…let's not forget this hallway and the doors we haven't explored.

Did I miss the door part? It’s a long hallway with fourteen narrow mining passageways running off north walls. At the end of the long hallway are stairs.

This tracks. No doors, just passage openings. Fourteen from the elevator passage to the stairs, at least three in the other direction.

As Bishop and Delx suggested, Elcroon followed the others down the stairs. Given they only went up one level in the elevator, the musicmancer expected the stairs to go down to the first level.

With my 7 hp and no points in defense stats, I feel a bit safer being in the middle. Great suggestion! :D

You descend the stairs with a bit of caution …

Depletion [2d6]=8
Denizen? [_3d6]=(5+1+4)=10

… the stairs go down to a landing, then backward down to another landing. At the second landing is a statue of a dwarf who looks surprised. He holds a wicker basket. The stairs continue downward from here. There also is an opening to a passageway from the landing.

Bishop asked about casting a spell in post #226, and Elcroon asked if it would be dangerous, but then it faded. An augury or consulting with spirits could be useful.

Elcroon studied the unusual statue.

Will we see it thrice, a deadly cockatrice?”

The bard petted Black Dog.

What do you smell, pray tell?
If danger near, twitch an ear.”

To answer the question of danger: Dungeon Goons requires that you roll against "DS" for a given effort. If you roll under DS, then typically you take Strain = the difference. In the case of asking a spirit questions, this would represent the spirit getting mad and touching your mind unkindly. (Strain can be rested off.)

DS for different types of questions
"where and what is the nearest danger" ⇒ DS 8
"left or right" ⇒ DS 10

The "simpler" question would be higher DS because it would require the spirit to do a lot more thinking about your situation and maybe ask you questions, all of which would tend to piss the spirit off.

Could you please roll [_2d6] for Bishop (+ … 8 for Erudite, staff, and vestments … uh … the roll matters only if you get ⚀⚀)

There is a nest of fae at this level, and the one who escaped your arrows ran here. answers the very stone of the stairwell. Its voice echoes a bit.

Thank you for your assistance spirit of stone. I will let you continue your slumber he replies as he lets go of his hold over the entity.

The spirit spoke of the following: There is a nest of fae at this level, and the one who escaped your arrows ran here he repeats to Delx and Elcroon, unsure if they could hear the spirit just as clearly as he could.

Indeed, Delx and Elcroon heard the spirit speak! So too did Black Dog, who crouched and whimpered at the oddity of the stony voice. She still is crouched, looking fearfully at the nearest wall.

You hear a vague and distant outcry, somewhere in the tunnels beyond the door of the stairwell. It seems the spirit voice has maybe reached others than yourselves.

To confirm, the nest is at our current level - L1 on the map - where we are on the landing with the dwarf statue, a passageway is before us, and stairs continue down.

Yes, which might imply there was another stair for the fae to descend as they are somewhere out in the passageways away from this landing, and they didn't come past you!

Yes, if the dwarves like symmetry I’d expect the L2 east side to mirror the west, with the mining corridors and a stairwell at the end. Two stairs at each end, elevator in the middle, all running up and down.

If L1 has the fae nest, I propose avoiding and going down to L-0

Impressed with the spirit whisperer, Elcroon said to Bishop:

“Spirit speaks where shadow creeps
Sharing truths where silence sleeps.”

The bard wondered if the spirits could sing; he could make a haunting duet with one.

“Shall we keep the fae at bay?
Descend again into another fray.”
