Podo

Watching the others behind him wondering what in the hell lays beneath the sands, Podo feels a mild sensation of energy pulse through the ground as Silvestri advances. (trying to be thematic Norjax unless you have something else in mind)

"Watch out!"

Kurot stays back. Whatever is hitting people with electrical shocks, the android wants nothing to do with it.

Urlando
Wondering if the source of the shock might be something living unseen beneath the sands, Urlando stands still and sniffs the air.

Always welcome!

Podo burns 3 Luck to add 6 to Silvestri's Ref sv

OOC: Silvestri makes his save thanks to Podo. No damage taken.

Podo and Anton yell warnings to the others. Podo feels s slight tingle through his padded feet.

Denslow stands near the formation.

Silvestri fights the shock of the electrical blast and moves away from Urlando.

Urlando remains in place, inhaling the air to try and detect any creatures beneath the sand. He does not detect any scents but hears a soft RING from inside the formation that slowly subsides.

Kurot and Max halt their advance.

Saiph remains at a distance; safe!

Silvestri back-pedals

"Wow, that was close! It seems our plantient friends are so far unaffected. I think us animal types should keep back. I'm not sure if Kurot would be affected as he's not flesh like the rest of us."

"I'd prefer not to test that experimentally," replies Kurot. "My electronics might make me even more susceptible to damage from...whatever is going on there. At any rate, I'm not curious enough to risk my circuits to find out."

Urlando
The ratman nods in thanks to Silvestri for risking a shock on his account.
"Yeah, I'm gonna get out of here," he says through one head.
Watching with both sets of eyes for signs movement in the sand, and listening with both sets of ears, he carefully steps back towards the other mammals.

Podo

Taking a final glance at the scavengers above, Podo advances to the structure it self and cautiously pokes his head inside to see what lays beyond the darkness.

Anton backs up as well. Trying as best as possible to take the same path he approached on.

Max says, I think the tree was right. Plants and robots: fine. Meat people: not fine.

I change my vote: let's make like a Denslow and leave.

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 352D/81 (Late Afternoon)

The consensus to withdraw from the formation is initiated by all except Podo. The fungal giant hesitates and then advances to the structure, sticking his head through a sufficiently sized opening.

Once his senses have adjusted to the dark interior, Podo confirms the structure is hollow. He peers down into a dark pit where three blue lights flash at some unknown distance in the deep.

What did you see, Podo? asks Denslow as he crosses into the carnage zone to join the fun guy. Maybe we can disable whatever is hurting our meaty friends.

He digs in his pouch for a glow stick to shed light on the subject.

Podo

" Look there, those 3 blue lights in the ground. They could signify the mechanisms for turning these blasts of light off and on but they could also be lure lights from some savage beast. In the depths of the underground there are many creatures that you don't want to meet that use phosphorescence to lure prey to them. If we go inside and get into trouble the others will have a difficult time getting to us. Perhaps we should seek shelter elsewhere."

Podo withdraws his head after giving the lights one more curious look (underground knowledge check to determine if I have ever seen anything similar to this?)

Waiting to provide backup to Denslow should he want to explore further, if not I will return to the group eyeing those BABs (big ass birds) the whole way.

Curiosity overcomes Denslow as he sees Podo look inside the formation and exclaim his excitement. The ‘ent moves back and joins his co-plantient comrade.

Podo ponders the nature of the lights. (GM skill roll) He’s almost certain they are not naturally produced and their uniformity hints at an artificial origin.

Denslow forces his branched and leafy head through the largest hole and, using his glowstick (Usage roll 4), tries to determine the depth of the lights. The glowstick illuminates the interior of the formation revealing a smooth, irregular, and reflective black surface. The void drops into the ground beyond the 30ft perimeter of the light.

The three blue lights are beyond the lit volume where there is nothing to offer a reference of distance.

Denslow rustles his branches. So much for it being easy to turn off that field or whatever is affecting the meat-people. I could drop an explosive fruit down there… Think I should, Podo?

Podo

Unsure of the consequences of such an action or if help would be able to arrive in time, Podo's instincts for agreeing with everything to get him out of trouble kick in.

"Yes?" *clears throat* "Yes! That might certainly tell us what is under there."

Denslow drops an apple down…

Denslow "Gala" explosive apple mutation check [1d20+1]=17+1=18

Hmm.. that roll might get another + or so given current levels…

It should be 1d20+4, so add 3 more = 21. See results in link.
