The Mansion reverberates with the impact of a heavy calibre round. Those with some battlefield knowledge know that was the sound or armour holding rather than giving way but the guests streaming through from their bedrooms into the lounge wail in fear. The sentries maintain their posts ushering the diplomats to seats in the lounge as the sound of disturbed sleepers and others being chivvied out of their rooms carries from the VIP area.

Duran arrives nonchalantly in a stylish robe while Mr Solomon sports slippers, stripped pyjamas and his homburg. The twins arrive apparently wearing little more than mischievous smirks. Fortunately for the prevention of whiplash inducing double takes among the sentries they appear to have somehow found some additional clothing. Styx wears an oversize DPM jacket with the name tab “Dallas” whereas Lethe sports a bedsheet “toga”. They are nevertheless distracting to the soldiery and appear to have already been in the officer quarters.

The SuSAG delegation arrive in formation about their “principal”. Ms Vitt, in black coveralls, is armed with a suppressed SMG and sweeps the room with her gaze before moving them in. Mr Wint wears a silk dressing gown under ballistic torso armour while Mr Kidd has the same paramilitary armour over his tailored business suit and tie.

Polly looks slightly mussed up but still very attractive in a pale blue “clan” robe and wears her new tiger eye bracelet (the meal went well) while Sazanami looks like she wasn’t asleep.

Prerna finally appears, clad in her CES, and with her heavy gauss rifle in hand, but minus her helmet. She races up to the roof to rejoin her team. "Recon Team, report!" she barks as she enters the lift to the roof.

Unless summoned to Officer Country Jess preps the Technical. If we deploy two weapon platforms it's also two targets - fewer shots per vehicle :)

Other than tanks, no sign of any hostiles or suspicious groups. They are either hiding well or not there. My guess is hiding.

The Deputy Minister rather worriedly states he defers all military matters to the Colonel’s sound judgement.

Frank’s comm channel pings with a call from Guard HQ “Colonel Cross, Major McIlwraith, Guard Adjutant. Colonel Pohlmann’s compliments, the Guard will manoeuvre against these terrorists directly. We would be obliged if your troops could provide some supporting fire or at least make sure they have a good view! Perhaps it’s now our turn to demonstrate some action in our own specialist field?”

Freya & Prerna

Freya takes in the scene in the sangar and from the roof.

Prerna also now arrives and takes stock with her military eye. She sees that the entire left hand corner of the Mansion roof is pitted with spent flechettes the advanced gatling PD system placed there is inert with its sensor array shredded by shrapnel. Easy is wounded but active in the sangar binding a field dressing to her bloodied face while Baker has crawled forward to look along the face of the Mansion.

The #4 tank now fires again. This time the round detonates on the emplaced gatling gun. With a yelp Baker regains the sangar and reports “That point defence system’s FUBAR!”

With her PRIS Freya again sees the strange sight of the visible laser beam inside the #4 tank's gun barrel tracking across the front face of the Mansion about a metre below them. She also watches the equally peculiar sight of the #3 tank "walking" bursts of tracer towards the empty lip of the ramp from the Mansion’s basement with its coax autocannon.

The pair can now also make out what must be a buggy backed right up against the hull of each tank on the Town side.

"Good Luck Major, we will provide what supporting fire we can. From my officers reports the enemy have shown some sophistication in their tactics, and they have had time to prepare for your arrival, these aren't just upset locals"

Frank passes on the Major's intentions over the officers channel "I'm not surprised. We need to be ready for the worst. Lieutenant, Sargent-Major, make sure your squads are ready in case they need our support. Major, use your own discretion on supporting fire. I'm always open to suggestions"

On receiving the report:

Colonel Cross, Sir, if there is no tank currently targeting my bay doors I think I should launch now and engage the armour, it may be in place to engage Guard's as they exit. Do I have permission?

Another idea...if they are shining a laser up the barrel, the breach must be open...After the next shot, will try to aim carefully and slip a round back down the barrel.

Right lads, we're go. 'Arry like I told yer, fast risin' curve leavin' the bay, straight down like a brick when we're clear an' then fly like a butterfly with it's arse on fire. Charlie, Kingy, eyes peeled fer snipers, missile teams an' MG's. Spot anythin', suppress with HE on auto an' report. Mike, same as, snipers, missiles an' MG's, full auto.

Sarn't Caxton, if we survive be ready to follow us.

As soon as the TAC missile system can see one of the tanks that are active ( she has seen the downloaded data and planned her shot ) Jess engages.

Careful what you wish for! That would literally involve staring down the barrel of an 120mm high velocity smoothbore tank cannon! :P

There's that scene in Saving Private Ryan - it doesn't end well for the sniper!

True - but if they are aiming a laser then the barrel is empty and the breach is open...As soon as the laser goes out they are putting around in...time to go...but lets hope it isn't necessary to try!

"Well, that got fun pretty fast," Jakob said. "Sergeant Dawson, have Nuts set up just to the side of the hanger doors. Soon as those doors open for the craft, lay down suppressive fire with the PGMP. If they aren't totally buttoned up it'll do something. If nothing else it'll slow them down. We'll let the fast runners out first, then the Guard can do their thing. We'll follow up and look for snipers and traps. We're the rear guard and covering the retreat, if there needs to be one. Keep that in mind."
