Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Vorkath moves with the group toward the stairs. He does not know where the gargoyles are, nor do they know us. Only sounds give us away. “Tibby hurl your cookpot and iron spikes back far behind us,” whispers the paladin, throwing a handful of his own iron spikes back as well. He hopes the noise will draw the gargoyles away fast enough for the group to make it up the stairs to clear vision and a moment of safety to take stock.
Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Hearing the thud thud of heavier wings above (like some chinook perhaps) Agrippo will race for the first floor landing and then turn to take a defensive stance vs this aerial threat. He will not throw his spear but 'go defensive' to provide max cover for others to get by on the staircase

Robert also goes up the stairs with haste and prepares to defend or attack anything trying to get after the group.

Tibbius shifts to a gargoyle form and clutches Randolph to his chest. His stony feet scratch at the stairs and his wings buffet the smoke as he attempts to take flight at the rear of the party.

You duck the gargoyles, throw some distractions behind you, and head for the stairs as quickly as you can. On the stairs, you finally rise above the obscurement cloud. The sound of stony wings recedes back into the heights of the room you just left, except for one pair of wings that follows you up the stairs and emerges from the cloud cradling Randolph Cat in its stony arms. The bats, who of course aren’t bothered at all by vision-obscuring effects like a fog, continue to swarm around you.
The massive stairs rise to a landing 20 feet wide by 40 feet long. Stone arches support a ceiling covered with frescoes, 20 feet overhead. The frescoes’ faded lines depict the stone mountain atop which Ravenloft stands being taken by armored forces on horseback. The faces of the characters in the fresco are scratched beyond recognition. Dust stirred up by the bats’ wings swirls in the air here, making it difficult to see details. There is a staircase on either side of the 20-foot wide south wall. There are two alcoves between the staircases. Light filtering through the dust shows two suits of armor, one standing in each alcove. Each suit of armor is covered with dark stains and holds a mace designed like a curved dragon head. Engraved words on the arches above the alcoves are scratched out.

Tibbius flies past the armor along the ceiling, to the bend of the passage.

"Tibbius is that you? Or did one of them gargoyles make it up here? Robert asks the gargoyle feeling all the while like a fool.

Iluq looks at the gargoyle, "I believe it is Tibbius, seeing as how it grabbed Randolph and has not eaten him or something..." He then warily looks across the corridor at the armor, his hammers at the ready, "We should proceed with caution, a set of armor is one thing but those wordings on the alcoves give me a foreboding feeling..."

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
What words according to the information we can't even read the words they are scratched out.
"Ah yes you mean the indecipherable words? I worry not for things I cannot read or understand. I more so care about things with stainds on them that look as if they have slain before." Robert replies back.
Hope I don't come off as too snide with Roberts remarks.

Iluq looks sideways to Robert, "Then you will die a foolish death. While you may not be able read the words or understand their meaning that is exactly why you must be wary, Evil does not make it's presence known before striking." He then turns his attention back towards the statues. and carefully advances with the rest of the group.

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
"Ah so we are back to foolish bickering again lol shall I smash something and set it aflame?" Robert chuckles. "Trust me I am concerned of the words but the Armor if it is living is far more higher a threat than some scribbled evil words."

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Agrippo will maintain a defensive watch from the landing, setting his spear grounded beneath his feet ready to impale the first gargoyle not loving clutching a cat(!) that comes out through the fog. the bats though impeding have not attacked us so he will use his shield to waft them away. "Robert, relieve these 'guards' of their weapons if we must, lets' decide our route quickly. "

Iluq sighs, I too do not wish to revert back to bickering so I will stop this now, My only point was that the two things may in fact be together."

Re: 3. Castle Ravenloft
Anyone have a 30' pole? I want to poke the armor with a stick
"I do not wish to do so but it appears we need to get these bats out of our hair so as to say. Plus we have other potential threats or annoyances in the close vicinity. Shall we check out the armor together?" Robert states simply calming before another debate arises.
