Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
I suppose this is really just fishing for interest, but here's the basic rundown. Let me know what you think.
Title: The Morrow Project MO-R-02
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic
System: Cortex Classic
Setting: Post-Apocalyptic American Midwest
Morrow Project Recon Team MO-R-02
The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had expected. The tension between the major superpowers had been gradually escalating since the end of the Second World War, and, by the third decade of the new millennium, global pressure had risen to the breaking point.
On July 11th, 2017, a simple system error on a NORAD computer system led to a war that bathed the world in nuclear fire. American nuclear missiles decimated Russia, but Russia was not to die alone. They were able to fire their own missiles while the American arsenal was still in the air. Seeing the end of days on the horizon, the remaining nuclear-capable nations took this final opportunity to settle old debts.
However, as the world burned, a secret society waited, biding their time to serve the purpose for which they existed.
In 1983, a mysterious man by the name of Bruce Edward Morrow, origin unknown, gathered nine of the United States’ leading industrialists into an organization known as the Council of Tomorrow. This organization brought forth the concept of the Morrow Project; an ambitious plan to cryogenically freeze special teams of carefully selected individuals and equipment and store them away in secret underground vaults to aid in the reconstruction of the U.S. after nuclear war.
For many years the Project gathered people and equipment that would suit their purposes. Then, in 2013, the Project implemented its plan. They secreted away their teams of frozen heroes, and settled in to occupy Prime Base, the only Morrow Project base not to be frozen with the others. They would stand a long vigil, to wait out the war and wake the scattered teams three years after the last of the bombs fell.
Four years later, the war the Council had predicted occurred, and the Project personnel slept as the world ended above them. It would be only a few short years before the wake-up call from Prime Base woke them to begin rebuilding the world.
But the wake-up call never came.
You are a member of Morrow Project Recon Team MO-R-02. A system error has awoken your team, 147 years overdue. However, your orders still stand, and you have a lot of work to do to make up for lost time.

Hmm really sounds a little similar to playing Fallout Pen & Paper system. Never played Cortex Classic but it sounds like it could be right down my alley

Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
The setting would be very different from Fallout expectations, since it's based on a modern interpretation of an apocalypse, rather than a 1950's futurism approach, but you'd probably like it.
That said, Cortex Classic is the system that was used to make the Serenity and Battlestar Galactica RPGs, among others. It's a really simple system to learn, and it's very story-oriented, as opposed to being really crunchy. It's my favorite system to run in PbP, both for simplicity and the flow of its combat mechanics.

Cool. I'll keep my eye on this see if it gets enough interest but color me interested.

I'll try to browbeat some of my other RPG buddies into playing in this, but we'll still need some people. I'm more than happy to teach the system, etc.

Sounds really interesting, throw me in along with Grey. If you do decide to run it I would be interested in playing.
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
I'd be interested but I think if i took on another game it might make my posting in the other RPGs I'm in even slower...and then Gryewolf would have to hunt me down and eat my liver.

Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
Well, interest seems to be decent, so I think I could risk the effort to put together the game and requirements. However, we must have at least four players. Any less than that and your chances at success and even survival are pretty low.

Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
Update: I sent a PM about getting the game set up, so we're on to the second step. I've already prepped the BBC for the threadgroup, so it'll be really easy to set up once the forum gets added by The Powers That Be.

Speak with ToniXX through PM for the set up of the threadgroup. Unless you have already.

Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
The game forum is set up with all relevant info for building PCs, so I am now officially looking for players. Reply here or via PM to let me know what team position you would like to apply for, and if you need anything to get started.

Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
Hi there!
I’d like to join if there are any spots left. This would be my first PbP.
I do own a copy of Cortex Classic and am becoming familiar with it.
I don’t know exactly what role I’d play, but something along the lines of a science officer would be interesting.
I can’t find the game thread, but I’m new so the problem might be me.
Let me know!

Welcome thymelord13!
NowhereMan should be along in a bit to help you. If there's room, NM just needs to add you to the game.
Be well!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Re: Rebuilding and Resurrecting in Post-Apocalyptia
The thread has been moved to the Archived section per there was no activity and Nowhereman said there wasn't yet enough interest to run it.
But we can easily dust it off and put it back into the active game section if there is more interest.
