There are records of the two heading down after the Overland Express first arrived. They were down there five days and returned shortly before the ship was scheduled to depart. Garvin gives William a good natured grin whilst replying "Oi, she's not my "girlfriend" she's our boss..." If she wanted to be an arse she could easily 'ave got warrants of search an' seizure for the Lost an' Found an' turned us all inside out. She could then 'ave then binned us up forever, tidied up an' got 'er ship back or otherwise 'ave 'ad enough on all of us to blackmail us into doin' whatever she wanted. She didn't. She told me she wouldn't even ask about all the gear she more than strongly suspects we've nicked. I'll freely admit I more than like 'er but I think we're all mutually benefittin' 'ere".
While she might be that powerful, she never claimed that SHE arrested or tried him. In fact, he ran afoul of Imperial Intelligence and the Count in Glisten sentenced him. She wasn't involved at all, other than being read in. Jaelah laughs softly. "I'm just wondering if she knows what she's gotten herself into." She raises her hand before he can comment. "I trust your judgement in this, Garvin. I know that you're a lot of things, but you're no fool. You know full well what you have signed up for, and so does she." She looks down for a moment and takes a breath. "I have a confession of my own. I would like to approach Roscoe. He wants to know more about being a human, and I see a lot in him as a man."
I'm sure someone with a stick up their butt might disagree, but once again, it falls between the defined categories.
