I think perhaps I was referring to a conversation you were not part of, sorry. The joke missed, as in-jokes tend to.

Now this could be interesting..."Terrorists" is such a fluid term...Is the colonel part of an Imperial Registered Mercenary Company? Imperial Rules of War apply? This could be well worth recording as if they really cock up they'll be selling their equipment on the cheap soon.

Re: OOC and MIA
The tank aiming-in on the ramp will be able to block the exit when it brews the first Guard vehicle to exit.
Can Jess kill it before the Guard sally please?
Probably too late to save the point defence, but we might as well take the second.
Oh yes, and where is that laser tracking to? If it's getting near the garage doors we need to go before it gets there.

I agree with the above, but can we yet assume this info has been passed on. I know we usually assume tactical info has been passed on... But.

Re: OOC and MIA
Yeah, Jess has been pacing the garage like a caged tiger waiting to get the good word.

Re: OOC and MIA
And Frank won't deploy without a full tactical picture, particularly when we know they have sophisticated operative who know what they're doing and are good at laying traps.
Re: OOC and MIA
I'll assume you sharing "occurrances" but obviously try to avoid too much "omniscience" with details.
As to "detail" the laser that Freya can see is tracking across from the building's left to its right.
The actual traverse of the barrel is clearly visible to Prerna (and also Freya of course)
This would pretty much put it right over the centrally positioned grav vehicle bays.
The choice is "launch and be damned" [120mm KEAP will inflict Major penetrations on your G carriers] or delay until it's visibly safe (as called by Mk 1 eyeball) from the roof.
NB Common Knowledge: There's no way a tank turret can traverse quickly enough to engage air targets once actually in flight.
Please slip the decision into the IC thread.
This must surely be The Bindoner's call!

Re: OOC and MIA
My thinking is that Jakob's team can get set up before Jess launches, giving us time to take potshots at the tanks. I'm not sure what the distance is, but maybe we can engage well. If it's 600 meters or less, then even the ACRs can reach and Jakob will have everyone on his team do suppressive fire or fire for effect, depending on if they have a shot.
He's not at the "shoot down the barrel of a tank" level yet.
Though actually, you wouldn't have to be staring straight down it. Even at an angle, if the projectile enters the bore then it still has energy and only one way to go.

Re: OOC and MIA
Well, if the damn things over the doors but still traversing we wait.
Though...
How fast do the doors open? The operator has to see the doors open, remove the laser, load, fire.

Re: OOC and MIA
The bay doors aren't "iris valve quick" they're more the "Igor let in the lightning!" sort of thing.
They have gravitas!
It all depends on the tank crew's ability Jess would surely wait ...
Secondary explosions and fuel fires in the garage bay might reach her buggy!
OK, I think I have enough to move us along IC!

Re: OOC and MIA
Your ACRs are good to 900m with HE and slug (there's a tactical find!) and the HE round doesn't drop Pen with range.
Oh, I love the wrinkles in Striker! The worthy and workmanlike ACR delivers time and again!

I will assume your covering fire takes place as soon as the bay doors open.
Re: OOC and MIA
What's the range, and are there benefits to slow aimed fire? I think we can get in place and begin the process before the doors fully open, which should give us time to dial in for trajectory and exact range.

Re: OOC and MIA
I thought they'd changed target. Two tanks, they took out the Point Defence, one is tracking across the Mansion, the other is walking ranging rounds up the ramp. You're fine, keep feeding us observations.. "Recon team is abandoning the roof. We have no cover and they are firing flechette rounds at us."
Which reminds me: They took out two point-defence systems.
1: We must expect an attack by the missiles they are designed to counter.
2: Are there any other point-defence nodes still operational?
Re: OOC and MIA
That would be the difference between "harrassing" and "suppressive" fire!

I am assuming the latter and a squad (including a support weapon which will "whang" off the outside) "plastering" a tank even if it doesn't penetrate will have a military effect!
Also tanks are easy to hit usually +4. Perhaps a too obvious mechanic in rules focussing on man to man "duelling" - but they're really big! In game terms you're back to 8+ to hit even at that range.
This moment perhaps allows us perspective on ammo expenditure. Here you have a whole squad blazing away (quite properly in my opinion) at a "landmark/terrain feature". To my knowledge of Basic Infantry tactics that's how it starts off!

Ah, if only you had some sort of knowledge of the defences...The Bindoner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 12:07 am 2: Are there any other point-defence nodes still operational?
As an observation on the plight of the Recon team direct engagement of their sangar with MBT main armament would likely only happen the once.
In fairness Prerna also has the advantage(?) of literally staring straight down the (120mm) barrel!

The veteran tanker's absolutely spot on here - well he would be!
He also identifies that moment when you really know you are dialling in a "Code Brown" - when the tanks bring their own armoured infantry with them!
Re: OOC and MIA
Oh, hell no! We're outta there. All it would take is some character with a VT-fused round, and we'll be the late recon team. Time to go and figure out a harder way to die than that.Tiglath wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 12:35 amAh, if only you had some sort of knowledge of the defences...The Bindoner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 12:07 am 2: Are there any other point-defence nodes still operational?

Re: OOC and MIA
Fortunately, those tanks VT rounds would explode so the parapet would provide excellent cover...They are flat-trajectory guns so the shell would be rising not falling at that range. Sadly, the parapet appears to be not too substantial against impacts by HE.
Mind you, I'm surprised they have managed to get the thing to fire at all (let alone with the right ammo) without killing themselves if they are locals. Oh - Maybe they aren't!
