Startled Illuq attempts to beat back the Zombies advance with his hammers, "Be destroyed by my light!"
Iluq, dual +1 hammer attack, THAC0 16: to hit, [1d20] = 4+1, [1d20] = 13+1; damage [1d4] = 3+2 (+1 v. L), [1d4] = 1+2 (+1 v. L)

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Robert takes a swing with his sword at the zombie near to him reaching it's rotting hands out at him.
Scimitar +1 to hit[1d20 +1] = 9+1 = 10 Damage[1d8+1] = 7+1 = 8

Vorkath holds his holy symbol-emblazoned shield up and shouts with religious conviction: "The power of the True God commands you, the truth of the True God compels you, be TURNED!"

The zombies rise and attack! A gangrenous arm reaches out and claws Robert in the face (Robert: -6 HP). The other zombie bites Iluq on the shoulder (Iluq: -5 HP)!
You quickly retaliate against the undead menace. Vorkath raises his shield that’s emblazoned with the holy symbol of his god and commands the zombies to begone! He’s done this to zombies before; they always turn and run against the mighty paladin’s faith. These, however, ignore him.
Iluq attacks with his hammers. The “squish” of hammer against zombie flesh is less satisfying than he’d hoped. Agrippo’s spear impales the zombie through the … well, where a heart would be if the heart mattered to a zombie. The zombie slumps over, dead. Deader. Deanimated.
Robert’s scimitar slices clean through the other zombie’s arm, severing it at the shoulder! The arm his the floor and keeps moving! It crawls towards Tumbler, who squashes the arm with a mighty blow of his hammer. The arm stops moving and zombie to which the arm belonged slumps over into a lifeless heap.
You made quick work of the zombies, but not without cost to yourselves.
Status: Agrippo: 46/52, Vokath: 40/40, Ireena: ??/??, Tibbius: 22/22, Randolph: 4/4, Iluq: 34/39, Tumbler: 24/39, Robert: 33/37

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Vorkath looks at the thrones for any writing, runes or symbols of lawful good nature like was seen before. "I am curious about the past owners of this castle."
The paladin peers over the balcony to get a view of the chamber, then seeks out stairs to go down. If there are none he suggests they tie rope around the thrones and balcony railings, for extra support, and lower down.

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Robert "Vorkath I suspect we just killed the old owners of this castle." Robert will help the barbarian paladin search the room looking for any hidden doors or passages as well as the obvious stairs and doors that Vorkath seeks.

Tibbius returns to his own form as his polymorph spell expires.
Vorkath takes a closer look at the thrones. They bear no writing or runes, but do feature lawful good holy symbols.
Stairs leading down behind you (see map here) appear to be the only exit other than the double doors through which you entered.

Robert "Well it appears the stairs or repelling over the balcony are our only options to the stairs it is or are we going repelling Vorkath?"

Vorkath copies the symbols he finds along the way on parchment or back of shield, for future reference. They seem vaguely familiar but he cannot place them.Grognardsw wrote:...The paladin peers over the balcony to get a view of the chamber, then seeks out stairs to go down...
"If none of us have found secret doors or compartments, let us put feet to stairs," says Vorkath, proceeding in established marching order.

Ughhhhh the original owners says Tumbler with a look of disgust.
He follows behind Robert with only one look back at the thrones and a shudder.
What a shitty day this is..

Iluq travels with the companions, a brief look back towards the two, now fully dead, creatures in the thrones, a look of pity across his face.

Robert looks back one last time at the completely dead zombies and just shakes his head and mutters "what a terrible way to rest after death."

Before you proceed down the stairs, Vorkath peers over the balcony to get a view of the chamber. His torchlight, however, does not reach the floor. The balcony must be set quite high in the chamber.
The stairs lead to a 10’ space that opens into a vast chamber to the east. Within the dark confines of alcoves in the north and south of the room lurk 8-foot tall shadowy figures. Their stone forms show mighty muscled arms and legs. A black shadow falls across the features of their faces.

Robert peeks out at the shadowy figures to see if they move. If they do not move he will toss a sling stone at one of them to see if they are just statues or not.

Vorkath pauses on the steps, 10' up from the statues so as to have higher ground.

Robert will try and see without using his torch if the figures are indeed radiating heat.
