Oh that is awful! The flu is horrible this year. Make sure you stay hydrated. Innana is having fun running around naked. She is invisible as well. I will let her know to behave herself until you get back.

While Innana is running around naked, make sure she is also practicing with her sword as well. We need her skilled in sword before the party leaves camp tomorrow!

All, while TK is he healing, I have started updating the Table of Contents thread. Basically, I have been linking to the IC page that starts each new day (I'm up through Flaurmont 15 but I will need to go back and retroactively add in the missing dates, and then fill in more detail in between dates). Question for anyone knowledgeable about such things: I have figured out how to link to the start of a page, but not to an individual post on a page. Can I do that? Also, can I do that if the thread is already locked? Thanks for any suggestions.

Bregalad can cast Invisibility on you again, if you wish. But Lanny is right, if you do not practice getting better in your skill with the sword, then you will not move up in proficiency. And that is a very big deal.

Improving your proficiency in sword from "Basic" to "Skilled" will give you a greater chance of hitting your opponent (an extra +2 to hit), the ability the do more damage (from 1d8 to 1d12), an improvement in your armor class (-2 vs one opponent), and also the ability to deflect one attack per round (thereby negating the damage done by your opponent for a single attack). These significant improvements could be the difference between living and dying, if we fight the giant cat again.

Hmmm... possibly, though not necessarily... Going strictly by the rulebook, Innana would technically have to make an attack on Thordin to lose her invisibility (you know, attack roll and damage roll). Although there's always a loophole for every rule if you look hard enough...

Aha! Here we are... So, Innana could actually make an attack on Thordin by throwing a punch at him. Thordin could either take the punch (probably 1 point damage (if any), since Innana's strength is not all that good... no offense, Innana). Thordin could also use his superior defensive abilities to deflect one incoming attack per round (one advantage of being skilled, AHEM). Then they could practice swords without Innana having to worry about Thordin accidentally severing one of her limbs because he can't really see her. (Note: to prevent any potential aftershock following her attack on Thordin, Innana should be fully clothed before throwing her punch and becoming visible again). :lol:

I kid of course. But yeah, Innana should definitely get skilled in sword as soon as possible.

So, I really have kind of glossed over this whole Invisibility thing, but I figure now is probably a good time for me to say that I'm not a huge fan of the direction this is going. While there is nothing in the rules that says anything about staying invisible for long periods of time, it is decidedly against the tone I am going for. At some point I am going to start introducing complications for being invisible, whether it be the difficulty of eating/drinking/etc. while invisible, being accidentally hit during combat, startling a bunch of scared loggers, etc.

So, I'm going to go ahead and rule that from now on, it is only possible to remain invisible for 4 hours out of every day before the psychic strain becomes too much. Keep in mind that I am also going to be enforcing other aspects of this as well: I'll be making Move Silently checks, for one. This should enable the spell to still be useful for scouting purposes, without the absurdity of people running around invisible for days on end without being noticed.

EDIT: This is *not* aimed at any one player, but instead is a revision of a practice that has been taken for granted and I have let slide.

Yes, please end it soon. It has been a mighty challenge observing good taste and not making invisibilty jokes and embarrasing situational comedy posts. :lol: Aquar can only go so long.

Invisibility is certainly a challenge to adjudicate, especially since every explanation of it I've seen has always says "only dispelled when the subject attacks another person" for the length of effect.

Similar to the Charm Person spell. Cast on something of a very weak mind, like a goblin, and an evil caster could easily have a permanent slave whenever he wanted...

Agreed. I find that when one becomes invisible, one gets sick of it pretty quickly but can't always get rid of it because there is not always something to attack. Invisibility (like Sleep) seems way too overpowered in Dark Dungeons...

You guys take all the fun away. I like the invisibility spell the way it is. It provides a way if safety, and having fun. It is easy to take off the invisibility if needed. I can just sword play.

I think TK is just talking about making it much more realistic to be invisible for too long. People start walking into you, you have trouble eating and drinking, nobody can do any kind of healing, you can't train properly, etc. in an attempt to ensure the spell isn't abused, thus taking away from the fun of the game.

I mentioned this in a pm to Innana, and thought it was worth repeating here. I have no issue with people using Invisibility here or there, to scout ahead, infiltrate an enemy camp, etc. but I do not want to see people using it for days at a time. It raises too many logistical nightmares, but, more importantly, imparts the wrong kind of tone for the game I want to run. You guys are supposed to be heroes boldly standing against the darkness.

How long do you guys want to wait around for Innana to become Skilled? Also, at this point the spellcasters have used up 5 levels of spell scribing materials. I'm guessing you have enough available?

Bregalad purchased 8 levels of spell scribing material, which he will share with the others. I'll be sure to mark it off his inventory, later tonight.

Concerning Innana moving up in skill with her sword, I am genuinely worried that this cat is too much for us to handle! If it was just Bregalad's decision, he would not pursue the beast, until the party members had moved up a level or two in experience. I suspect, though, that the group will want to confront it again. If that is the case, then we will need both Innana and Thordin to be at their best, and that means getting Innana to the next level in sword proficiency. I really think we should not set off until that happens. Otherwise, more of us will likely die. Could we just skip quickly through days to accomplish this? A few bad rolls in our next encounter with the cat, and we may experience a total party wipe out!

Innana is currently at 18/16 hours into her training. That means she is extremely close to being skilled. Another half day of intensive training with Thordin will probably do the trick (in which case the party can depart at noon), but Lanny is willing to wait a full day if necessary so that Innana feels secure in her training. Lanny will continue to study Mirror Image during that time, asking help from Drudsa and/or Bregalad to help him learn it faster. (Btw Lanny had enough spell scribing supplies for Leap, but he will need to borrow 2 levels worth of supplies from Bregalad for Mirror Image.)
