One of the Gorilla rifleman lowers his rifle and issues a similiar command to the rest, his attention then turned to the professor. He speaks telepathically the following message. "Your race of man has shown thus far no inclination towards peaceful accord with my kin, nor have they shown the necessary strength to do so. It would appear, however, Professor Percival Perryton, that you would be the first to know of our proper methods of cultural exchange. Show us then, your strength of will and body, the apparent sharpness of the mind. Show us, that you are worthy of our trust." A similiar mental exchange is given to Maximillian, but it less respectful due to the fact that he did introduce himself nor did he state any of his intentions, he let someone else do it for him.

And with that, the riflemen lower their weapons and stand aside, letting two mechanized gorilla combatants come forward. Once they finish reaching a respectful distance between the visitors and themselve, they stand on their hind legs and wave their arms in a fan like motion, beating their chests only once. They then stand and wait.

The Professor, seeing that the gorilla is waiting for him to engage first, and wanting to get this over with quickly, shuffles forward while maintaining his stiff boxing pose. He makes a cautious first attempt at a jab at the gorilla, trying to gauge its strength as much as anything.

"Tally ho, then."

Punch: [1d100] = 29
Brawn: 50 (plus whatever help the Fisticuffs skill might lend)

I think this is a minor success, yes?

Maximillian:

Max looks to destract first with his generation & control of air then perform wrestling moves to incapacitate first.
Max would rather try to do that first then look to throw punches, use a weapon etc.

Pulpatoon, that looks like a fumble to me, the punch will not go through. Your melee score of 10 would have needed at least a percentile roll of 45 to make it a minor success. It is in situations like these where you can use fortune points to temporarily increase your rank value level to better increase your chances of landing that minor success. PyroArrow, I will need for you to roll a 1d100. You will then take the result and compare it to the master table picture on the percentile tables thread. Using your melee of 40, you will look across the row that number is on, horizontally and try to find your 1d100 result. Depending on the color range it lands on, it will be either a fumble, a minor sucess, solid success, or major success. I can help you with this if you get confused along the way.

Indeed, by one point too, what a bummer! But because you are using your aerial powers to distract before attacking, this will give you a +1 Row Step increase for this round, bringing your melee rank value up to 50 for this round. This will allow your attack to become a minor success.

If no one would like to use any fortune points to affect any of the two rolls made, I will provide an update either tonight or tomorrow.

Your Fortune Points will remained untouched until you either use them to affect a dice roll, or when you gain more after completing a mission. You guys are currently on your first mission. To affect a dice roll, you will need to use at least 25 points to bump a rank value up/down to the next color range, affecting your chances of success. Note that other players can chip in as well, using some of their fortune to help another player out, but more likely than not, a player will just take the fumble and save their points for a game changing action. Once Fortune Points are used, they are gone, like a consumable item, and can only be restocked by completing missions and stuff like that. Still, the option is open to you guys, using fortune points, and I wanted to say so now so that you guys are aware of it.

If you check the percentile table thread, there is more information and a few examples on the use of Fortune Points.

Pyro, because of the row step bonus that you obtained, your fumble turned into a minor success. Row Step Bonuses and Penalties are also explained under the Percentile Table thread.

So my roll was a fumble because I should have been comparing it to Melee instead of Brawn, right?

I'll forgo spending any fortune, just yet.

Right.

The professor and Max start their attacks on the cybernetically augmented gorillas. Professor Perryton, wanting to test the resiliency of the gorillas, peforms a weak punch. Apparently, the gorilla's exteriors are tough, for the boxer's punch had no effect. The gorilla right in front of the professor, lifts him up in the air with both arms and holds him tightly, preparing for a throw. Maximillian, however, fairs much more better as he uses a diversionary air current to distract the gorilla for a moment as he closes in with a hit, dealing 50 points of damage to the gorilla. It stumbles back, looking a bit bewildered, failing to grapple Max as well and lift him up. Some of the telepathic moon gorillas from the sidelines start to exchange looks with each other.

End of Round One.
Battle Results: The professor and Max are able to go first, the honorable gorillas following tradition for such things. Perryton take on a boxing stance and moves in for a light punch, it has not effect on the gorilla. He is then lifted up into their and is about to be thrown by his opponent!
Maximillian successfully lands his hit though, using his air control abilities to distract the gorilla. His punch and diversionary tactic catches the interest of some of the gorillas and they exchange glances. Go ahead and roll for initiative now, as well as any rolls you might need for your desired actions. Not sure what to roll? Just ask, I can help out.

The Professor considers, briefly, summoning his flock of spiritual perytons, but is unsure how the gorillas would react to this display, and so decides he should break free of his sparring partners grip.

Initiative: [1d100] = 26

Unfortunately, it appears he spent so much time dithering over his course of action that he lost the opportunity to do much of anything. He instead braces himself to land well from the toss that is coming.

Coordination? [1d100] = 70

You only need to roll 1d100 for your action. What you can do though is edit your macro so that it includes your rank value that is being used, so long as you are not adding it to your score. (Example: [1d100] Melee of 40. Using this macro, you would have gotten [1d100] = 78 Melee of 40.) This tells me what you rolled for to hit, as well as the rank value that you are checking on the master table. A 78 on the Master Table is a solid success with a melee of 40. Though.... creating a wall of air to repel an attack doesn't really fall under the melee category. I'd use your air control Rank Value for something like that, the score would still be 40 due to the air generation/control synergy bonus.

While being held by an opponet, Pulpatoon, your super can choose to roll for slipping, breaking free from the opponent's hold using your Brawn score. Here is some information from the everything else 4c thread for review if needed.
Wrestling

Grabbing, choking, holding, and similar attacks are all covered under wrestling. Roll d% on the Master Table using your Brawn Rank Value and compare the result to the following tables:

Seizing:
Use this when you want to grab something out of an opponent's grasp.

Black = Miss. You grab at air.
Red = Miss. Not quite.
Blue = Snatch. You've grabbed the target of your seize attempt.
Yellow = Shatter. You've grabbed the item but broke it.

Slipping:
Use this when your being held by an opponent.

Black = Fail. You're still held.
Red = Fail. Just for a second..., but no
Blue = Elude. You've escaped.
Yellow = Turnabout. You've not only escaped but can also reverse the hold.

Struggling:
Use this when you want to grab an opponent and restrain the character.

Black = Fail. Not even close.
Red = Fail. Just out of reach.
Blue = Hold. You've successfully grappled your opponent.
Yellow = Hold. You've successfully grappled your opponent.

Dodging:
Roll d% on the Master Table using your Coordination Rank Value and compare the result to the following table.

Black = Fail. Not quick enough.
Red = 3 Row Step. Anyone attacking you this turn suffers a -3 Row Step penalty to the appropriate trait.
Blue = 6 Row Steps. Anyone attacking you this turn suffers a -6 Row Step penalty to the appropriate trait.
Yellow = 9 Row Steps. Anyone attacking you this turn suffers a -9 Row Step penalty to the appropriate trait.
If any one you guys would like to change your actions for this round, in light of this information reminder, I will allow this.

The professor, assuming that he is about to be thrown, dislocates some of his joints to slip free of the gorilla's hold, and then pops them back in place afterwards. He shivers while he does this, but he is trained in such escape methods and it doesn't faze the professor as much; however, the professor is unable to dodge the kick that follows shortly after he falls to the ground, losing 30 points of damage. Maximillian, on the other side of the makeshift arena, is unable to act quickly either. The gorilla he just got done staggering charges him at full force and successfully makes contact with the slim frame, dealing 30 points of damage as well! Max is thrown back some distance and lands on his back, but afterwards he makes a motion with this arm. The gorillas do not know what he is doing, but they still watch with interest.

End of Round 2
Battle Results: Both gorillas won initiative this round and were able to land their attacks on the supers, dealing 30 points each. The professor's quick thinking saved him a dip in icy water, and Maxmillian successfully prepares a defensive air barrier for the next round. Go ahead and roll for round 3. Be sure to state your actions clearly and provide some back up plans just in case you lose initiative. Also, sorry for the delay!
