Kill me.......please

#1 Post by OGRE MAGE »

What's up folks!

PbP virgin here, just been reading a few of the posts and this all sounds extremely interesting.

Like most on here I played a lot of D&D back in the day but got away from gaming for several years as life had its way with me. I have recently joined a new FtF group that is currently playing C&C and it's been pretty cool so far. Unfortunately, they don't get together as often as I'd like.

I like the idea of playing online in a campaign that is kinda.......always moving along?

I have no XP's in PbP, and it looks like I've got a lot more posts to read to figure out what's going on, but I wanted to pop on here first to "check-in". I'd love to find a AD&D game with frequent activity to cut my teeth on, as that is the system I'm most familiar with.

Thanks for letting me jump in!

(any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated)

Welcome to the unseen servant! We enjoy long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners, snow cones, and the occasional dungeon crawl!

I came here with no experience in PbP as well but you get the hang of it fast and we'll all be here to pick you up when you fall.

Don't pay attention to monkeywrench.

We are into domination and S&M. The rest of it is just a con to get you into the dungeon.

We can always use an active player in the community Ogre Mage no matter what game we appear to specialize in the old school around this website and there isn't anything wrong with that. I'd love to give C&C a run some time. Again Welcome. :)

Hey, thanks for the warm and fuzzy welcomes!
After reading a bit more on here, this thing sounds pretty darn cool!

I'm gonna keep reading and maybe send a few DM's some PM's.
Any advice on a DM who is patient with the newbies?

I could post quite often and don't mind starting out with a pre-gen.
Thinking maybe 1E or something close to it. (I assume it's helpful to know the system?)

Thanks!

What's the point of the ruse if you're just going to tell them!?

I'm always up for anything really, even if I know nothing about the game, I just like to play. If you're looking to start a game you can usually count me in. :D

I am up for anything even if I don't know it as well that is why I joined the 4C Powered game. ;)

I think I am patient lol I could always make room for you if you a familiar with AD&D 2e still. I've come to find all the DM's I deal with on here to be good though. Try Talking to wolfpack, or Ruk They I believe are still looking for players in at least one of their games.

Before you start sending PMs to DMs, you should do two things.

1. Go to this section: viewforum.php?f=21 Look for any LFP games with [OPEN] in the title. This signifies the DM has an opening in their game and is looking for a new player. If it says [WAITLIST], then the game is full but the DM is accepting people on a waiting list. If it says [CLOSED] then the DM is not looking for new players for their game. Blindly sending PMs might not be the best way to create a first impression...

2. Go to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2417 There you will find basic info on any of the GMs that have submitted information.

Thanks for the info!

The DMs I was referring to were actually the ones FROM that thread. I figured it was ok if they are the ones who request that you send them a PM. I would never do anything blindly.....unless I failed my save.

I'll keep reading.....

Welcome indeed! You will find that most of us are patient with a lot of things, but it is also important to take note of various post rates throughout all of the games and their respective DM/GMs. Some like the pace to be faster, some take their time, as a player it is important to know this expectation when going into a game. Hope you have a good time here and maybe we will even play in a future game together, who knows? ;)
Even a child that receives one bit of praise has the ability to excel in a single talent, and those who receive regular encouragement can feel confidence, achieve success, and become leading members of society. Because they don’t believe they are worthless, they don’t need to raise a fist and have vengeance against fate or the world at large… ~Inspector Lunge
