Agax Gryyg, game mage:
The dreaming wizard said, low, grim and quiet: "The druid can. But are they not under the dread command of their vampire lord? I rather suspect they'll not listen to reason, friend Castran. It will take more than conversation.
"Shinyah can you take control of these dogs and bring them to heel?"
"If we kill them all, when they don't return from patrol, their master will know something in his little fiefdom is decidedly wrong. Should any survive, their master will know quicker, and he'll know all about us. It would be best to Charm them and leave no marks upon them. Otherwise," Agax said darkly, "we've no choice but to kill them all."
If Shinyah could not dominate them with his will, then Agax would act before the wolves reached them.
He would raise his voice, uttering mysterious, unrecognizable words of power from another dimension, that of the enigmatic, cosmic Gamers of Urth: "Tolkien! Howard! Burroughs! Lovecraft!"
KRAKA-BOOM!
The game mage casts Lightning Bolt, firing jagged arcs of white hot electricity from his eyes!

Re: 9. Five Months Later
Scarlett draws her mace and readies herself for action. These last few weeks she has been pensive thinking of the road ahead and what direction the blessing of Samar will take her. I thought entrance into the celestial heavens would be through some gates of pearl not rusty wrought iron and headless bouncers.
She curses at the sight of these wolves, "diabolical beasts coming to 'steal kill and destroy'. I sense in this place the shepherd has been struck so that the sheep may scatter. Time for a shield of faith and a word of power",. Eager to impress the new comers... ( err I mean shining knight oh so ignorant on the road always looking at the pretty dainty dish with the golden hair and curvy weapons of mass distraction, I should have gone rogue for a night in the woods and sneaked up on her and cut off them goldie locks and would he look at her then oh bless my carnal nature must be time of the month again, damn Samar for making me female....)
Scarlett goes through random thoughts before uttering a Samaric war cry and casting 'prayer of Blessing' spell.
Bless spell cast.

Those of you who are "preparing for battle," please go ahead and make your attack rolls unless your character will only defend this round.
Re: 9. Five Months Later
Lar says, "Stand ready friends and near me to receive Ohama's gifts. Allow the others magics to assist us before we fight in melee. Protect and shield the casters. Form an arc to my left and right, with the casters behind us. Form a circle around the casters if the wolves try to surround us."
Lar readies his shield and blade and will attack if the wolves move into melee.

"This are not ordinary wolves," says Shinyah. "They are Worgs: more intelligent than ordinary wolves, meaner than even the dire wolf, and of evil intent. I might be able to charm one of them, but I cannot bring the entire pack to heel."

On seeing the worg wolves, you quickly circle up into a formation designed to protect your spell casters and prepare for the attack. Scarlett utters a Samaric war cry and asks for her god's blessing on the upcoming fight. Bogdana begins casting a spell of Sanctuary to allow her to move about during the combat and heal without being accosted by the worgs.
Shinyah points at the closest two worgs and gives the command, "Attack!" Honeynose rushes at the worg to the north of the road, hitting the snarling worg on the snout with one mighty paw and knocking it to one side. The big bear bites one of the prone worg's legs as the worg manages to turn its head enough to sink its teeth into the bear's side (-7 HP). Meanwhile, Treescratcher lopes toward the worg just south of the road. The bear catches the worg with both arms in a great bear hug, squeezing the life out of it before the worg even has a chance to yelp.
Agax surveys the battlefield, looking for an opening to safely call forth a bolt of lightning. The worgs are spread out and close to the forest, but there is one to the north (W1) that Agax can target without also setting fire to the forest. He fires the lightning bolt. The worg jumps to the side, avoiding the full brunt of the blast, but its fur smokes and stinks of burned leather.
Petyr throws his spear at one of the worgs, but it lands well short of its target.
The worgs, except the one fighting Honeynose, run around to the back of the circle to gang up on Petyr, Bogdana, and Bragar. Lar maintains his position, protecting the inside of the defensive formation.
Two worgs (W1, W2) converge on Petyr; the first almost trips over itself, but the other bites clean through an opening in the neck of Petyr's armor. Blood gushes from the wound (Critical hit! -8 HP). Two more wolves (W5, W6) start toward Bogdana then lose interest. One attacks Petyr instead, sinking its teeth through the armor on Petyr's leg (Another critical hit! -8 HP). Gragog and Shinyah each pierce one of Petyr's attackers (W2) with their spears.
The other worg (W5) joins its remaining pack mate (W7) in attacking Bragar. The first worg is unable to pierce the cleric's armor, but the other manages to bite the dwarf's left arm (-6 HP). Bragar and Castran knock the wolf (W7) back with mace, sword, and axe.

Agax the Dreamer, game mage:
"Bodgana, my dear girl, would you please be so good as to heal Petyr?" Agax said detachedly. "Lar, would you kindly come about and flank the wolves on Petyr?"
Then the dreaming wizard joined in helping Petyr, who was nearly overrun with black fur and white fangs.
Once more, he chanted impossible syllables of mystic power from another plane of existence: "Zelazny! Moorcock! Hammett! Dick!"
Red beams of solid light exploded from his alien eyes like arrows of scalding starlight, and fired upon one of the lupine abominations!

Scarlett sees little choice but to press an attack, her spells mostly defensive. Aided by her bless spell (+1 to hit and damage?) she will attack the warg due south W7. "Your fangs will hang as a necklace trophy around my neck" she declares.
Melee attack: to hit 11, damage 4 (12 and 5).

The worgs act quickly. Three of them continue to gang up on Petyr, and two deliver nasty bites to his left leg and right arm (-3, -4 HP). Petyr tries to counterattack with his axe but his injured arm can't put any force behind the attack. Bogdana steps closer to Petyr and heals the wounds that were just inflicted (+7 HP).
The worg fighting Honeynose snaps at the bear, but Honeynose bats the worg away with a huge paw then rips out its throat with a powerful bite. The worg lies still.
The other two worgs attack Bragar. The same worg that bit him before (W7) gets in another bite (Bragar: -3 HP). The other still can't get through his armor. Bragar responds with a mighty blow to the skull with his mace. Somehow, the worg remans standing, angry but a bit dazed. Castran tries to help finish the creature off, but the worg evades his blows. Scarlett comes around to assist; she puts her mace to the worg's already-dazed skull. The worg falls the ground, still snarling angrily, but barely able to move.
The battle is turning decisively in the party's favor. Gragog skewers one worg (W2) in the heart, ending it. Lar, swinging around to join the battle, kills another (W1). Shinyah's spear finds the flesh of the third worg that attacked Petyr (W6) and Agax's magic missile spell finishes it off in a spectacular shower of sparks. Treescratcher, having just hugged one worg to death, runs into the melee. The big bear stands on its hind legs, raises both arms wide, then brings them down together on the remaining worg (W5), picking it up with its sharp claws, biting out a huge chunk of its flesh, and squeezing it to death . Treescratcher throws the limp worg's remains to the ground.
You easily put the one worg that remains barely alive out of its misery.
Although the party took some damage, the battle is over almost as soon as it had begun. Dare you hope that every enemy you encounter in this place will be so easy to defeat?
