Viscata moves to the bottom of the stairs, being a little crowded she draw a javelin and readies to throw only if the fighter breaks far enough away from her companions for a clear shot.

Round #13 Description

The evil fighter had spent the last round doing a fighting withdrawal up the stairs that lead out of the lair. He is doing the same thing this round.

Ankhar is on the stairs but ceases following the evil fighter to cast his spell (He is human). The spell takes 4 segments to cast which will give the evil fighter 4 segments of movement. Since the evil fighter is being careful he will be able to move 24' during that time.

Etruna charges past Ankhar and up the stairs. Her charge is halted suddenly when she slips on the muddy stairs (I rolled a penalized DEX check for running up the stairs which failed). She instinctively buries her sickle sword into the stairs to prevent the downward slide into Ankhar. (Sorry about the wasted 20)

Halmod and Viscata stand at the bottom of the stairs and see no possible shot with Ankhar and Etruna blocking the stairs up. (Justifies your misses so don't expend the ammunition.)

When Ankhar's spell goes off the evil fighter stops and fights off the magic assaulting him (He made his saving throw). Angrily he taunts Ankhar "I was trained to resist your spells." He spits and then continues his advance up the stairs and then disappears from sight.
(he made his DEX to get up the stairs)

Kraden still sits on his knees and recognition of his wound is dawning on his face. He clutches his abdomen.

Rondar and Nuonne come into the room #2 and see the current positions of everyone.

The fight is over.

Let's give Kraden that crappy HP roll I made last round. :)

I've got another, if needed and I know Ankhar has healing (I think) as well.

(OOC: Well played! Kraden's shock is wearing off and he is able to speak with difficulty. With assistance he may be able to walk slowly.)

Nuonnes healing magic ceases the bleeding, but Kraden still looks very unwell. With Nuonne's knowledge of his capabilities he thinks this wound is beyond his ability to mend.

Kraden grabs hold of Nuonne's arm and finds his speech has come back to him with the application of the cleric's healing magics. "Do not let him get away. If he makes it back to Orlane, Erasaunt and the others may suffer. Leave me here if you must!"

The ranger tries to get to his feet and stumbles, still feeling the entirety of the devastating wound dealt to him by the now-fleeing, evil armored fighter. He tries to crawl for the stair, begging his companions to pursue the human that almost dealt him his death.

"Missile weapons then..." Nuonne works his way slowly up the steps, taking out the bow and arrow as he moves to the top.

Depending on what he sees, he'll pop off a couple arrows, and hopefully not get surprised by evil-guy fighter at the top o' the steps...

[1d20] = 1 [1d6] = 6
OOC: Frickin' really! :(

[1d20] = 15 [1d6] = 4
OOC: That's a tad bit better...

Nuonne stands in the rain surrounded by the bodies of the slain swamp people, the dike, and the swamp beyond. The entrance to the muddy lair behind him. He looks about with fury, his bow at the ready. His quarry no where to be seen....

Kraden almost passes out from his efforts. He crawls over to lean against the wall of the room to avoid passing out. Tears flow down his cheeks as he realizes that he is now out of the fight and will be lucky to live from the devastating wound given him by the hand of the priest's bodyguard. When Nuonne returns with news that the fighter escaped, Kraden can feel his already pain-ridden heart sink even lower. Her gathers himself and looks up to his companions. "I have failed you friends...I beg you forgive me...I panicked when our first volley went awry...I thought the priest would kill us all with his foul evil magics...Twas folly for me to rush him but I knew not what else to do...you must leave me and carry on with the mission...Erasaunt, pilgrims, town must be saved...evil must be undone...take my weapons and gear...finish the mission...please, I beg you!"

The ranger almost passes out again with the effort taken to communicate. He coughs and gasps for air as the fire in his abdomen rages. He reaches up and yanks something off his cloak. "Nuonne..." He holds out his shaking bloody hand and places his ranger's pin in the cleric's hand. "Take this to Alan Clayborn when you return to town...he is the retired ranger I spoke to outside of tavern...maybe he will feel his duty again and help you...at least watch out for Erasaunt and pil...." Kraden again coughs and gasps for air as the effort to communicate becomes unbearable.

"Please Kraden my friend, calm down. Do not take all on your shoulders, you did not make it here by yourself, did you? We failed just as well."

Ankhar pauses for a brief moment, then continues with a smile "That does not mean all is lost. Though there are several people in the town that seem to be under control of evil we still have seen that there are plenty normal denizens as well. I doubt that fella will try to cause turmoil in the township, specially since he does not know there is anything happening there that diverges from their plans. In fact, I find it much likelier that, if he goes to town at all, it will be to ask for reinforcements so he can find us and finish us."

Looking at the faces of his companions he goes on "Thus, my suggestion is that we do him a favor and remain here. We may do more ill than good by returning now, and you are not in condition to walk for long distances. If we get some rest I may even pray for some godly favor and put you in a little better shape. If you gentlefolks agree with that we may search the area further and set up our defenses before getting some well-deserved rest."

A wail of deep anguish echoes from the south corridor. A deep male voice saying "No! No! No! ..... No!" there is some splashing of water and then a bright light from the pool room fills the southern passage. "..... No! ..... No! ..... No! ..... No!" The shadows of a kneeling man playing off the walls.

As the party looks closer they see a mourning swampman craddling the body of the slain priest, repeating his denial of the man's death.

"Dark work going on down here," Nuonne murmurs. He nods at the others and heads down, arrow nocked, to investigate.

At any aggressive move from swampy, two arrows will loose:

[1d20] = 11 [1d6] = 3

[1d20] = 7 [1d6] = 2

and likely miss.

Etruna holds back from approaching the mourning swampman considering they did not seem to respond well to her gender. Better to let one of men parley, she thinks.

Nuonne will flank outside of Ankhar, or anyone going in to the room, so he has a clear shot - but will stay his arrow unless needed.

The swamp man turns his grief filled face up to Ankhar. He stares at Ankhar for a few moments. Just above a whisper he says "You killed everyone, they are all dead. Everyone. The goddess will be angry and you will pay. All of you will pay for this." As he says these last words he looks towards the others in the room. He then continues mourning, indifferent to the party.

Aside from the drizzling rain all is quiet above. What kind of traps would you like to set?
