Vorkath, paladin
Are the bats being repelled by Vorkath's Protection from Evil aura vs. summoned creatures? How wide is the bridge? The 'higher tower' is part of the main tower but separate, and continues upwards with no entry from this roof?
Vorkath waves Excommunicator to swat away bats if they get close. "It seems bats and rain make searching for secret doors up here difficult. That bridge could be a short-cut over to the other tower. But it seems easier to investigate rooms we passed on the way up."

Iluq scans the bridge and outer area, "I do not believe Ireena would have gone through here, willingly."

The bats do not appear to be affected by the paladin's aura. The bridge is about 8' wide. The high tower is a separate tower from the tower you just climbed, but cuts into it a bit (as shown on the map) and extends further upward by 150' to 200', the best you can estimate from here. You see no means of entry to that tower from this roof. The tower to the north rises about 50' to 100' further above you, you guess.

Vorkath, paladin

"I think Iluq right, I doubt Ireena went over that dangerous bridge," says Vorkath. "Tibbius, is your spell in effect still? Is her shirt up in the higher tower or across the way?"

If not, Vorkath says: "I favor exploring the rooms in this tower, if the majority favors such."

Locate object, as cast by a 7th-level MU, has a duration of 7 minutes. Given the slow rate at which the caster can turn around to scan the surrounding area, most of the the spell's duration had expired by the time Tibbius had finished his initial search. The rest expired by the time you started climbing the stairs again.

Robert "hmm well that would be a fair idea, the problem now is that we have our original task and now the locating of Ireena who vanished when we were under the paintings spell."

Vorkath, paladin

"Perhaps we should rope you just in case winds or bats blow you off the bridge," says Vorkath to Tumbler.

Date: Nouluna 4, 1221
Time: 8:10 PM
Weather: Thunderstorm
Moon: Full
Location: Castle Ravenloft, Tower
**************************************

You affix a rope to Tumbler for safety. The intrepid and nimble locksmith crosses the bridge with ease.

On the other side of the bridge rises a tower. Against the wall of the tower, steps spiral up and down around an open, gaping shaft. Halberds line the wall near the steps. The height and depth of the shaft disappears into darkness.

"Do a quick check of the stairs!" yells Vorkath across the bridge to Tumbler. "Don't be a hero - don't go in any rooms without us!"

Robert "Tumbler was the bridge safe for passage without the rope?" Robert yells out to Tumbler.

A DM's note on this: I rolled a DEX check at -2 (that improves the chance of success) to see whether Tumbler crossed the bridge safely. Thinking about the odds on that, the chance of falling is too high. For future attempts to cross the bridge I'll use a similar mechanic to what the drawbridge used: Roll a d20; if it comes up 1, roll a DEX check (with no modifier) to see if your characters slips and falls.

Agrippo will encourage tumbler with his derring-do and in a side whisper to Vorkath say "bet yer 10 gold he trips on the way back!".

Agrippo is amazed at the towering tower above us and will point his spear to the top and say"we should go up there eventually but unless we all make it across the bridge then clear these rooms below us first."

Robert looks to Agrippo and scowls a bit then decides he will attempt the bridge himself and go with Tumbler.

Tumbler makes it across with a small sigh of relief. He takes stock of the surroundings and at the human's request takes a few cautious steps down the stairs.
