Hot Times in Slateholm 6/23-24

Elizabeth watches Vesper perform, her face growing steadily redder and redder. At the end of Vesper's performance, she shakes her head. "Yeah, I could never do that. And if I tried, Sister Marie would pop up out of the ground and skin me alive."

Galreth has a great time drinking wine and watching Vesper with the Lute.

Tinu dresses in a knee length dress made of a thin, shimmery fabric, which she covers with her hunter's cloak while they walk outside. She wears flat sandals with straps that reach halfway up her calves. While she isn't a singer, she dances with flowing, graceful movements, timing her actions in counterpoint to Vesper.

Ferd is cleaned up, a fresh linen shirt with wooden buttons and dark woolen trousers. He pumps the crowd near him to increase the excitement at Vesper's performance, thumping his boot and slapping his hand to the table to add to the rhythm section. He pours fresh drinks for anyone at his table.

Elizabeth watches Vesper perform, her face growing steadily redder and redder. At the end of Vesper's performance, she shakes her head. "Yeah, I could never do that. And if I tried, Sister Marie would pop up out of the ground and skin me alive."

Vurna makes a few "hmph" noises through the performance, though she is quite attentive both to Vesper's energetic dance and the reactions of the punters.

"I think I agree with you, Elizabeth... other than that part about a nun coming back to life."

Vurna has left behind her hat and cloak, leaving her long dark-brown hair loose and some of her own smooth olive skin showing where not covered by her polished, stiff leather corset.

As the crew troops toward The Sea Serpent, Daisy looks around catching various people eye and nodding her head back toward the direction they came from. She then moves back from the crowd and starts back toward the Trident and Shield.

OOC: Anyone going on Daisy's Little Night Business needs to move over to that thread now.

OOC: When Ferd is ready for his group to peel off and have their night of Carousing go over to the Ferd's Carousing thread.

As the crew troops toward The Sea Serpent, Daisy looks around catching various people eye and nodding her head back toward the direction they came from. She then moves back from the crowd and starts back toward the Trident and Shield.

Elizabeth continues on to The Sea Serpent.

Ferd cheerfully waves to those that follow Vesper on her three day romp. He pops another small cube of cheese in his mouth and kicks his feet up on the adjacent chair, waiting for the tavern to settle from Vesper's... arousal.

The warrior takes his job protecting Vesper and the take seriously, knowing there will be time for fun later.

He focuses on the crowd, looking for anyone paying too much attention to Vesper or the hat. The other reason for not watching Vesper herself is that she'd be way too much of a distraction.

"Be safe," Vurna murmurs to her tattooed new friend as they part ways.

Behind the (quite literal) bodyguarding of Draven and Gaurbal Vesper takes a bow and waves to the surging crowd before stepping down from the clustered tables that form The Pig's Whistle's stage. As she does she laughs with the joy of performing and gives a final wave to her amourous admirers before stepping behind a tarpaulin hung from one of the tavern's beams to partition off the very smallest of "dressing rooms". As she catches her breath from her exertions she freshens up from a pail with a lemon floating in it and expertly quick changes into her next outfit - a mannish quartered doublet and hose topped with a single feathered cap. Checking her appearance in a looking glass she touches up her stage make up and then ensures that she visibly greets the publican to share a drink (and broker her fee*) before she rewards the "rhythm man" with a (standard artiste issue) chaste kiss on the cheek and a short stack of gold.

Stepping back on a table she spins and strikes a pose drawing both cheers and attention that gives her a chance to announce "Thank you all for your fine company and enjoy your ale for now but... What was that???" Pointing along the rafters then to the southern door she hams up her acting as she shades her eyes "Why I'm sure that was a Shadow Cat!" At this last anticipatory cheers break out as she announces "Why I will trail it to The Sea Serpent's Tooth and see what befalls in the second half of our entertainment! For those who whose fancy lies beyond mere frivolity and revels let me vouchsafe to you that the rump of our humble act surely has some bottom". She sweeps off her cap and takes a swift troubadour's bow from the waist. Behind her a distracted dart player misses the board to a shriek of protest while at the nearest table a transfixed trader floods the table with overpoured wine while his fellow spurts a mouthful of ale across all in suddenly delighted surprise.** Nudges are nudged and winks are given up in favour of excited pointing and yet this in turn for the hurried quaffing of ale in what leads, for some, to an unseemly rush for the tavern's door leading to South District.

Vesper beams cheerfully at her comrades "Well, unless Jake has mislaid Galreth or Galreth has mislaid the take we should maybe quaff our ale and take a stroll to the 'Tooth?"

Galreth sits in the back, maintaibg the spell and allowing Jake to do his thing. Quietly drinking his wine and smiling.

Spirits are high, both in the crowd and inside the crowd as cheers, cat calls and shouts both vulgar and obscene split the air! All answered by laughter and high times, then...

Suddenly flames blossom on the street near Vesper and her party as a bottle filled with oil smashes onto the pavement and ignites! It hits no one and damages nothing, only blackening the already dirty cobblestones...but it does have an effect. The crowd recoils, people bump into each other as some attempt to move away and others attempt to move forward to put the flames out. Fire in a town with wooden shingles and many wooden structures is a dangerous thing.

All at once, the mood of the crowd appears to alter, being less of a party atmosphere now.

If a fire line is starting for getting buckets of water quickly from a well or the sea, Elizabeth will join it. Otherwise, she backs up to try to keep from getting consumed by the crowd, and keeps an eye out for anyone who might getting ready to throw anymore oil-filled bottles.

Elizabeth slides to the side as others look to stomp out the small fire. She looks around and spies a pair of men standing in an alley across the road watching what is going on. Both men are shadowed, but from Elizabeth's vantage she can just make them out by the flickering flames of the fire on the pavement. They are both wearing dark colored cloaks, but she saw movement and their white faces and hands are visible enough for her to make them out. Looking closer at them, she sees neither is doing anything other than watching, she doesn't see either holding anything that looks like something they could throw, but neither seem surprised by the fire nor to be doing anything to help put it out.

Draven leaps forward to put out the flames. “No one is going to stop our party! Who is with me?”

It isn't a large fire, and Draven begins to stomp on it with his heavy boots trying to put it out. As he is doing this, he sees one of the townsmen running over to him holding a bucket of what looks like water.

Elizabeth slides to the side as others look to stomp out the small fire. She looks around and spies a pair of men standing in an alley across the road watching what is going on. Elizabeth tries to subtly bump Gaurbal to get his attention and jerk her head to the two men watching.
