Here are the base stats for my dude. Need a name and to finish up some backstory details.

Keehnelf: What I'm thinking with underfoot-wise is that this guy is used to operating at a height disadvantage. So things like using his small stature to escape notice, avoid attack, exploiting folks higher center of gravity against them etc. Is this too broad?

Also, love the set up. Fantastic stuff.

I'll have instinct's goals and full gear tomorrow. Woohoo!

Hah, yeah. I thought 'I cannot be harmed' + 'Always examine unknown phenomena' + Foolhardy 1 would make for some great moments. I foresee lots of in-character face palms from the rest of the party. :)

Given when and where Wises come into play, at first blush it seems OK--though we'll see in play! If it's a problem I'll let you know. Though my Instinct is that it will create interesting new opportunities beyond what you've listed, which is always great.

Also, looks good overall!

Am I reading it right, that you plan to grab the Orb for yourself once it's found? If so, sweet :) I'm not immediately seeing any holes apart from noting that of the two more or less complete sheets I've got so far, neither has the Dungeoneering skill--and it's not essential but having only one person in the party with it might cause problems down the road depending on what happens.

Edit: Scratch that, NOBODY has Dungeoneering of the three of you. We can move forward if you want but I just want to note that navigating underground terrain hazards will be VERY difficult for this party as presented.

As to the goal: I assume that we are working together to get the orb and that the split of the reward would be enough to assuage my creditors. For the moment at least. Harlan is a friendly guy, and wealth/success without people to share it with isn't attractive to me. As an orphan, Harlan is very aware of how dependent he is on his associates, mentors and friends. That being said, if anyone were to try and cut him out of the pot, there would be trouble...

As far as Dungeoneering goes, I'm not sure what the solution is. Can a party member make dungeoneering a specialty even if its not a class/hometown skill?

Haha, good answer.

With regard to Specialties, yes--you can choose anything from the Specialty list even if you don't get it elsewhere. You just get it at Rank 2 instead of +1 to whatever its current level is (max 4).

In which case I'm happy to take -1 to Cook in exchange for +2 to Dungeoneering.

Replacing Cook might be the safest choice, since mine is also one that we'd be without if I switched it (Healer). This way we'd at least have someone with each skill, even if they aren't the best.

Simon, Harlan's overall goal made me laugh, because when we got to the 'find the orb' session of the adventure, I was thinking of putting my own Goal as, 'Take the orb myself and donate it to my Home'! If you don't mind, or think it would be a lot of fun to throw that tension in once (if) we get to the orb, then I'll keep it. After all, this is supposed to be a game where the success of the party is less important than the narrative that comes out of their inevitable failure!

Amen brother. I'm in. Nothing like a little high-stakes negotiation between friends. And why bother having beliefs if your not willing to kill people over them?

This is shaping up nicely.

Starbeard wrote:For equipment:

Since the only combat equipment I can use is a dagger, I might as well carry a 10' pole and tie a rope around my torso. That leaves me 4 more satchel slots (5 really, since I can put a small sack in my satchel). My guess is 1-2 rations would be good, which leaves me with 3-4 to fill with whatever adventuring equipment no one else is taking.

And if I haven't gotten to it yet, pleased to meet you all. Hopefully we'll rock this adventure, and if not, we should have a lot of fun failing miserably each step of the way!
Have you got an updated gear list? You can check the other players' gear in the character sheet thread to see what they're missing!

Quick notes on containers:

Satchels only have 3 inventory slots due to taking up less Torso/Worn inventory slots.
Sacks and other containers take up their "empty" inventory space plus the size of whatever they contain while being held in other containers.

Ah, okay. Wait, so if it a sack takes up 1 + 2 slots (empty inventory space + containment slots), then a backpack takes up 2 slots but sack 3? I must be interpreting that wrong.

Here, I'll update it to replace the satchel + rope for a backpack, then: viewtopic.php?p=114590#p114590

A full small sack takes up 3 slots if you try to stuff it in another container. If you're just holding it in your hand, it takes up the one carried slot.

The backpack takes up two Worn slots, but I don't believe it has a rating for how much space it takes up if you stuff it inside another container (probably can't be done because it's too big).

The idea is: empty sacks can be stowed fairly easily but are designed to be carried once you fill them up. Full sacks don't magically create more space for you in your other containers :)

Worn, Carried, and Pack slots are all variable (and distinct) encumbrance types so it's not really fair or meaningful to translate from one to the other.
