at his mind. He tries to follow the thread to the source, and after an odyssey for bookmarking a thought, forgetting and losing his place, and starting over again, he at last uncovers it. It's a proverb, oft-repeated ancient words of wisdom. "Never split the party."
"This is Nagual trip is all well and good," he thinks, "but we need to get back. Where's the cave people shaman?" He calls out to her with his mind, and unconsciously with his mouth too. Cave people shaman! Cave people shaman! Where are you? Can you see us? We have come seeking protection from-- yea verily-- immunity from the slime!

"Uh oh..."
Fiefo will fast walk for the stairs, glancing back over his shoulder as he goes.

Caveman Dwelling near the Starfall, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Morning. Saturday, April 14th, 912 CY

Connak, Draupadi and Mungo bathe in the sublime transcendence of the star pool. Of the shaman-goddess spirit, there is no sign.
"Never split the party," thinks Mungo. Elsewhere, the split party splits itself again.
In the vast cavern of slime, Finver and Fiefo flee as Ko-Nan stands his ground against the great, misshapen ooze creatures rising from the great slime pit! (S1, S2)

Had these horrific things once been tribesmen?!
The post-apocalyptic barbarian curses the wizard, Xygax, whose sinister hand guides all things on this island!
Nearby, Maskelyn the trickster weaves an auditory illusion of voices behind the huge slime creatures. It proves enough to distract them as Finver and Fiefo flee up the stairs toward daylight!
There, they see open sky! Finver and Fiefo find a cavern whose roof was partially sundered by the impact of the falling star! Among the broken shards of that celestial orb, the cavern floor is entirely covered by a gigantic, rippling slime entity!

Their minds cannot take it all in. The Slime God's immense, undulating shape roils and shifts and spawns, as its many mouths utter the thick, wet slurp-speech that Finver had once heard within his mind!
"Finver. You have returned to us. And brought more tribute. Let us share Communion once more! Let us be as one. Join with us, you things from another world."
Actions?!

Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Connak it tingles, but I fear that there is nothing more to be done here. We should rejoin our companions. Either we have the protection or we don't.
Connak will start moving back toward where our companions were left.

Mungo is crestfallen. Maybe she and Verne and Wells don't get along, he mumbles. He follows along.

No witticisms escape Fiefo's lips as his body, seemingly of its own accord, turns and runs back the way he came. It takes him a second to even realize he has fled as the vast and improbable image of the Slime God fills his mind.

Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Ko-Nan glares malevolently at the oncoming slime. His will completely focused on their utter destruction. His concentration is jolted by his comrades fleeing up the stairs! "What!??! You COWARDS!!! Get back here and fight!"
He curses and spits at the whole world.

Re: Chapter 14: Things From Another World
Hiding his trepidation behind a flat affect, Finver curtsies and replies to the Slime God in a tone of calm deference "Oh Green Unified One, these fellas aren't tributes ta ya here. They're guides ta even greater Communions in tha future - after all, many worlds await yer slimy green greatness, and this one is not worthy of yer presence. Allow us ta help ya find a portal ta expand yer new reign ta somethin' more fitting of yer sliminess. Yer subjects realize ya've been a prisoner here too long. Glory to tha Green Slimed One ferever! He darts his eyes to Feifo checking his frozen face for reactions and trying to signal him to follow Finver's lead.

Maskelyn half-hears Finver's line of baloney. He grins, and half-whispers He's stealin' my lines... Trickster, he's doing yer sacred work- please leave him alone, so he can continue.
