Round 3 (west)

Resolving the west side as all actions are in.
The swamp beasts finally get the jump on the group and two new troglodytes
(l6,l7) make every effort to enter the fray, but only the first of which is actually able to engage. It, too, is drawn by the protective aura of the paladin and skewers
Kendrick with its javelin
(-4); the pain of this latest blow sends the knight tumbling over backwards as he falls unconscious.
Aric is able to easily avoid the javelin thrust at him, but
O'rek's opponent manages to chomp down on the cleric with another serious bite attack
(-5).
Ewell, distracted at the sight of his fallen companion, swings wildly at his new opponent and misses.
Aric just misses in a retaliation attempt, but
O'rek thumps his opponent sending the last of the torched trogs into the afterlife.

I had Kendrick at 6 hp after the previous round. I'll go back and check this.

My train just arrived, but I list all your damage here, if it will help: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1385&p=62507#p61892

I haven't found anything that says different than that, so at some point I must have missed updating Ken's HP.
Oh well. Ken will nap through this combat.

I see "S" monsters. Are those spiders or just another company of trogs? I suppose we could see if they were by now...

All trogs. Just different letters to label the various groups how I have them organized.

Figured, but wanted to confirm. So, we took care of the "T"ough ones, and now have the "L"ightweights and the "S"ofties, I hope.

Feeling refreshed and with his trusty mace back in action, Kaltar allows himself a smile and another swing:
Mace Action To Hit [1d20] = 16 Dam [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2

Fimmion will remain on standby with torch duty....?
unless the group wants to run the risk of being blinded with the swamp beasts for a few rounds, I think this is it on my end really.

Round 3 (east)
Posted: Thu Dec 05, 2013 2:10 pm
by dmw71
The beasts act first, but are completely unsuccessful in their efforts.
Feeling refreshed,
Kaltar brings his mace crashing down on the held troglodyte, finally putting the creature out of its misery.
"There is no time to hold back, hit them with whatever you got!" Strom yells as he issues a
serious wound to the troglodyte to his sword hand
(s3), but the creature is able to remain upright.
Shannigans stabs with both blades again. His opponent is able to easily avoid the first strike, but the halfling thinks he may have drawn blood with the second, but realizes it may have just been from the creatures previous wound.
Epsilon attempts to jab the troglodyte between
Strom and
Kaltar with his staff, but the beast is able to maneuver out of harms way.

before I declare I need to know positioning. If I were to go over and cure ken would that put me on the front line? or is the front line engaged?

The DM could rule differently, of course. But, I would think that if a trog was to reach around Ewell to Kendrick (or his healer), it would either happen before you got there (if they won initiative) or after we attacked. I feel fairly confident that l6 shoud not be around after Ewell's handiwork this time. And, there shouldnt be room for another trog to squeeze by. That was the design of our line in the bottleneck.
That said, Fimmion or Epsilon could try to drag Kendrick and have his hand touch his shoulder to see if that would activate his "lay on hands", which would awaken him at the least. (if it worked)

Strom continues to fight and launches another attack at the nearest trog
[1d20+2] = 16+2 = 18
[2d4+3] = 5+3 = 8
