Sister Marie thought the whole thing hilarious and a 'fitting punishment for risking magic instead of just running from the bird.'"
Vesper gives Elizabeth a soft smile and purrs "Then maybe it is I who owes you a kiss?" Then her smile broadens as she quips "Getting "goosed" is a common hazard in my profession yet it seems you managed it another way round". Gaurbal is momentarily confused as he is shaken awake. He wonders why he is lying on the floor and his hand instinctively goes to the dull ache of his nose.

The resulting sharp pain brings everything into focus and he sees Vesper kneeling over him. He doesn't register her question, but stumbles to his feet and looks around.

"The two thugs, they put something in the ale barrel."
Vesper fusses "Oooh, your poor nose! I'm sorry - I tried to mend it but my spell failed".

Seeing the jug features incongruously in the melee's debris she cautions the server "Don't touch that ale and send for Big Al!"

She then checks Tinu is getting treatment from Draven (whose aid she deems more reliable than her own).

Gaurbal

Gaurbal spies the sleeping thugs and relaxes slightly.

He nods at Vesper "Thank you for trying. I'll have to give you instructions on how to set it properly, I don't want it to heal crooked." A small smile tugs at his lips.

{Elizabeth}

"But that would make you look twice as tough!" chimes in Elizabeth with a bit of a giddy giggle. Someone is clearly a little high on adrenaline at the moment.

Gaurbal

Gaurbal turns to Elizabeth surprised and his smile widens.

"Only twice as tough? Well, I have to take what I can get I suppose."

Elizabeth grins, and runs a finger down her right cheek. "I mean, if you want three times, then you need to get a nice scar right here. After all, a guy who can take a sword to the face and live to the tell the tale isn't someone to mess with."

Mode: Roleplaying, Exploration, Combat
Location: Back yard of The Sea Serpent's Tooth Tavern
Present: Gurabal, Draven, Vesper, Tinu, Elizabeth, Galreth, Helen, Thug1, Thug2

There is some confusion then Elizabeth and Galreth begin to wake those that have been put to sleep.

Draven seeing the injured Tinu rushes to aid her. He applies a clotting and healing salve to one of the small sheets of special paper he carries in his pouch. Then when he removes the knife from her gut he quickly pushes the salve coated paper into the wound with his fingers.

The action of doing this awakens Tinu. Her eyes pop open as she gasps with pain and then squeezes her eyes shut and freezes as the pain in her gut takes her breath away. In a few seconds the pain subsides somewhat (Salve: [1d4]=1hp) as the salve takes effect, dulling the pain, stanching the blood flow and coating the wounded flesh with healing herbs.

This special paper will dissolve in a minute or less adding to the clotting effects of the salve. The quick application of the salve and clean clotting paper almost always prevents wound infection and sepsis. Bigger cuts often need stitches to completely close the surface and internal wound and those leave puckered scars behind. Yes, Tinu will have a scar from the penetration, there isn't much that can be done about that without magic, but it shouldn't be a large one. The only real danger for her now is if the knife thrust penetrated any organs in her gut, although the salve and paper should stop further injury and infection there could be complications that would need magic to deal with. Tinu should be careful for a few days and be watched for symptoms of lingering internal injuries, but she should heal completely. A visit to the Temple of Ord, or healing magic from a companion, is a precaution that should be considered.

While Draven is working on Tinu, Vesper attempts to Lay Hands on Gaurbal ([1d20+1]=4+1=5) failing miserably. Thoughts pass through Vesper's mind as she rises, need to work on my spell casting, maybe review the notes I have in the little book I made so long ago...it couldn't be Ord's displeasure at my recent lewd displays? No, of course not! Vesper doesn't think any little magic she can muster has anything to do with Ord, anyway. The big fellow has never helped her when she need him, so why should he help her now? What she does, she does, no gods need apply!

Elizabeth and Gaurbal banter as he rises about setting noses and scars, both are excited and a little high with adrenaline.

The two Thugs are tied up while Helen is informed about the jug that was poured into the ale barrel. Big Al shows up hears what happened and agrees that that barrel best not be used and orders it put aside for testing later while another is opened.

Vesper exclaims "By the Shadows I need to be on stage soon! We need to bind these thugs and find out what poor Gaurbal interrupted". Seeing the Thugs well in hand she disappears inside to continue the show.

OOC: After Vesper goes inside to continue her performance what do the rest of you do?

It's not, perhaps, the best performance of Vesper's career as she is just a little distracted with what happened out back ([1d20+3]=8+3=11), but it is still a good one and a complete success! She has the crowd laughing and singing and even breaking out into dances of their own by the time she finishes.

More than a little exhausted and damp with sweat, Vesper returns inside and finds Big Al counting up the take, grinning he says, "A very good haul for a night's work! You can count it yourself, but by my count your take is [1d100]=68 gold. "

"That's a good week's profit in one night!" Big Al continues grinning, "You interested in giving up your adventuring gig and coming to work for me full time? Won't draw crowds like this every night, but we'd make a good living out of doing this once a week. Get those new girls of yours involved and train them up, too!"

Al's eyes unfocus slightly as he dreams out loud, "I could make enough to expand the tavern, add an actual stage. No! Buy a performance hall where you could really show off your talents! A big drinking hall with the stage, gambling in the back rooms, other entertainments up on the second and floors. Give Redman a run for his money!"

Al refocuses on Vesper shaking his head with wonder, "Redman ain't got nothing like you Vesper Hush. His infames have to actually show their wares to get half the attention you get just hinting at yours."

"You know.", a bit of a leer creeps into his voice and expression, "Every man out there, most of the women, too, will be sleeping with you tonight, Vesper Hush."

OOC: Need to finish up this bit of roleplaying. What will Vesper think of giving up adventuring and becoming an, um...infame is the term we will use...full time. Then it'll be Carousing Time. :) I'll make the roll and we'll see what happens while you are bending the town for 2 more days...:)...and deal with the aftermath!

{Elizabeth}

As the others tend to each other's wounds, and deal with the thugs, Elizabeth steps back into the shadows of the doorway, trying to position herself so that she can see out, but it's difficult for those in the alley to see her. She'd rather the thugs not see her. A quick look at her tattoos might be all they need to figure out who knocked them out, and she'd rather not draw their attention.

Besides, she still needs to fix her dress. How in Madeer's name did Vesper...

A breathless Vesper returns off stage waving at the boisterous crowd with her entire (crowd facing) (im)modesty covered by several playfully capering cats made of "shadowstuff" and nods at Big Al's count on the take.

She then takes to her "dressing room/draped blanket" to freshen up and then soon emerges smelling citrussy and again clothed in her black "North District Bravo" outfit with the really impressive hat.

She coolly says to Al "One of "my new girls" got cut tonight protecting your pub from the Red Man's thugs - there's a war brewing". She then drops back into her expected persona and purrs "Work once a week as a kept woman? Is this a marriage proposal Al?" She teases a full on kiss but then delivers it to his cheek "My, it's a most generous offer - but listen to my counter proposal. I will need a good, careful businessman who knows the trade as a partner. You're right - the Red Man has nothing like me. I don't think he yet realizes quite how good I am or the threat I yet pose. Where there's rats there always has to be a King... or a Queen. Make your big business plans Al but imagine yourself running an ale hall in the Northern District - for me".

She then laughs joyously "Oh, everyone sleeps with the fantasy of Vesper Hush..." her lips quirk into a wicked smile "...and that's perhaps just as well - for the reality is so much more demanding!"

Her smile takes a colder edge "We have guests to entertain and a response to send. Treat these two thugs to a yard of what they planned for everyone else to sup and then strip them so all will know that they joined in the show! As to their conveyance home and their modesty - bind them back to back but leave them free enough to carry and walk within the confines of the hogshead that they poisoned. Then let them both carry it back to the Red Man's territory!" She then adds almost as apparent afterthought "For that is surely where their master will supply the antidote?"

Nothing at all to do with Ord - whom she delights in "displeasuring"... So much so that now she worries that actually he secretly enjoys it... ;) This is a spell she "borrowed" from the "Restricted: Other religions section" (the Librarian was an afficionado of the performing arts ;) ) of the Odrian temple library and is cast in a language that she can speak - allowing her to "mimic/perform" the borrowed magic for practical effect. (Just handing the DM plot hooks to persecute me with here... ;) :) ).

More than happy (as ever! :D 8-) ) with all the narrative results above - but "Bard" so she always performs with Advantage and then LUCK of course! ;)

I may be rushing to conclude the scene here so please all pitch in! :)

Vesper says to Tinu "Oh, no you don't - you're not retiring to your room. You got stabbed as a Shadow Cat so you can claim healing as one! "Ord of the Unbending Stiffness" owes us both healing and the straightening of Gaurbal's nose! Our party is only just starting and I want to enjoying dancing with people instead of at them!"

She grins "I'll persuade Al to stand us a case of wine for us to drink in the Ordian Temple's "NO DRINKING, SINGING OR LEWDNESS" waiting area!" Raising her arms above her head (and around her impressive hat*) she rhythmically sways her leather sheathed hips... almost hypnotically "Oh, I'm feeling the waiting room already!"

Gaurbal

Gaurbal checks over Dravens work and nods at Tinu. "You are stable for now, but you should get magical healing for a wound like that if possible to prevent complications. If this Redman is a danger we should not split up unless absolutely necessary. We can wait in the back of the inn until Vesper finishes her performance and then go to the Temple of Ord as Vesper suggests, or the church of Saint Terragnis offers healing as well, and simply asks for a donation of what you can afford. We have the thugs to question too, some of us can do that while Vesper finishes."

The rest of the night is filled with drinking and song as the party moves from tavern to tavern, first around the Sea Serpent's Tooth and then heading south into the Slums of the South District.
Encounter: ([1d6]=6) Event: ([1d100]=23)
At some point during the Slum Crawl the party encounters a group of 4 or 5 thugs demand a toll...it isn't clear just how many to you at this point as you've all been imbibing pretty heavily! They demand 1 gold to "provide security" while you're in the South District. It seems a reasonable request, and you pay it, not wanting to interrupt your night of fun for a fight right then.

You wake in a pile, a literal pile, of bodies inside some hovel in the Slums. There is the beginnings of a hangover beginning, so immediately take the only cure...more drink! The next couple of days are a blur. You know you got up to all kinds of shenanigan's, but can't remember exactly what they were.

At some point, you visited the Temple of Ord and everyone got healed...and almost sobered up. You fixed that quickly enough by drinking the keg of ale Gaurbal was carrying on his shoulder while sitting on the front steps of the Temple. There were Priests and Town Guardsmen there, too, but you aren't sure what happened.

At another point you were all standing outside a tall tower. That Wizard's Tower next to the Shrine to Madaara. Everyone was shouting and knocking on a door. It's hazy after that, you don't think you got in and errrr...then...

OOC: And now we'll be rolling for individual Carousing Events and seeing what comes of that. Tiglith, what is your Carousing Bonus roll?
