Abrex says, "Mason you look injured. Perhaps brother worren can heal you. I'm taking some silver. Just enough so I'm not burdened by it. You folk grab what u want."

Abrex move to the alter to examine it without touching it. Symbols he might recognize or secret openings. He circles it as he checks it out. He checks the flooring near it.

Worren

Of course. Worren moves over to Mason and says a prayer over him.

I believe that ring may be the key for this door. The magical aura may simply be a part of its use.

If someone has the ring we grabbed from that box of snakes, is that the one we want to try and put in the slot?

Elsa gave a jewel ring she found in an asp chest. She has been wearing it; its shown no magic. I'm uncertain if there were multiple rings.
Elsa's head hurts as she tries to figure out the chair shield idea. She bends four iron spikes into "C" shaped clasps to put around the rope and chair edge. She thinks this more refined hold on the rope may work.

Abrex says as he tosses them a coin, "Try this before the ring if it fits."

Xale was about to utilize the now-confirmed enchanted ring into the slot when his companions decided to attempt to utilized a coin instead. "I'm not sure that I would do that-"; he said before Malibran goes ahead and attempts it....

Flinching a bit and hoping that the trap-ridden tomb doesn't have yet another deadly trap kick in; the Dwarven Warrior-Priest gives a quick prayer that nothing terrible happens. *Assuming that it doesn't; if nothing happens after the coin attempt is made; Xale will attempt to insert the ring into the slot...

*Obviously; this part of the post will be deleted if the coin triggers something

Elsa continues her attempts to attach the chair’s seat to her shield. Unfortunately, even her incredible strength is not enough to bend iron spikes into clasps with her bare hands.

Abrex visually inspects the altar, but sees nothing of interest.

Worren says a prayer over Mason. Some of the monk’s wounds close.

Malibran, Abrex, and Xale ponder the slot. Abrex tosses Malibran a coin, which the cleric puts in the slot. The coin disappears without a sound. Xale then takes the ring from the room of chests, and inserts it into the slot.

With a grinding noise, the section of wall around the slot slides into the floor, revealing an entry into a passageway beyond!

Zoster approaches the group close to the newfound passage.

Well done! Does it seem safe to walk ahead?

So no Bend Bars chance to bend those iron spikes per my earlier post?

Out of curiosity, was Elsa's ring from the asp room the one that disappeared, or a different one?

No, no bend bars chance I'm afraid. The bending bars chance is to bend soft iron bars enough to squeeze through them. Bending a short, thick metal spike into a U-shape would need superhuman strength (or a forge), and would be as likely to break an unheated spike as bend it.

It was the ring you found in the asp room (which I described as the room of chests) that disappeared. If you're curious, it was a +1 ring of protection. It's destroyed now, of course.

Elsa ponders. Perhaps some of the dainty darts from friend Zoster could secure the rope to the wooden side of the chairs. He'll ask the warrior druid if he can borrow some and try.

Absolutely, help yourself. Zoster lends Elsa some of his darts.

Worren looks back at Zoster and Elsa. "I do not know. Perhaps we should toss one of the coins of light down the passage way to insure its safety," he says.

"I will lead if you like, looking for unseen dangers is a particular skill of mine." Mason says.

As before, he is mostly looking for hidden switches, triggers and trip lines.

Elsa follows at the rear of the party, about 5' back, weary of shield bumping anyone.

Eduardo, laden with his share of the silver and quietly pleased, follows in his usual spot behind Mason at the front as they enter the passage. He is quite impressed with Elsa's ingenuity assembling her Shield of Disintegration, yet has no desire be near her device in the chaos of battle.

He tries to gauge from the width of the tunnel beyond Mason if using a spear is practical. If it seems too narrow, he is prepared to switch to his mace.

"So, what is it you're looking for, anyway, Mason? I wouldn't be able to spot a trap if it jumped up and impaled me on a poisoned spike."

Xale is indeed all for pressing ahead; and upon hearing of the suggestion for using a coin with a 'Light' enchantment on it being used to illuminate the way speaks up; "Indeed; that is a fine idea Zoster. Let us cast it forward to see what he we might."

Elsa constructs a contraption out of her shield, the detached seat, some rope, and Zoster’s darts. It looks fragile but lethal.

You turn your attention to the newly revealed passageway. The opening is narrow, but with the help of a tossed light coin you see that it quickly widens to a 10’ passage that turns south to a set of stairs leading down. You follow the stairs, checking for traps and pits all the way. At the bottom of the stairs, the passage turns west and ends in a door 30’ ahead of you.
