Fellows. Heads up that I will be out of the country from today until the 16th. I do intend to try to keep up, but my posting rate will likely be even more erratic and annoying than it is now, if you can imagine such a thing.

fingers crossed

Re: Illusion and Reality (ooc and questions VIII)
With even more erratic posting, the shroud of mystery surrounding Kiri will be complete.
Re: Illusion and Reality (ooc and questions VIII)

Thanks for the heads up, Pixie. And thanks, everyone (who is not poisoned) for posting. I'll update the game today!

Yes. In the same position as every trap door on every level*.

Nice roll on the DEX check! Saved you a tumble down the stairs.

(*Here's an old map for reference...)
Re: Illusion and Reality (ooc and questions VIII)
Please remind me how saving throws work in 1e. As a 4th level fighter, Torix's ST vs. paralysis is 13. As a barbarian, he gets a +4 bonus. Does that mean he saves if he rolls under 17? Or he saves if he rolls over 9? I think when I played back in the day we always wanted to roll high in AD&D 1e.

Hi!
You're saving vs Poison, not Paralysis.
You want to roll high.
Barbarian class bonuses are added to your die roll, not the Saving Throw target.
Good luck!

Hi Pixie,
I know you're traveling, so I'll roll for Kiri and move it along.

Can he tell how many levels down to get to ground level?
Inferno wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 2:04 pm Learned Amethu silently calculates behind his mask that they are still two or three levels above ground.
Asterion and Torix enter the stale air with trepidation, scanning in every direction. The pair creep among the shattered massacre of strange, abstracted violence.

That was one level ago. So Amethu thinks they are now one or two levels above ground. Whereas it's four levels up to reach the roof.

Now it can be told!

Grandfather's small hand mirror needed to be at close range to reflect the gaze of the Medusa of the Tower. She first saw the mirror hovering from a distance and, recognizing the danger, closed her eyes. So during this entire combat, she was blind as well.
She could strike at a PC who was speaking or who had struck her (thus giving away their position). Grandfather stayed near her until the very end, as instructed. Grandfather was silent, so she couldn't locate the mirror to seize it.
She was careful not to speak for fear of giving away her position. So she didn't attempt to parley a truce. But if she had suffered another non-fatal wound, she might have.
Your tactics were smart, resulting in her defeat. Congrats!
New IC DM post tomorrow.

Do we have enough time to light a torch and scrounge for loot?
