Caradoc keeps attacking at the alita near him and also keeps singing.

Attack with Short Bow: To Hit [1d20+1]=11+1=12; Damage [1d6]=5

I think the song should start taking effect mow, since it's the third round.
In the midst of battle, recite poems or sing verses that inspire allies to fight with enhanced ferocity:
- Allies gain +1 bonus “to hit” and damage in melee (not missile) combat
- Boon takes effect 2 rounds after the singing begins (i.e., on round 3 if the singing begins on round 1)
- Boon lasts as long as the bard continues performing, up to a maximum of 1 turn (10 minutes)

This ability can be used while engaged in battle, as long as the bard can continue to sing or recite; however, casting other spells or performing other similar actions is not possible. This ability can be used once per day for every three levels of experience:
- 1st to 3rd levels = ×1
- 4th to 6th levels = ×2
- 7th to 9th levels = ×3
- 10th to 12th levels = ×4

Cian

Seeing Zosime facing a foe alone, Cian rushes towards her attacker attempting to strike it with his long sword:

Charge attack, -2 AC penalty, +2 to damage rolled (not included below)

Long Sword: to-hit [1d20]=20; dmg [1d8]=2

Assuming this is critical hit:
critical hit: [1d6]=4
x2 damage.

Nice! The way 2X damage works in Hyperborea, you actually roll the damage dice a second time.

Kordrak

With Akrisios and Caradoc at his side, Kordrak focuses on the same opponent, twirling his dagger and stabbing hard - he can feel Caradoc's words bolstering his resolve!

Targeting #4 same as Caradoc and Akrisios (are there any 'flanking' bonuses? I feel like I have asked this before. Apologies...) - if that one is already dead, will instead focus on #3.

Silver dagger attack [1d20+6]=10+6=16 Damage [1d4+2]=4+2=6

Early Afternoon, Unknown Day and Year

Zosime continues to battle with her target, seemingly alone, but is unable to land a strike. But just as the creatures seems poised to strike her again with its poisonous dagger, Cían charges to her aid, running through the alita with his sword, killing it on the spot.

Grom swings his staff again, and it appears to be a good hit, but the alita bends itself with supernatural alacrity through the shadow, narrowly avoiding it. It has no such luck avoiding the now standing Grae, who smites it with her mighty morning star, breaking its body utterly and completely.

Caradoc fires another round as his song reaches a crescendo, this time able to hit his mark. Kordrak and Akrisios join in their attack on the same, harming it greatly, but unable to bring it down.

All of the alitae cower with fear as their comrades fall, and they flee into the shadows. The one who had begun his retreat earlier seems to have vanished altogether, leaving only the two who seem ready to pull their own disappearing act.

"Leave while you can, proud humans - for the dissolution is upon us. We will come for you again with others when the night falls," a voice cries out from the trees.

Akrisios

"An ominous warning. Still, that would give us time to prepare Cian's floral wreaths. Perhaps if we can return them to normal they can give us a better idea of what is happening here."

Kordrak

"Let's do that" - the kimmerian grunted, sheathing his dagger, recovering his bow, and taking a further look at the boar corpse.

Trying to understand how the boar died exactly.
Also, did our attackers leave anything behind? Weapons? Gear?

Caradoc stops singing (obviously) and tries to recover as many arrows as he can. He then joins the search for the flowers.

Grom looks his staff over, wondering if it's functioning properly.

"A strange warning indeed. Why would they provoke us so after nearly being routed? Retreating while verbalizing a future threat seems illogical to me. Are they trying to get us to follow them?"

The Magician agrees with the others to take advantage of the lull in fighting to process the situation. He pokes around at the dead figure Grae just killed, looking for anything important.

Zosime

"Thank you Cian, your aid was very timely. Yes, we need to prepare as best we can if if their threat makes no sense."

She will recover her arrows and then search around for any clues.

Early Afternoon, Unknown Day and Year

The last of the alitae vanish into the shadows without a pursuit, and the adventurers take the time to assess their surroundings.

Caradoc and Akrisios head over to the patch of flowers and start picking some to tie together into wreaths.

Kordrak looks over the dessicated boars, looking for signs of what killed them. On closer inspection, he is able to find that several have small wounds caused by blades. But all the wounds are superficial and would not kill, or even seriously hinder any boar he'd ever dealt with.

Turning his attention to the remains of the alitae, he finds nothing but soiled rags and rusty daggers.

Grom watches the wreath making process with great interest.

"What do you actually do with the wreaths once they are crafted? Give them to the monsters who just tried to kill us?"

"And what did they mean by we will come for you again with others when the night falls. That doesn't sound good to me."

Caradoc

"Doesn't sound good to me either, Grom. Cían knows better about what we could do with these wreaths. I suggest we do it now or leave this place as long as there's no sun light. Yes, I know that's a long time.

But I wonder, like Kordrak, why those boars are mummified. Who takes the time and care to mummify wild boars?"
