OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
No, it does not stack.
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
I have. Attack rolls of 16, 16, and 18 were good enough to hit even with the deduction for the PfE aura.Storm11 wrote:have you been applying the -2 to hit for the Paladins aura?
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
I usually say that lightning bolt can't target one creature in melee without hitting others in the same melee. But in this situation, Lar and Gragog are standing on the stairs out of the water while the wights fight them from in the water, so I'd allow a lightning bolt targeted at the water to hit the wights but not Lar or Gragog.Inferno wrote:If he can cast Lightning Bolt upon the remaining (known) wights, without hitting a friend, Agax will do so.
Otherwise, he will shield Gragog with Protection From Evil. Thanks.
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
Ok. Thanks.
Normally, I'd save such a spell for more foes, but Lar and Gragog are losing levels like crazy here. I'll use the scroll of Lightning Bolt, and mark it off my sheet.

FYI:Storm11 wrote:wouldnt you have twice fried Scarlett as well if she was in the water?
Legal disclaimer: The DM's decision to have Agax fire lightning bolts in the player's absence, is an implicit and binding acknowledgement that to do so would not harm Scarlett.Inferno wrote:Hi,

If I'm holding things up, please NPC my character.
Agax will cast Lightning Bolt at as many wights as he can catch, as long as it won't hurt Scarlett. Thanks.

Maybe Agax fired the bolts above the water line, and undead flesh is not conductive.

All actions performed on behalf of an NPC'd player are conducted without warranty, either express or implied.Inferno wrote:Legal disclaimer: The DM's decision to have Agax fire lightning bolts in the player's absence, is an implicit and binding acknowledgement that to do so would not harm Scarlett.
Maybe Agax fired the bolts above the water line, and undead flesh is not conductive.

And in cases where a player's NPC action request is made conditional on knowledge that the player does not have, the DM is free to ignore that condition or to interpret it according to the knowledge of the PC at the time the request is made. Thus, a request to "cast Lightning Bolt . . . as long as it won't hurt Scarlett" may be interpreted either as "cast Lightning Bolt" or "cast Lightning Bolt...as long as Agax has no indication that it would hurt Scarlett." In the instant case, Agax had seen Scarlett disappear and had not seen any sign of her since; thus, either interpretation had Agax casting the spell.
It's so seldom I get to use my lawyer skills in AD&D.

Eh that's ok I'm playing the role of the dark minded party member that can only find the worst case scenario in this searching for a likely dead Scarlett.

I will out of town for Gary Con this weekend, so I don't know how much I will get to post this weekend. If needed, please NPC Shinyah.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Was Bragar standing in the same spot as Scarlett when she disappeared?
Do we now hear three voices crying for help?

Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
Bragar was not in the same spot where Scarlett disappeared. Scarlett was on the south side of the hall and almost to the south door when she vanished. Bragar was closer to the north wall of the hall and not far from the spiral stairs when he vanished.
If you want to take a turn to map, I can post a map marked with the rough locations where each vanished.

You do not.
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
Lar following along wouldn't have changed anything. If you'd like, we can treat Lar as standing right behind the other two—well, one, now—pack held high with one hand and lantern held above the water with the other.Cwreando wrote:OOC I thought In my previous post I joined them and protected them with my PFE 10'R
Re: OOC Discussion III: Bride of OOC
OOC - I figured since Lar is a bit taller he could still sling his backpack/bag of holding on his back and not get it wet.
Lar will protect the light source from getting dowsed and stay near/on the steps unless he's tall enough to wade in and still keep the bag dry.
OOC - Does this seem to be the same exact spot Scarlett disappeared or is it a different location. Lar is trying to figure out if it's location trap or a creature.
Lar tells the others,"I wonder if there is a trap here or if this is a creature."

In case this fires up again before I'm back...
I’m going away for spring vacation. I'll be back by April 5th.
If I'm holding things up, please NPC my character to keep things moving.
Thanks!
