OOC Discussion

#1 Post by Keehnelf »

Anything OOC but campaign-related can go here. OOC is not entirely off-limits in the main campaign threads but this is useful space for things like character creation discussions, overall setting or system conversation, etc.

Do you want to impart any advice on picking features like goals or wises based on the game, or just let us come up with what we want?

For my wise I thought weather-wise might be fun, but not sure how often we'd be in situations needing a weather forecast. Also, the first crazy goal I could think of was 'keep the orb for myself', but again, might not be appropriate.

Sure, my general advice is that I anticipate a mix of dungeon-crawling and wilderness adventures, so something like weather-wise wouldn't go amiss. Also remember that every Winter phase you can choose to switch out one of your Wises. But for the first several adventures I anticipate Weather-wise not being a horrible choice.

Second, I'll ask for Goals first thing after setting up the adventure proper, in the Action thread--so you can leave it blank until you have the most info on what you're into and what will make sense scope-wise.

Considering how bad storms can be, weather-wise is not a bad choice.

Great, with that in mind, I believe I have my character (mostly). All I need to do is pick a specialisation, since Wyzard opted for taking a Cleric with Healer. My guess is Cartography is the most tactically sound choice for the Magic-User, so I'm leaning toward that, but I'll wait to hear what other people are taking.

Question about Circles: In the first question (Friend or no Friend), the option for not taking a Friend seems to mean that you take an Enemy instead, and end the whole Circles part. So am I correct in interpreting the rule as meaning that you can either have an Enemy, or a Friend + up to two of Parents/Mentor/Enemy?

Keehnelf: Should we post our characters here or PM them to you?

Yet unnamed Halfing Burglar reporting for duty!

Wyzard, Starbeard; pleasure to meet you. Hope we don't all die horribly together. Not, at least, before we have a bit of fun!

Sulldawga should also be reporting in before too long--I know he was already in the process of making a character up.

Welcome aboard!

If we have a cleric with the Healer skill and a Halfling with the Cook skill, then those are the really important ones to cover. After that, we can choose pretty much any Specialty we want, with no overlap obviously.

I am going to choose Survivalist as my Specialty.

I was thinking about having my character's Friend be the owner of the local Tavern. This ok?

Whoops! Salutations to you too Sulldawga. The thing about the fun and the dying obviously extends to you too. I'll have a skeleton of a character statted up by the end of the day, and a full blown dude by Sunday, per Keehnelf's request.

Sulldawga: As a perpetually thirsty halfling, I would greatly appreciate an in with the local booze-peddler.

PC's: What say you all to sharing starting inventory as well as specialty and such? Making sure we have a solid toolset available might not be a bad idea.

I've added the first descriptive post to the Action thread to help sketch out more of the contours of the adventure locale and situation. Feel free to use that or build upon it when developing your characters.

Oops, missed the question about delivering character sheets. Either way is fine--I'll be copying/pasting and then probably tweaking formatting to get them in the other sheet no matter where I grab them from.

Thanks guys! have a great weekend.

For equipment:

Since the only combat equipment I can use is a dagger, I might as well carry a 10' pole and tie a rope around my torso. That leaves me 4 more satchel slots (5 really, since I can put a small sack in my satchel). My guess is 1-2 rations would be good, which leaves me with 3-4 to fill with whatever adventuring equipment no one else is taking.

And if I haven't gotten to it yet, pleased to meet you all. Hopefully we'll rock this adventure, and if not, we should have a lot of fun failing miserably each step of the way!
