Under The Zakath Desert
The Wait
Still No Idea On Time Or Day

After the continuous verbal assault from Kain, the groups Shaman casts prayers of healing upon himself and Sik, their wounds looking much better afterwards.

The rest of the group seems content to stay right where they are until the magic bones of Xenos finally dissipate.

Discussions are had on what to do while they wait, but no actions have been taken so far.

Actions?

Drest

"Find or make some cover from this wreckage, and be quick about it. Lets make them come to us. How brave are your snakeling?"

Drest drags the snake man over to some turned over furniture and tries to get himself set up behind it.

Kainaxarthos

Assuming we are holed up in the bedroom where we found the cloak and the book, Kain starts moving the bed to the main entrance. "I defer to others on tactics, but this area is even smaller than the last. Won't we be easier targets for that cloud stuff?"

Akhilleus

"Exactly. I'd say we move even deeper. The area with the musshroom offers cover (the mushrooms) and is wide enough for us to spread.

If the pork man comes, we hack it to pieces. I doubt he in cahoots with the snake men."

"The last time we fought that thing, hardly any of us could do damage to it. I would rather not risk going down there - surely we can devise a plan of attack without going down there," Sik says.

Akhilleus

"Every room between us and the mushroom forest is too small. Going to the chasm is way too risky—the bridge is too thin. There's no way to battle there.

Maybe if we go to the part where the mushroom forest is, we can explore in another direction—to the right, along the forest, on its southern side. We might find a path to circumvent the snake men and get behind them. Since there's no good place for an ambush, I think it's our best chance. But then again, we risk running into more enemies."

This may be cheating on my part, but I just noticed on the map what looks like another bridge or passageway leading south from the mushroom area. It might connect to the room with the locked door on the other side of the big room with the cyclops statue—if my poor memory is serving me correctly.

Yeah, I don't think we found that passage earlier.

Akhilleus

"We won't be fighting the snake men now.

We'll have to wait for a while and prepare an ambush, which is difficult in rooms as small as these. They can easily know where we are and throw another stinking mist at us, like they did before, or something worse, like Kain said.

Besides, Magda is onto something. We almost beated the pig man before. He run from us.

Drest, saying what you don't want to do doesn't help. If you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions."

While the group is discussing the different possibilities, Akhilleus looks at the doorway, lest the snake men come earlier than expected.

Xenos shakes his head "When the creature fled it took it with him. The only weapons that we have that will harm it are the witches dagger and likely Drest's sword."

Kainaxarthos

He listens to the chat and speaks up again. "Ok. I see two options. Take the fight to the snakes now, back where we fled from. Or go down to the mushrooms and try to find another way out."

"We long ago decided to have Akhilleus be the leader in these situations. I say we follow his lead."

Kain starts moving for the bookcase and the not-so-secret door.

Akhilleus

"Since the pig-man ran away from us, I don't think he'll be too eager to come back if he hears noise. I suggest we go down and head straight to the other ascent, further east."

Under The Zakath Desert
The Trek Below
Still No Idea On Time Or Day

Deciding that the wait will be too long to endure, the group takes the advice from their leader and heads back into the pitch blackness of Underborea.

It takes a good deal of time to retrace their steps all the way back down the cliff face switchbacks to the giant mushroom field at the base of the cliff.

There the group makes their way along by the light of one magic sword, pleased that no pig faced monster comes sniffing around again. Eventually they do indeed find another similar trail that appears to head back up into the cliff wall, likely to another entrance to the strange underground complex they can't seem to leave.

The stink of black dirt and rotting vegetation is prevalent here, as is the sound of the unseen roaring river behind them. In the darkness, it is impossible to tell if any threats occupy the trail back into the stone structure they have been investigating.

Akhilleus

"Drest, can you go first and look for traps or irregularities in the stone? I'll go behind you. The light of your sword will also help us see our way up.

Magda, maybe the lantern will help those in the last ranks to see behind them. I suggest Taihbse goes last*."

The Kimmerian warrior looks whereve he's going to step before he does it, with care.

*Because reasons

Drest

Drest will lead the way. He will use one of his unlit torches to check for trip lines and pressure plates as he advances, holding his sword in his other hand for light.

Kainaxarthos

"Excellent! I knew we would find another egress. Lead on!"

He whispers to Magda and Cyril. "I find it's always better to keep up the morale of those on the front line."

He raises his voice for the others. "Keep an eye out for secret passages, the builders have already shown a fondness for them."

Magda walks a few paces ahead of Taibhse, holding up her precious light source for all to see by.

Under The Zakath Desert
The Trek Below
Still No Idea On Time Or Day

Leaving the humid grove of massive mustard colored mushrooms covered in brown spots behind, the group starts making their way back up the 300 foot cliff wall.

The rocky switchback trail climbs ever upwards, but thankfully no danger occurs during their ascent. When they reach the top, they find another narrow tunnel they need to traverse single file again. At the end of this tunnel, they find a strange looking door that appears to rotate fully instead of simply swinging open like a normal door.

Kain reminds everyone that they have found a few strange bits of construction in here so far, wondering if there is any danger to opening this oddly designed door.
