Action Thread 2
Re: Action Thread 2
Blodgett enters the room, sword drawn, and examines the far wall as well. He's looking for a secret door or some other anomaly in the plaster and stone.

Re: Action Thread 2
Elwita interrupts Blodgett, Freda, Ogre and Phanstern as they perform their current searches and requests that they back out of the room once they're finished with their current activities.
"I suspect this ceiling is not entirely secure, and there is definitely something unnatural about this wall." Elwita lightly taps the easternmost wall with her hand.
While waiting for the room to be vacated, Elwita continues her thorough examination of the easternmost wall looking for vulnerabilities which includes lightly tapping on sections of the wall looking for hollow sounds indicating an opening on the other side.
After the room has been evacuated and Elwita decides upon her targeted section of the eastern wall, she swings her hammer in a calculated manner in an attempt to knock a hole in it without disturbing the ceiling above her.
Once this hole has been established, Elwita will peer into the other side to determine whether or not the location is suitable to continue breaking down the wall enough to allow for the party to pass through it.

Phanstern is already out in the hall, but he backs away from the end to give the others room to come out.
Re: Action Thread 2
Karraway continues to keep a vigilant watch at rearguard. He turns occassionally to see the others moving in and out the room and trusts they're getting things sorted. He readjusts his holy symbol and takes a deep breath, mouthing a quick prayer to Pelor for success in completing their mission.

Day 1– In the complex - 1:06am

People start filing out of the room, as Elwita starts her tapping.
The tapping doesn't go on for long, though the echoes seem to go on forever. Elwita settles around the center of the wall for those looking into the room.
I'm assuming, except for Elwita, that the MO is the way you are all situated. Thus Karraway is closest to the southern end of the hall. PM sent.

Re: Action Thread 2
Elwita, having identified her targeted section of the wall, begins to swing her hammer in a calculated manner. The wall proves to be more solid than she was expecting, and she realizes that her banging is make more noise than she'd like, so she begins to wail away at the wall more aggressively, hoping to achieve a balance between safety and reaching the intended results more quickly.

Re: Action Thread 2
Day 1– In the complex - 1:20am
.
Elwita, finding her sweet spot in the center of the wall starts hammering away, making quick work of it.
Karraway, wincing with every stroke, keeps eyes peeled and is amazed that no one walks or peeks around the corner of the hall's southern end.
Elwita without too much ado, after all breaking down is much easier than building up, is able to make a hole in the wall about 4' tall and almost that wide. As she peeks in she lets a quiet, unconscious gasp of "oh" out as she looks. Others crowded around the door can see that it opens up, no more cramped hallway, or so it seems at first glance. Also, from the glittering and moonlight, it looks like there is no more ceiling, at least beyond the hole she has opened in the wall.
PM sent.
Just a continued double check, I'm going with Marching Order, and Weapons in Hand as noted below, unless told otherwise. Thanks.

Having achieved her goal of providing an exit from the room seemingly absent of of one, Elwita backs away and allows the rest of the party to take a look at the now available courtyard area.rredmond wrote:Elwita without too much ado, after all breaking down is much easier than building up, is able to make a hole in the wall about 4' tall and almost that wide. "Those statues -- " Elwita points at some lifelike statues lining a wall beyond the hole " -- appear quite realistic, no? Could this have been some sort of a museum?"

Re: Action Thread 2
From the hallway, sticking her head into the doorway, Freda whispers, "We can't see any statues, El..."
She cautiously enters the room and approaches the opening to get a better look at the statues. She's suspicious about the new wall. Does the room beyond appear to be a continuation of this room? Or a completely different room? By "no ceiling" do you mean we can see the sky above? Or it is far-reaching and we cannot see it?

Then she directs her gaze at Elwita and whispers,"I hope nothing was sealed in that courtyard for safety reasons!" She stands with her back to the wall, immediately next to the opening and uses the reflection of the blade of her sword to see if she can detect any movement coming from the room beyond (without a proper mirror, that's probably the best she can hope for...).

Re: Action Thread 2
Eljayess stands her ground in the hallway, looking to close and lock the door behind her when it becomes time to follow the party.
Re: Action Thread 2
While Elwita never really considered the statues to be anything more than just statues, the concern expressed by her party mates does provide her with a greater sense of caution. Despite the warning, she finds herself instinctively taking steps towards the opening she created in the wall in front of her; driven by her natural impatience and guided by a strong desire to find out more about this courtyard.
Elwita is able to avoid fully entering the courtyard (surprising herself by her ability to exercise that much self-restraint) but she can't seem to prevent herself from leaning her head forward.
With squinted eyes, Elwita tries to get a better look at the courtyard.

Re: Action Thread 2
I got bad feeling about this.
Ogre is getting increasingly spooked as Phanstern's words sink in.
What is this place?
His knuckles crack as they tighten around the hilt of his sword.
We have only gotten in the door and we are already in trouble.
He takes a step back, head whipping side to side looking for something to pop out of the shadows.
Maybe we should just go
