Rex, I took the liberty of Moan attacking the rider atop the wagon; based on your post that Moan was attacking the rider.
The wyvern eating the horse does not have a rider.
Hope that's okay. If not, I'll edit and adjust accordingly.

Just wanted to check that Barin didn't get his bless spell off so that could be his action this round?

Yes! Thanks for reminding me. That would have been his action near the end of last round. So, he gets an action for what is technically Round 2.

All good. Wanted to go for the rider, just messed up which one that was I guess.hedgeknight wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:56 pm Rex, I took the liberty of Moan attacking the rider atop the wagon; based on your post that Moan was attacking the rider.

And of course Raz also cast Bless which was basically pointless but there is not much else he can do unless things go melee vs ranged. Though defying odds i could always make a improvised ranged weapon by throwing a morning star or a hammer. Though that reminds me i never converted the weapons from 1e.
Renamed hammer to Warhammer everything else matched for speed and dmg types on both weapons.

Bless is cool - it means +1 to attack right?
That turns my to-hit roll of 6 into a 7

Initiative Question:
Do you prefer to roll initiative per encounter/melee or per round?

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Per round!
Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Whatever is easiest for you, the DM.
That said, if I had to choose my preference, I’d probably prefer to roll every round (per encounter feels too 5e for my liking).

My preference would be per round also, and maybe group initiative to speed things up?
Are we using weapon speed factor and such?

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Per round. Group or individual doesn't mater to me as it is easy to sort out in pbp (group for me in ftf).
Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Does matter to me.
Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!

No, the wyvern with a rider dove at him and tried to snatch him, but missed.
And in 2nd Edition, roll a d10 for Initiative.

Map added to my last group post; please adjust your actions if needed. My apologies for dropping the ball on the map.

Re: OOC 2 - Chat It Up!
Okay, hear me out.
I just realized, in 2nd edition, the higher the initiative roll, the better.
1E rules go with a d6 and a roll of a "1" being optimal.
2E rules go with a d10 and a roll of "10" (or higher) being optimal.
For this current combat, since I've fucked it up, we'll continue with the lowest roll going first in that order.
After this combat, it's going to be highest roll goes first, then so on down to a "1".
Now that I've had some time to reflect back (about 25 years or more), I recall our DM (and later myself) adding Dexterity reaction bonuses to the Initiative roll, as well as Weapon Speed. That made for some interesting rolling. Once I wrote it all down on my sheet, it was easy to remember. On a PbP game, it may not be so simple.
Thoughts?
