Chapter 3: Taverns and New Adventures

Elanriel

Elanriel shuffles awkwardly at the back, not sure whether she really warrants an introduction. After all, she's kind of a hanger-on rather than a real hero like the others. But, it feels more and more uncomfortable as each of her travelling companions says who they are and fewer and fewer of them are left.

"Elanriel," she eventually blurts out. "Er... I'm with Delthenora."

Her cheeks redden slightly as she feels foolish and her voice trails off. Ugh, what an idiot! she thinks, wishing the ground would swallow her up.

Delsenora

Del pats Elanriel on the shoulder, then winks at her. "Speak up, you're an important part of the group just like anyone else here. You deserve to be here as much as anyone

and don't let anyone else tell you different, understood?"

[Captain Kinkajou]

Elanriel

Elanriel gives a slight smile of acknowledgement at Del's quiet encouragement. She still feels awkward and foolish, and is not convinced she has proven herself sufficiently to truly be one of them, but it pleases her that her best friend thinks she has. With Del at least, she feels she belongs.

And, in truth, most of the others had been accepting of her and shown her kindness. She still found the gruff Dwarf, Egon, and business-like Xlore a little intimidating but they had never had a harsh word to say to her and had always treated her fairly. And, Urtesi had even noticed she was still carrying a wound and healed her. A gesture she would not soon forget.

Xlore- I am Xlore. Cale is it sorry for the confusion. Did you not serve the previous master here. I am just inquiring so that we have a better understanding.

The Master and a Meal

Cale "Again please save your questions for the master." he leaves to fetch the master and you only wait a short time before he returns with the master. The man that is with Cale is a young man the butler announces to you all "Lord Kaerin Penhaligon." then he leaves though you notice the butler looks disdainfully on those of you wearing armor and anyone wearing leather he eyes with considerable suspicion as he departs. The master looks to be in his mid twenties as far as age goes with humans. He stands a little over six feet tall, strongly built has the looks of a warrior. He has brown hair, worn over the collar, and dark brown eyes. You notice the young man is missing his right arm.

Kaerin looks the group over and asks "So I have been given your names, I understand you were seeking Kavorquian, unfortunately my late uncle passed weeks ago. But whatever brought you here must have been important so please what is your business? And won't you join me for dinner and we can talk." he ushers everyone to stand and follow him to the dinning room. He leads the group to his dining hall, a spacious and tastefully decorated room.

Egon

"We were sent by the priest of Stallanford, Alaric. He was captured by Orcs and during his imprisonment he discovered some information he has asked us to follow up on with your uncle."

Therick, hands Lord Kaerin Penhaligon, the letter, "Here is the letter, Alaric found it on a dead orc, he was asked to revive, while he was captured."

Urtesi makes a shallow formal bow, as he is introduced to Kaerin. After all, the guy is supposed to be a human noble. Once they are asked to take a seat, he will wait for an appropriate signal from the host before starting to eat. For now, he will listen to the conversation, but does not join in yet.

Delsenora

The Dark Elf bows as well, after Urtesi, and takes a seat near Elanriel. she will wait for a sign that they can eat as well.

In the meantime, she listens to the conversation, and looks around the room.

Elanriel

Elanriel sits next to Delsenora. Innocently she licks her lips and is about to start tucking in. Del gives her a nudge and Elanriel stops. Looking around, she can see that Del and Urtesi are waiting before starting, so she follows their lead. Thanks sister, she thinks, grateful not to have inadvertently done anything to offend their host.

After handing off the letter to Lord Kaerin Penhaligon, Therick finds himself a seat to sit at the table and sits down.

Kaerin takes the letter and reads it afterwards he looks alarmed and concerned. "I don't quite know what this means but it is very alarming and concerning. However it is good that there is a cleric coming to visit me soon I'll show him the letter and ask his advice on this matter." he says then pauses to ask "Now where was it you said you got the note? A priest in Stallanford?"

Xlore- Takes a seat as the others do, and follows the lead of as they wait for their host to start eating.

Therick says, "From the very priest who found the letter, high priest Alaric. There was a rumor, back in Stallanford, that Kavorquian, was in danger when a messenger sent to meet him vanished."

Trist

Trist takes a seat but does not eat or drink as she listens in as her companions discuss the letter with the new lord of the manor. She scans the room and the lord.

She makes a heraldry check in case there might be something that she might spot that isn't quite right.

Weston takes a seat with the others.

He stays quiet while the others ask questions. He will eat and drink when the meal starts.

ooc: He has the cooking skill. Is the meal good, does anything taste odd or unusual?

Therick says to Lord Kaerin Penhaligon, "A priest you say? I would certainly like to met him or her, to see if any assistance in the matter could be provided. Is there anyone else in Penhaligon, we could speak to in the meantime, Lord Kaerin?"

"Nothing unusual has happened lately? It may not seem related at first but you never know."

Therick says, "From the very priest who found the letter, high priest Alaric. There was a rumor, back in Stallanford, that Kavorquian, was in danger when a messenger sent to meet him vanished."

Kaerin nods his head "Ah yes the high priest in Stallanford. Heard about how he was rescued by some upstart adventurers. If he found it then my guess is that the orcs or some other evil you encountered killed the messenger and this is where his message managed to find its way. So I take it you are the ones that saved him that pleases me greatly. I thank you for the great service you did for Stallanford and Aralic."

Therick says to Lord Kaerin Penhaligon, "A priest you say? I would certainly like to met him or her, to see if any assistance in the matter could be provided. Is there anyone else in Penhaligon, we could speak to in the meantime, Lord Kaerin?"

Kaerin replies back "Why yes I and my late uncle's staff are not the only folk in Penhaligon. As it happens I have a little proposition for some adventure for you myself if you are interested."

Egon

"Nothing unusual has happened lately? It may not seem related at first but you never know."

Kaerin replies "Unusual well if you count my losing my arm to a slicer beetle a week ago."

Weston takes a seat with the others.

He stays quiet while the others ask questions. He will eat and drink when the meal starts.

The food is most excellent it is better than the food you had in Stallenford. Nothing tastes wrong of off about it.

Trist

Trist takes a seat but does not eat or drink as she listens in as her companions discuss the letter with the new lord of the manor. She scans the room and the lord.

She makes a heraldry check in case there might be something that she might spot that isn't quite right.

Looking around you can tell the place is very well decorated but most likely by the former master of the home.

"I am sorry to hear that. How did a slicer beetle come to attack you? We might be interested in some work, it depends on what it is I suppose."
