As the party looks towards the south, the reason why these rooms are so empty becomes clear. you see what seems to be a floating debris headed towards the party, including some chain-mail, when on 2nd look, it is a 10x10 cube of a jelly like mass on the way. It clicks in you head, it is a gelatinous cube and it is headed to the party.

Initiative roll and actions folks.

Jinx bolts back to where they entered the area headed straight back for the door. Not having anything for ranged attacks other than one dagger he decides scatter is good enough an order to flee. "Good lord! I have nothing to fight such a creature as this. RUN!"

If the cube is still down the corridor to the south, Wolf will pour out a flask of oil directly in the archway and leave a trail back into the room a ways. He will wait until the cube enters the pool of oil and will then light it up and hightail it down the NE corridor with the rest of the party.

OOC: We have two exits (and a third counting the south corridor it came from) and the large room itself. If we scatter, it can only attack one or few of us while others missile it. If the oil lights it all the better.
