Kainaxarthos

Kain sets down the raft materials and readies his weapon. He keeps an eye on the south for more subterfuge.

Magda is relieved that only half the attackers seem to be real, but makes sure that she, Cyril, and the others are on the south (the safe side) of the line of skirmish. As tight as that is, there's likely no opportunity to fire missiles without risk to her allies.

She holds up her lantern to illuminate the battle.

Under The Zakath Desert
Oppressive Onslaught
Still No Idea On Time Or Day

In an intense showing of battle superiority, the party's frontline fighters completely decimate the charging Snakemen so badly that it causes all of those remaining to turn and flee. The skirmish becomes a total route from the beginning and without a single injury to the group, leaving three of their numbers laying dead on the floor.

With the way clear ahead, and the last few Snakemen fleeing behind you, it appears that these monsters are finally content to let you all leave without any more trouble, from them at least.

Actions?

Drest (Sc4) FA:3 AC7 16/22 Magic Sword
Xenos (DS3) FA:3 AC5 15/17 CT, FOB
Akhilleus (F4) FA:4 AC4 29/35

Magda (W2) FA:0 AC9 8/8 Sleep, Sleep Hooded Lantern

Cyril (Pr3) FA:1 AC8 6/12 Light HP CMW CLW

HA! I was just coming back to edit my post as follows − given that she took no other action:

Mindful of their use of an illusion (or Mirror Image spell), Magda looks to see if any of the snakemen are wearing garments or carrying items suggestive of spell casters.

This would now apply to the retreating creatures first, and the corpses after. 😄

Drest

Drest keeps an eye on his sword to try and learn how far away the snake men are when it stops glowing.

Then he goes about his business searching the dead snake men.

"That's right, run, you filthy animals!" Sik shouts back at the fleeing Snakemen, before turning his attention to the raft supplies, moving them to the stairs and beginning to haul them up the giant steps.

Akhilleus

"Something tells me they've learnt their lesson." He cleans his bloody sword on the garments of one of the deceased snake men. He then proceeds to check their items. Maybe they're carrying some valuable or interesting equipment.

Xenos

Xenos wipes his blade as well and assists in searching the bodies.

Kainaxarthos

Kain looks over the carnage with appreciation. "Impressive. Let's hurry and get out of here."

Under The Zakath Desert
Oppressive Onslaught
Still No Idea On Time Or Day

The dead are searched but little is found besides their oddly curved weapons and the strange leather harnesses and clothing they wear.

Drest watches his sword, the light from the gem in its pommel fading as soon as the enemy is well out of sight. Magda is certain at least one of them had some kind of arcane abilities, but she will need to hurry if she wishes to catch up to them to ask for certain.

It takes every bit of strength the group has to get the wooden bed supports up the massive set of huge steps, but they eventually get the job done.

Standing at the top of the massive staircase completely exhausted at this point, the group wonders what time of day it is compared to the last time they rested.

Taibhse and Cyril look the worst, clearly not up for a seriously dangerous water crossing until they have had a chance to sleep for a while and eat a nourishing meal.

Drest inadvertently stares longingly at the distant glowing blue gem still sitting on its snake shaped pedestal like it was when he touched it initially.

Beyond the double doors of this unsettling domed room, only the sound of water lapping upon the gravel shore can be heard in the darkness outside.

Kainaxarthos

"Holy crap that was hard! I need a breather. And I can't be the only one."

He takes a knee and looks to the leader. "Rest? We can think about how to deal with that tentacle thing while we do."

"I agree, let's rest for a short time. It should be easier to keep guard with just these two paths of entry."

"Some creature came up out of the water and attacked us on our way back to find you. Destroyed the boat too," Sik explains woefully, pointing to the shoreline.

Akhilleus

"Aye. We need to take a rest. This is a good spot, like Sik said.

With whatever's still lying around, let's barricade the entrance the snake-men used, and leave the other one open, with the raft(s?) nearby in case we need to make a quick escape.

Two should stand guard at all times. One at each entrance."

Suggested order:
Drest, Magda
Xenos, Sik
Akhilleus, Cyril
Kainaxarthos, Taibhse

Drest

"A rest sounds good to me. When I am sleeping whoever is on watch should keep an eye on my swords gem for snake men."

Works for me.

Magda

Magda took one of the snake-man blades as a keepsake and strapped it to her satchel, then removed her cloak and bundled it as well before starting the arduous climb back up the Cyclopean steps. She welcomes the coming rest period, but agrees to stand the first watch whether with Drest or Xenos.

"I must try to save the rest of my lamp oil. Does anyone have any more torches? Or perhaps we can find driftwood for a fire?"
