Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Using the silk ropes within his inventory, Procyon quickly begins to bind his own arms and legs with the half-spears. He tied four half spears on each arm and leg, all half spear pointing outward beyond his arms. Now, he can flail around and deal damage accordingly to the enemies he comes in contact with.
Wonder how hit values will be calculated with this method...

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
NeoPlasmaVice, It appears that would fall under 'Attacks with 2 Weapons' (P. 70 DMG):
primary hand weapon is at a -2 'To Hit'
secondary hand weapon is at a -4 'To Hit'
You have a Dexterity of 15. This would get a bit better IF your Dexterity is 16 & above; at 16 it would be -1 / - 3 & so on...
The damage for a half spear is; 1D6-1
Now with 4 half-spears tied to your arms, you could make four 'To Hit' rolls at a -2 & four 'To Hit' rolls at a -4.
Each Hit would deal the 1D6-1 damage.
You are proficient in 4 weapons & currently are using 2 types; Javelin & Spear, so there is no non-proficiency penalty which would be a -2.
Note that if you wish to use your thieving abilities the half-spears would have to be untied from your arms.
Putting them on will also take time & need assistance.
There would also be the hassle of the spears staying in place after they make strikes, you may need to constantly re-adjust them!
This said, during a melee combat, you would only be able to strike once per combat with the 8 spears tied to your arms.

The numbers! They overwhelm us!
Eh, I'll roll with this and see how it goes.

Tuireann:
Tuireann pull Arn aside in a low voice "Arn I'm concerned about continuing. I don't think it's necessary. We are surely heading back toward the keep. The Goblin's in the keep must be holding Idhrenwen. We should stop our advance and parley for Idhrenwen release. They were willing to talk last time. All this blood shed is unnecessary."

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Arn the Congealer stops his casual examination of the fireplace. Using one arm to leaning himself against the mantle, he broods on Tuireann's words for a moment, considering the possibilities.
He turns to the others, 'Friends, I think there may be some wisdom in the words of our monk here. There is a real possibility that we will meet many more kobolds before we reach the end of this lair, and our healers can only sustain us for so long. The creatures of this region seem to fear the dragon greatly, so much that the goblins of the keep were more than willing to parley and let us get on with our business.'
He shrugs, pointing to the corpses littering the room. 'It appears for the moment we have the upper hand. Perhaps we should press this advantage to negotiate for Idhrenwen's safe return, if she indeed is here? The longer we spend exploring this lair, the less time we have to find the egg, after all, and it might be quicker simply to demand her release.'

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
"You folks make a good point", says the Doctor. "Let's proceed with the dog guidance. Once we have rescued Idhrenwen then we can better decide how to proceed. I'd be cautious of traps as we move ahead though. If we are confronted with a large group of kobolds I will try and put some of them to sleep."
OOC - In case I am absent in future encounters The Doctor will use his spell to put a sizable enemy force to sleep.

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Elusev remains by the door with the cooshee, "Our main reason here is to find more information so that we can proceed and find the dragons egg. Let us follow the Cooshee's guidance, they are attuned to elves and is most likely in service to the elf we are searching for. Let us move on with the animals guidance, we have the advantage of skill for now."

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Tuireann:
"But violence is unnecessary. The goblins have already showed us that they can be reasoned with and they are no threat to us. They claim not to have the egg and we don't have any reason not to believe that. Our foray further without parlay will only cost us precious time and resources. Idhrenwen, if held, can be freed through an open dialogue. Morrigan teaches us that battle is noble when the foe is matched in skill. What you call advantage of skill I call a slaughter and disgraceful. If Morrigan has her eyes on us she would surely be displeased and strike us down. I held my tongue as you murdered the innocent families in the ruins, I will not hold it any longer."

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Elusev turns back, his glare piercing, "Do not think to lecture me on the price of violence, nor attach me to that incident. I was one of two that openly spoke out against the harm done to those children and the only one that actively stopped it at the time. What that man did after we had left was disgraceful but I was in no way a part of it. The Goblins told us they did not have the elf in captivity just as they told us they had no egg. Has it not occurred to you that these hallways may not be owned by them? We have met only Kobolds, aggressive ones at that. So attempt to parley with them if you'd like, perhaps we may find some that do not attack us on sight. But until then speak only on matters you know something of."
But yeah... I think you might have Elusev confused for one of the other characters...

Cayley
Cayley sighs, "While I have nothing against a parley, I do recall that no one understood the tongue they were talking in. It would be hard to reach an agreement if we cannot communicate with them."

Dungeon Master:
As the party is going about doing their things in the Bunk Room & then helping Procyon with his unusual get-up of half-spears,
Elusev had decided to let the Cooshee go beyond the door, with him following the Cooshee.
He sees no more immediate threats as the dog sniffs it's way to the first door on the southern wall of the hallway, & let's out some barks.
Elusev is startled by the sounds of a female shouting, from within, saying the Cooshee's name, then saying something more all in Elven.

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Jenks will move up to the room where all the combat occurred if he hadn't done so already.
"That sounds like that could be our woman. Shall we go and rescue her?"

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Elusev calls to any members of the group that followed him, "The Kobolds are sacrificing the egg! Free the elf and then follow me!" Elusev will then rush down the hallway with the Cooshee, heading for the 3 door down on the left side of the hallway. He hopes to either stop the rite or delay it long enough for his companions to come aid him.
Upon reach the door he will quickly check the frame and hinges, if the door seems thin enough and swings inward then Elusev will attempt to kick it open as a surprise move, knocking an arrow afterwards and firing it at any enemies he sees, preferably the kobold leader himself.
Strength Test(16): [1d20] = 6
- Or -
Minor Test(1-3): [1d6] = 6 yikes
If the door seems thick and sturdy or swings outwards then he will attempt to open the door normally, walking with it so that the door is always providing him cover for any projectiles. Then he will knock an arrow and fire it at any enemies he sees, preferably the kobold leader himself.
Attack roll for either scenario
Long Bow(Specialized), To Hit:[1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23, Damage: S/M[1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3, L[1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
I take it that Procyon will by-pass his new weapons get-up idea & dive right along with Elusev then, considering what was just heard & then Smoke barking then shifting gears himself, to go down the hallway to the new door ???

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Arn, startled into action by Elusev's sudden outburst, rushes over with Procyon and helps Elusev pummel down the door.
If any door/strength tests are needed for Arn:
STR 17: [1d20] = 9; Minor Tests (1-3 on D6): [1d6] = 1

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
Without bothering to check if the door was locked or trapped, Arn tries to smash his way in rolling a 1 on a 1D6 & succeeded !
This scares the shit out of a dirtied up girl in a cell, as she let out a startled scream as the door banged opened.
She regains her composer & shouts,
" You damn big oaf, i'm ok, go find that dragon egg ! "

Jenks walks up to the door
"Don't worry princess, we're on the case. Consider the egg saved."
Jenks adjust his armour them moves on with the fighters, trying to look cool.
