The Professor winces. In his most pedantic, scolding tone, he says, "Decidedly not, Maximillian. And let me stress how important it is that you not make any facetious comments about bananas, monkeys, Samsonite luggage, or whatever other frivolous associations with gorillas might occur to that overheated brain of yours. The Moon Gorillas are dignified creatures, and expect to be taken seriously. Furthermore, they are dangerous, even to one as... robust as yourself."

Will provide an update for this tomorrrow. I'm finding that my work schedule is tight on free time right now :| I will have more time on the computer for sure, considering that I'm only working until 2:30 E.S.T. that day.

The Professor sighs with exasperation and says, "Oh, go ahead, get it all out of your system now, before we're in range of their telepathic sensors."

After instructing everyone on proper first introductions with the telepathic gorillas, Professor Perryton gives the go ahead to enter. The submarine enters a dark chamber that is circular in shape and appears to have no further openings. After the door closes behind you, you are in pitch darkness, save the lights being emitted from your craft. After a moment of silence, the submarine is pulled downwards, like an elevator. The crewmen try to wrest control of the submarine, but cannot do so. The plummet into the depths of the trench goes on for about 5-10 minutes.

The professor is absolutely fascinated by all of this, learning that the trench goes even further down than reports have previously indicated. Then again, no one but him and a select few knew of the existence of Gorillapolis in the first place, still, even his estimates were already a couple hundred miles above him. The rush of movement then stops as the submarine slowly exits the encapsulated darkness and is welcomed with a wide display of glowing blue lights down below, the city of Gorillapolis!

The professor is astounded even further as he realizes what he is seeing! Gorillapolis is not the ancient city ruins that he had depicted in his imagination, but instead, it would appear as if it is a crashed mega-city spaceship, straight out of a science fiction comic. Even the crewmen exchange surprised looks with one another as they were not briefed on something like this.

The Professor feels nervous about the dreamy look on Max's face, and considers bringing up the matter of the telepathic sensors, again. Instead, he says, "They have solved many things which could be a great use to our species. And, I dare say, we have a few solutions they might benefit from. Both species have much to gain by increased communication and cooperation. But they are shy, and wise enough to know that humans are not always at their best when encountering things outside their quotidian experience. So, it behooves us to be on our best behavior. We are ambassadors, and the future of two species is in our hands."

"I suggest the stern application of reason to your frivolous impulses, Maximillian. And, while you do so, would you so kind as to fetch a few things from our storage area? The metal container I asked you to keep an eye on, and there should be large tyvex envelope on my steamer trunk. We will want to bring both with us for our initial meeting with the Gorillas."

The crew of the SSI Acmon manages to dock safely in one of the underwater ports found on the base of one of the big structures. The room is filled with water, but only for a minute. The area is drained and the room pressure stablizes to the new environment. Using the various tools on the submarines control panel, they are able to confirm that it is safe to exit the craft without having to wear anything, the air around them breathable and clean.

Before you can even leave the submarine, a guard detachment of the telepathic gorillas flood into the docking bay, some carrying guns with wires attached to their heads, others more cybernetically augmented and aggressive looking. All of the guns are pointed at the submarine's exit ramp, and you can feel the traces of multiple minds scanning your own. Voices, almost, but not quite recognizeable, at least to Max. The professor, however, is calm when this happens, and cannot help but smile.

The Professor leans over and whispers to Maximillain, "This is quite a good sign, actually. The bigger the display of aggression before the rituals of dominance, the more honor you accrue when you win. Unless, of course, you don't win. Then, the bigger the display of aggression, the tinier the pieces you get torn into."

"So, be sure to win."

Maximillian:

Max is confused at first when he hears the voices looking around to see where they are coming from then the Professor spoke to him (see above^).
Trying not to focus on any jokes about monkeys, he concentrates on the Kimba the White Lion cartoon for some reason.

The Professor takes off his jacket and folds it neatly over a chair on the bridge. He loosens his tie, removes it, and tucks it into the side pocket of the jacket. He unbuttons the cuffs of his shirt, and neatly and methodically rolls up his shirtsleeves, revealing stick-thin arms, brown and wrinkled with age, and, surprisingly, covered in a dense pattern of faded blue tattoos. He removes his glasses, buffs them on his shirt, and considers them for a moment before slipping them back on his nose. He rotates his arms in a windmill-motion, groaning slightly as his joints creak and pop.

Looking out over the bristling hulks of the armed gorillas, he sighs and says, "I have no talent or inclination towards fisticuffs. Still, needs must, yes?"

Maximillian:

Max sees that the Professor appears to now be readying for a fight & sighs.

"So, we are going to have to fight these dudes, as a greeting?"

"So, it's sort of like Klingon foreplay, only now it is for seeing if we are up to snuff

as being any worth associating with?"

When you guys are ready to step outside the submarine and begin the Ritual of Dominance, you will need to roll your intiative for the first round of combat as well as state your actions. See the "How to use the Master Table and your rolls" thread for more details on this. Or, I could walk you guys through it, your call.

After marshaling his thoughts, to make sure his mind his calm, aware, and open, the Professor steps out of the sub with his skinny arms open wide.

"Greetings, my generous lunar hosts, from the surface of this planet. I could not stay long from the splendors of Lost Gorillapolis. With me is my protege, called Maximillian. He is young and unmated, and, so, impetuous, even frivolous. But he is strong and clever, and worthy company, as he shall soon prove. In our conveyance is a crew of sailors. They are our subordinates, and are not to be challenged."

The Professor shuffles his feet into a boxing stance from the Marquis of Queensbury rules. "I, Professor Percvial Perryton, claim, by the strength of my back and the vigor of my mind, the right to walk uncontested among you. I would enter your city for purposes of research, to expand the knowledge of both our peoples. "
