Elnaerel
"Someone too fond of the sea, that's for sure. But whatever or whoever it is, doesn't like too human or anything like that. No sea elf would live like this either, I reckon."
She keeps advancing as long as the group does with a look at floor, ceiling and walls of the cave corridor they're now in, in case she spots something the denizens of the place may have place to hinder the entrance of intruders.

Darklin
Could this be some kind of lizards home? Maybe Lizardmen? Maybe Saltwater Crocodiles? We better get ready for a fight. Feanol be ready.
He moves back to stand in front of her

Keg nods in agreement, his weapon and shield already at the ready.

Keyon
The deeper they travel, the more cautiously Keyon advances. He's certain anything lurking in the cavern has heard their approach by now and the elf has no wish to be surprised. Rapier in hand, partially for defense and partially for balance in case he stumbles on the slick stone, he ventures onward.

Not at all impressed by the cave and its content, she lets Darklin's comments cement her concerns and she rests her hand on one of her daggers, and thinks through the casting of her spell "Thanks Darklin, I don't like it either."

The Dark Cave
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Not far beyond the messy floor is another wider, wetter chamber. The floor in there has been eroded away so badly by time and the scouring tides that most of it is now only water. There is a single pedestal of rock in the very center of the chamber that still appears solid enough to walk across, but it is surrounded by sea water that slowly rises and falls with the motion of the waves and tide. When the water surrounding the island pedestal rises, it covers the entire surface area of the rough, rocky plateau by about 3 inches or so. When the water recedes again, it spills off the surface with a light, soothing, trickling sound. The water level in the chamber only rises and falls about 8 inches or so, and there is no distinct pattern to its movement.
There are two small natural holes in the ceiling that let daylight shine in, one on the ledge before the plateau, and one just beyond it. The sunlight shines off the water, causing the whole chamber to be lit up in an eerie, shimmering glow. Nothing can be seen down below the waters surface except the rocky, sandy seafloor about 10 feet below. The gaps between the ledges and the plateau are about 5 feet wide. The narrow passage continues beyond the watery room.
Actions?

Elnaerel 10/10 3/3

How high up is the ceiling and how small are the two holes?

The ceiling is rocky and uneven, but only about 8 feet high at its highest point.
The holes are small, uneven cracks that rough seas likely eroded through over time. TK probably wouldn’t fit through them, but his head might.

Keg
Looks at this with a bit of wonder. Then to the others.wish we had a ladder to get a look out those holes up top.
Makes me wonder what we would find. For now, let's take the rope in my pack and tie it about our waist. We go one at a time to that big rock and to the other side. We could all anchor each other in case there is suckion from the tide.

Elnaerel
Although she already inside what will be the answer to her question, the elf makes it anyway: "Does antibody have a spear or something with which we can prode the bottom of this chamber? I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to step in there before knowing if there's something or not."

The young elf peers into the water with a distasteful expression on his face. "Never thought I'd get tired of the sea," he remarks. "But here we are."

The Knife
The Knife squints at the holes up above. "It's a shame they've not a bit bigger. There might be something interesting up there. But I'm not going up there just to stick my head out. Who knows what might happen?"
He nods in agreement with Keyon. "I've had enough for a while as well. It's a shame though. From the layout of this cave, there's obviously a tunnel down there that goes under here and out to the sea. There might be something interesting down there".
"Mind you, I can't see an underwater sea cave being uninhabited. Probably something fairly viscious down there".

Feanol
"With all the heads up front I wonder if the practice is to behead the victim. Keep the head and throw the body down here. So the creature to be appeased can have their feast?"
"Maybe we should find a larger animal, kill it and throw it in to see what happens?"

Darklin gets down on his hands and knees and looks into the water. Trying to see anything on the bottom that may be of interest. Any bones laying down there?

The Dark Cave
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
With the holes in the ceiling a good two feet over his head, Keg wishes they had brought a ladder to reach them. He suggests they use his rope to tie everyone together before leaping to the center rock. Elnaerel suggests they probe the bottom before they try to across. Feanol suggests making a headless offering to appease whatever dwells below, but the group is fresh out of large animals, and TK has no intentions of volunteering again.
Darklin gets low and looks into the shimmering green water. The bottom appears sandy with a few black rock or coral formations scattered throughout, but he doesn’t see any bones or dangerous monsters. Looking at the cracked holes above a little closer, there appears to be a lot of seaweed and other dried vegetation stuck around the jagged edges hanging down into the gap from above.

The big man gets a disturbing thought. Do we know if this is high tide or low tide? If this is low tide, how much time do we have?
Looking at the holes above he quirks a brow and looks at Elnaerel. You know... you look plenty thin.
What do you think of getting on my shoulders and taking a peek up and outside?

Elnaerel "Good idea." When Keg's ready she will sit on his shoulders and take a look up there and through the wholes.Bluehorse wrote:Keg
