Re: OOC Chat II
I'm just glad we made it back at all. Touch and go there a few times.
Really sucks to lose Lars. Orrin is likely to ask for some kind of memorial made for him. Look for a post about it soon!

Speaking of memorials: I'm amending the rules on memorials and tributes so that the XP gain is immediate when the fund collection is CLOSED and construction begins on whatever it ends up being. The rules as they were written originally gave out the xp when the construction was complete. There's too much logistical headache and unnecessary waiting involved in that--for no real meaningful payoff.

Re: OOC Chat II
Wendall will take Lars share if you want. Ohhhhhh! Too soon?
Re: OOC Chat II
Wendall is so great at making friends.
Would the merchant in town, or anyone at the Harrowing, be able to make a bow that would let Lug add his strength bonus to the damage?
Lug, Orrin, and Naila have an Arrow of Beast Slaying, but not a bow among us.

Re: OOC Chat II
The shopkeeper can't make such a thing, but he recommends you chat with the hunters. Perhaps one of them is an adept bowyer.

That's not a bad idea, actually, if any mules are to be had. If we're going for coal, alloy bricks, and wood, we probably want something other than our backs to carry all that stuff back.Zorroroaster wrote:I'll update Orrin's sheet, spending $100 on Lars' memorial.
If we take on Rhodri's mission, we can scout for the location of the coal. Pretty soon we are going to have to hire some pack mules to bring these things back!
Also, I think you are allowed to use items of value (gems) towards the memorial, which would leave cash for you to re supply, etc.

Re: OOC Chat II
There is one pack horse in town that can be bought for book value plus 30%.
Re: OOC Chat II
52 GP, then?
A horse can carry up to 200 lbs, per the LL rulebook (seems kind of low, but I'm no horseman). The ingots weigh about 10 lbs, so that's 20 ingots, total. Hm.
A wagon would be better, but I doubt we'd be able to get a cart through dense forest, at least not easily or quickly. And we certainly couldn't take it into caves or dungeons. We could hire a guard, but this gets more an more expensive. Might not be worth the trouble.

Re: OOC Chat II
Only 20 ingots true, but maybe a fair bit of coal, or wood? I agree though, the horse can move easily enough through forest but if we are to do any kind of sneaking about and/or assaulting the Finger or anything like that, it gets tricky.
Tough call.

Re: OOC Chat II
A cart can be had (you'll need to negotiate with a farmer to buy one of theirs), a wagon is tougher--only the duke and the merchants have any at the moment, and theoretically the merchants want theirs for hauling goods.
Re: OOC Chat II
Sorry if the answer to this is posted somewhere—do bonuses for high attributes apply to XP gained from self-promotion and memorials?
Re: OOC Chat II
Yeah, I'm leery about the pack animals bit...they'd be helpful at hauling loot, but might make it more difficult to acquire it in the first place. Besides going through dense forest (which I think is going to rule out a cart/wagon), that mountainside looked pretty steep from your last foray; I doubt a horse can handle that. That means leaving it behind if we try to climb/enter the mountain, with or without someone to watch it. If we see a good opportunity, I'd like to at least take a look inside...if we encounter anything serious, we fire off sleep spells and hightail it.
DM question: could we rig a travois, that Mammon could pull? How much weight could he handle?

No, only "earned" xp.Zhym wrote:Sorry if the answer to this is posted somewhere—do bonuses for high attributes apply to XP gained from self-promotion and memorials?

Mammon is neither trained for nor interested in that kind of work.Spartakos wrote:Yeah, I'm leery about the pack animals bit...they'd be helpful at hauling loot, but might make it more difficult to acquire it in the first place.
