"No, we didn't forget. Can you help us with the venue? There's lots of data on the Farm World, so you can find a good place to set up the wedding."
”I Would love to. Did I hear that you two have a favorite spot already? Assuming you don’t want to say your vows there, I’ll find you an ideal if venue. Perhaps near a waterfall…

He’ll run through the recordings and consult with ship-Roscoe (who has already reviewed much of the data) to find a scenic vista.

Can the air-raft fit through the portal? If so, he’ll load it with food, drink, table clothes for picnicking the after party, etc. otherwise, a grav sled that will be towed behind the G-bike.

"Roscoe found a terrific homesite for us. We can use it if it will work."

Perfect, I’ll get the location and start setting up table, chairs, catering, and picknicking.

"Thank you, I appreciate your help."

Jaelah turned to the princess. "I think we have enough information to arrest everyone involved in the duchess's scheme. Is there anything else we need to do today?"

You won't have any issue though it is a fair jaunt from the teleportal. A bit more than a thousand kilometers. A short hop on a grav bike (a bit more than an hour), but 4-5 hours in the air/raft. That might change your plans for getting people and things there.

Perhaps have it brought on autopilot to have gear for the honeymoon and the people on grav bikes? If you start it on its way, it might arrive just after the ceremony so you could have a reception on site.

"We have enough information to search her holdings. This will be the Omicron Division's opportunity to make up for their failures. We have done all we can. Tonight and tomorrow will be securing everything and arresting people. And, of course, your wedding night," she added with an impish smile.

"Do you wish to stay overnight at the wedding site?" Roscoe asked. "Everyone else could return to the ship and I could bring everything we need for a day to ourselves. Or longer, if you want to spend our honeymoon there. It won't be as comfortable as the ship, but we would have the world to ourselves for as long as you like."

I was just about to say something very similar: start the Air Raft laden with all the food, drink, and supplies. Anything needed for the Honeymoon. Send it out while everybody gets themselves ready and dressed. Great minds!

Metz will send over the link: "I made some upgrades to the air/raft and the grav bikes. The air/raft should be able to get us there in an hour at the new speeds. The bikes could get there significantly faster but would be less comfortable and carry less. The air/raft can reach subsonic speeds now. The grav bikes can go hypersonic. I'm using antimatter batteries to power them and Ancients energy screens to keep the wind and small bits of matter like bugs from affecting the riders. The air/raft now tops out at 1,200 kph. The grav bikes at 12,000 kph."

The princess immediately perks up. "I'm taking a grav bike!"

"No," Fredrick said firmly, "you are not. That is insane velocity."

"Must. Fly. Fast. Really, really fast!"

He gives Walt a hard look. "Remember when I warned you not to come between me and my duty? Back. Off."

She sighs. "Fine. For now. Walter will test it out for me. Won't you?" She meaningfully blinks her lashes at Walt.

"Sorry Frederick. I forget myself."

He winks at the Princess.

He'll take the improved G-Bike for wild fast spin...pushing the speed up as his comfort and skill allow. He'll slow it down and do some spins, fishtails, etc. Not pushing beyond his skill though.

If you reallocate some bandwidth in your wafer jack, you can have plenty of skill and give the grav bike a real test spin. 12,000 kph is achievable. You topped out at 12,391 kph, screaming across the land at speeds that make going too low a serious risk if you can't dodge things before you hit them.

The human average is 1.5 seconds to react and do something like change course or brake. Let's say you do it in half the time (.75 seconds). You travel almost 2.6 kilometers (1.6 miles) in that time. Very dangerous at low altitude because no one can react that fast. Even the built-in autopilot would have trouble (DM -8) at that speed and altitude. You've all been warned. ;)

I'll assume you stay at a reasonable altitude for the max speed test. The rest can be done at lower altitude. Your verdict? These things rock!

That’s a lot of bugs in your teeth.

1200kph is over 333 meters/second … a fighter jet between your knees.

Good thing for the energy screen. ;)

Also, you need to move that decimal point over. Your 12,391 kph is 3,441.9444 meters per second.

As the last interviewee leaves Garvin brings his hands together in an ethusiastic clap and states "Not only did that go blindin'ly well but also no one 'ad to waterboard an old person". It appears he's joking... probably. He grins at Jaelah "There's not even any time for Roscoe to 'ave 'is stag do!" then adds ruefully "For which we might all be grateful...".

Garvin apparently seems to be in the Frederick "humbug" camp. Catching the Princess' wink he fixes Walt with an admonishing gaze "Absolutely no killing the Crown Princess at 12,000kph". His eyes take on that mischievous glint as he adds sotto voce to Walt "An' mind that bike's all you "test drive" an' all! Those blokes in red don't miss... anyone stupid enough to get caught".

He makes himself useful assisting with wedding prep as directed by Aster.

I think I may have dropped one... :SAN:

Because I was curious, Walt and his bike would have generated around 1070 MJ of energy on impact. That's 256 lbs of TNT. Boom!
