Nella, Baronness of Ghent, is ready to see what this holds. She's known to be a talented swordwoman (Kensai Monk) and physician (Healer trait).

I should be able to begin reviewing character sheets and providing feedback over the weekend.
Then, hopefully, we can kick this thing off sometime next week, or possibly after the holiday next weekend?

Keep the questions coming, if you have any.

I'm getting into building my character. D&D Beyond is asking about encumbrance. I did a quick forum search and it doesn't look like the topic came up here. What encumbrance method would you like to use?

Aight, got one more question for you guys: I think I'm going to go fighter. Which one supplement would you recommend for fighter?

Don't choose based on anything other than what you get access to at 3rd level. The next Archetype feature you get access to is at 7th level, which you aren't seeing for a long time.
I think you'd like Battle Master. You get access to Maneuvers which let you do attacks more varied than "I swing my sword".

Assuming you are not picking a race out of Volo's so all options are on the table, it depends on what you want to do. Arcane Archer is pretty cool if you'd prefer ranged combat instead of melee. Eldritch Knight gives some spell-casting ability. For standard melee, Battle Master has some interesting Maneuvers, such as disarming, knocking the target prone, or pushing them away. Champion may not seem as sexy, but you crit with 19+ and at 10th level you get another fighting style. Cavalier could be a cool build as well, even though you (probably) won't have a mount in the dungeon. There is really only one feature that deals specifically with the mount. I don't know as much about the other options,

Yes, maximum hit points at 1st-level and roll for each level after.
I'm going fighter:

Dave, did you ever determine how you want to handle magical items? I was going to wait to buy equipment until that decision was made.

Yeah, none to start with. There should be plenty to be found in play.

I'm a little unclear on which flanking rules we're using. Are we using the optional rule or the sneak attack/ pack tactics rule?

I'm not going to outright answer this question.
Let me know if the revision I made to the house rule (
here) is more clear (or clearer)?

Aight, so should we go ahead and start talking about party composition? Does anyone have any strong feelings about this?

Party!!

It sounds like the GM wants to begin in media res, or at least with us meeting, randomly assorted, when dropped in by the teleporter.
I am open for either. My character is a swordwielding Baronness who spreads around coins at the Yawning Portal, buying wines and interesting tales. I am fine with anyone who wants to know her, or of her.

It's going to be this.
Which is partially why I have been recommending players not be overly concerned with party composition because you won't necessarily know which group you'll end up with (or if you potentially end up on your own).
