Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
I just posted the deity names, spheres, and holy symbols in the Game Resources thread here:
viewtopic.php?f=91&t=1783&p=168543#p168543
Those of you playing clerics or a paladin, please select a god for your character if you haven't already. You don't have to use the ones I posted. You could choose from a different existing pantheon or make up your own. If you choose a god not in the group I posted, please tell me what the god's holy symbol is.
Thanks!

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Scarlett will worship something along the lines of Pelor / Fharlanghan, gods of love, light and travel with a hint of blessing for the underdogs and those in need, " God helps those who helps themselves" a common gypsy proverb....
Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Sounds good. Give me a name and a holy symbol.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
as a fighter does it matter whom I call to in battle?

No. Deities are optional for anyone other than clerics and paladins.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Scarlett worships the (CG) female goddess Samar. She is the deity of those driven to the fringes of society, travellers, beggers and rogues. She is associated with luck, thieving, healing and travel. Those who worship her always feel they are pilgrims in this world, just passing through until they find entrance into the celestial heavens. "Roots are for trees, feet are made for walking" a Samaric proverb. Her holy books are few as most worshipers are illiterate. There is an oral history of Samar and many psalms sung which tell of her mighty and glorious deeds for mankind. A creed of proverbs dictate ways of devotion, evocative folk dances portray instances of divine intervention.
The holy symbol of Samar is a coiled winged-snake around a staff. The snake represents both the temptation of man to fall into sin and error and also the judgement of the gods against the unrepentant. The staff representing the drive of man (generic for all demi-humans) to explore and dominate the ground from which we came. Shields and pennants may be decorated with a two-headed serpents like a hydra or a single bodied snake with a head at both ends. Medusa are seen as the complete embodiment of evil, the corruption of a woman with serpent hair and will always be destroyed. Many coatyl are celestial servants of Samar. The holy Samaric symbol is usually a silver torc coiled like a snake, it may be plain silver or embellished with multi-faceted gemstones. Scarlett wears such a torc though hers is worn coiled from her right shoulder around her arm down to her right wrist where the head of the snake rests above her knuckles. Some say that during periods of prayer and devotion the coiled snake animates and moves around the arm as she receives her divine spell blessings though this cannot be verified.
Some say clerics of Samar are blessed with protection against snake venom and may charm and talk to snakes at will. Some clerics have serpentine 'familiars'. Interestingly some of the elder clerics of Samar undergo a 'renewing' when they are spiritually driven into barren places to shelter whilst their skin sheds and they are reborn as prophets of this new goddess.
anything else you'll have to ask Scarlett..nicely

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Agax the Dreamer isn't a priest but he strongly believes in the pandimensional Gamers of Urth who control our every action. (See Agax's character sheet.)
Like many worshippers, he attributes qualities to his gods that are really his own. So he would like to think they fall along the spectrum of Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral, even though they should be True Neutral in terms of their dealings with this world.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Smoke Warrior won't be joining us. I'm not sure if Computer +1 will be able to or not. I hope so. But with the smaller group, I'm going to bump levels slightly.
Castran and Bragar get 50,000 XP each for successfully surviving the castle.
New characters add 30,000 XP to current totals.
Thanks.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Castran is now 6th/6th level. Does he gain an extra spell for levelling as an illusionist?
You know the mini stat sheet that details the saving throws for the PCs along with what spells they have etc. It doesn't mention the dodge saving throw bonus for high dex. Do you add that Zhym in your games or is it something you don't use? Am just curious is all so I know whether to apply it should the time ever come. Cheers and tyvm for all the xp

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Good point about dexterity bonus. I'll add that to the cheat sheet.
Castran gained a level but not a new spell level, so he doesn't automatically learn any new spells.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Also, a note on the AC line in the character sheet. The second number ("rear") should be the AC without shield or dexterity bonuses, but not including the +4 bonus for attacking from the rear.
For example, a fighter with a -2 dexterity bonus wearing chain mail and using a shield would have an AC line 2/5/3.
Please double-check the saving throws and ACs in the summary post. That's what I refer to when resolving combats.

Re: OOC Discussion II: The Return
Can the gnome use a shield at all? Is it he reaction attacking adjustment or the defensive one for dodge saves I can never remember.
Bragar, I think it would be wise if we could secure an abandoned building perhaps that was more easily defended, and lay some glyphs of warding at the entrances along with some magic mouth stones to keep us safe through the night to come. What do you think? The more damage done to the undead, or wolves or whatever attacks us tonight, before we get into it the better for us yeah! If we can find some perhaps you could raise some skeletons to fight with us. That might be going against alignment though I guess, depends how Zhym plays animate dead.
Ps: can the gnome worship Garl Glittergold the gnomish head of the races pantheon, or would you prefer one of the ones listed. I don't mind if you would prefer one. The CG one for him if that is the case.
